  1. Most likely bad first tests or rare cases, but I digress. If there is no immunity to be found...will the park ever re-open?
  2. Well in that case Kings Island will never re-open, and you should find another forum to troll.
  3. You are correct, but this has moved into a phase where governments are thinking less about people getting sick, and more about making sure hospitals can keep up with demand. If cases grow but the ICU's are not overwhelmed, nobody cares...so to speak. That's why the reigns are being loosened. Virus is moving so fast we're going to be real close to herd immunity by the time they figure out a vaccine IMO. And as you mention---we have no idea how many have it, but aren't even sick!
  4. I was actually at Magic Kingdom on New Year's Eve three or four years ago. OMFG. I can't even explain it. Amusement Park PTSD.
  5. Better thrills? Easy. Build a stand-up coaster. Something I found amazing in the 80's on King Cobra, but my kids have never experienced. Back in the day we waited an hour or two to ride it.
  6. The science is showing outdoor gatherings are far more safe than indoor events. I think once it gets hot here in the midwest you're going to see things change. FL,GA, and TX are already getting hot so it makes sense they are ahead of the game.
  7. I actually think Zoo's WILL be opening soon. Might be outdoor attractions only, with stipulations, but yes.
  8. It's almost May, and it's going to get hot out soon. Those who want to stay home will. We're about to find out how strong this virus really is. Governor's be darned!
  9. Fair. And I see nothing wrong with that. We need to protect those most at risk. I wholeheartedly agree with that! I do see some benefit for "the others" moving on though.
  10. I think this is really what Mitch Daniels was trying to point out. True this! I don't think ALL the faculty and staff are going to drop-dead, but that is a valid point. And I think Mitch, and Purdue as a whole, is trying to figure this part out. How to keep faculty and staff safe. That doesn't mean the entire thing has to shut down though.
  11. Under 30-s will not spread the virus to older people if older people are staying home and social distancing. Right? I mean...that's what we're told. Wear a mask, stay home, etc. What's the problem?
  12. Stop playing dumb, and look at the death-rates across the USA under-30, and then tell me your argument. I've already told you Indiana's...about one death under 30. Look at Michigan which has 2x indiana's positive cases...a couple.
  13. Dorms are filled with people under 30 who are not dying. Relevant? I think so. I think so A LOT!
  14. Singapore's cases are mostly migrant workers. I'm not saying they aren't essential, but it's about living quarters, and not exactly relevant to the midwestern US.
  15. This will be interesting. I live here, in West Lafayette proper home to Purdue. To date there has been no deaths in Indiana under-20, and I think only one under 30. Kids will certainly build immunity. There's some really difficult decisions being made right now, that is for sure. I don't think anybody quite has a grasp as to what "ending well" even means yet.
  16. To be fair, the goal of stay-at-home orders has never been to eliminate Covid-19, but rather to slow its spread. Unless you live where a large outbreak is happening, many hospitals right now are seeing LESS patients than they have at the same time in previous years. Thus why some areas feel it's okay to open up for business (with distancing), and other people think it's absolute craziness. Depends where you are, and what the local circumstances are.
  17. I will live it up at whichever park as soon as the park opens. It's true I also think under-50's need to get immunity asap. Over-50's stay home. For now.
  18. I can only speak to my situation, which is we are barely spending compared to usual except for what we have to. At the same time we cannot wait for things to return to normal. And when things do return to normal, we are living it up. I completely understand it might take awhile for everyone else to "live it up". But...I think a lot of folks will be, too!
  19. What are the instructions from the park regarding Fast Lane people vs. general admission. I know there has to be some very clear orders from above...what are those instructions?
  20. Yeah I believe that! Also why I have never ridden Monster at KI. :-)
  21. I live really close to Indiana Beach, but have only been there a few times, sadly. This year we bought 4 season passes for the first time ever, only to be massively disappointed with all the news of park closure. Finally, some great news! On the back of this whole Covid-19 thing I hope local entities like Indiana Beach get tons of visitors. We can't wait to get to Kings Island, but after staying home endlessly, I think some people might find you don't have to travel hours from home to find a really good time.
  22. Whenever the park opens, I think the smoking sections will be busy...two countries, months apart, have come to the same conclusion. https://www.rt.com/news/486605-french-study-nicotine-resist-coronavirus/ https://www.chinadaily.com.cn/a/202002/15/WS5e472d79a310128217277b8e.html
  23. Your figures ignore the fact that studies have already been carried out suggesting our actual number of cases have been between 50-80 times higher than the actual number that have been tested positive. So the death rate is presumed even by scientists to be way, way below 2.8%. https://www.cnbc.com/2020/04/20/coronavirus-antibody-testing-shows-la-county-outbreak-is-up-to-55-times-bigger-than-reported-cases.html https://www.foxnews.com/science/third-blood-samples-massachusetts-study-coronavirus
  24. That's roughly the number of fatalities via car crashes in the USA every year. I hope you don't dare get in a vehicle! Unacceptable. (we can do this all night) Look, Covid-19 sucks. I know we all agree on that. Let's leave it there, and move on.
  25. That's good sentiment and all, but we all make decisions about acceptable death rates every day of our lives. I'm sure someone has died over the years driving to and from Kings Island. Of course, some have died in the park itself. Should we shut the park down forever? It'll probably "save lives" statistically speaking, but of course we should not nor will we shut the park down. The fatality rate is indeed "acceptable". This entire topic varies widely based purely on who you are talking to. I know younger folks who can work at home that are scared to death of things "opening up". I know many middle-age (my age) who need to work or risk losing everything. Some older folks are fine with staying home. Some are not. Some miss being close to their loved ones. They know their time is limited anyway, and this is just stealing more of their time. It just depends who you talk to.
