  1. I would say my music genre is probably Alternative Rock, but there has been a time in my past that I have been a big fan of Gangster Rap, Country, Classical, and Death Metal, so you could say my tastes in music have been quite different through the years. But I think Alternative Rock has probably been my favorite for the longest of those genres.
  2. Disney World of course
  3. It did last year, kinda weird they have never fixed that since it's in plain view of anyone walking by.
  4. Site looks kinda similar to the Kings Island site. - Company logo in top left - Tickets and season pass links on the top right/center - Search bar on end of content headers - Auto slide show of news headlines - Three columns of sub-headlines underneath main headlines I like Coney Island's new site more than Kings Island's though, mostly because of the "site map" links on the bottom. it's one feature that would be nice on Kings Island's site. And yes, I know my little bullets are nitpicking and it honestly isn't that big of a deal to me, it's hard to make a completely new outline for a website without it being user-unfriendly.
  5. ^ This, I was just thinking the other day how much money I was having to spend now at the grocery now due to not having my two free meals at Kings Island once a week. Is it too much to ask to just open up the gates of Kings Island just to have the restaurants open and serving lunch?
  6. How dare he mess with our emotions! I want my money back! lol... very good trolling.
  7. Kings Island PR also re-tweeted it.
  8. My daughter loved Playlist Live last year, I really hope the changes they are making aren't anything too major.
  9. We had a slight panic the other day, my daughter wanted to check out some old VHS-C cassette tapes of me from when I was a child. We found that the VHS-C converter we had was no longer working. Went to Kroger, didn't have one, went to Walmart, didn't have one, went to Best Buy, didn't have one, went to Radio Shack and finally found the place that had one, and yes, only one. The person at Radio Shack informed us they no longer made the converters and the only way to really find them is on eBay and other second hand online stores.
  10. I still would go to it, unfortunately too many people lean towards your view of it and would not go. That's OK though, plenty of other things go on during December in Cincinnati to keep anyone busy.
  11. Flight of Fear was my favorite from Paramount. It really was a tough decision for me though, TR:TR was simply an amazing ride and there is little to compare it to, Delirium & Drop Zone really upped the bar for flat rides at Kings Island, and Son of Beast brought in a new extreme wooden roller coaster. In the end though Flight of Fear was my favorite, the theme in the queue area and the intense ride experience just cannot be topped. TR:TR had both of those things but I feel that Flight of Fear tops it in both categories, plus it was able to keep most of it's theming and ride experience following the sale to Cedar Fair, whereas TR:TR was simply stripped apart following the sale.
  12. Guess I was proven wrong about thinking that all Coney would get in 2015 is new picnic tables. Awesome news!
  13. They have a lot of the former Myrtle Beach Pavilion flat rides over at Broadway at the Beach. None of the coasters went with it though, not sure on where they ended up.
  14. Noooo, no RMC on the woodies, we got plenty of steel smooth coasters for those that can't handle the woodies.
  15. Went to the PNC Festival of Lights member preview night tonight at the Cincinnati Zoo. I went with my mother and my daughter. Weather was in the mid-30's most of the night, so it was cold but actually felt kinda warm compared to what we have had the last couple weeks. We got there around 5:30 with no parking issues since it was a closed event, was kinda nice since one of the things that always turns me away from the Festival of Lights is trying to find a parking spot. When we walked in through the main Vine Street entrance there was news vans from the four major networks there getting ready to report on the opening ceremonies. We decided since it was only 5:30 and the festivities didn't start until 6:00 we would take a quick stroll through the Reptile House since it's nice and warm and close to the entrance. Also stopped and got some hot chocolate and a soft drink on our way to the Reptile House. After doing that we headed back up to the front where the tree was and all the festivities were taking place. It was about 5:50 and they had a stage set up in front of the Zoo Shop, didn't know exactly why but it seemed like it was going to be where they were going to do some stuff so we set up shop there. Had my daughter sit on my shoulders so she could see up front. Promptly at 6:00 someone named "John John" came on stage, I guess he's a local radio host guy or something, don't know. He introduced everyone to the Festival of Lights and then turned it over to the President of the Cincinnati division of PNC Bank since they invited all the PNC workers out for the night as well and she gave a little speech to the PNC people. After that they turned it over to Nick Lashey's brother, I can't remember what his name was, he gave a brief introduction to some people from the Lashey Arts Academy (I think that's what they were called), they did several Christmas songs and I will say they did an excellent job. After that they informed the crowd that all through the season they will have the kids from the Lashey academy out and about doing caroling in the zoo. Following the music John John came back up on stage and introduced the man of the hour, SANTA CLAUSE!!! Santa gave a great speech and led the crowd in a singing of Jingle Bells and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. After that they did a count down to the lighting of the Christmas tree and officially announced the beginning of the Festival of Lights for the 2014 season. Following this we headed back towards Swan Lake on the opposite side where the monkeys usually are (they were roped off due to snow/ice coverage on the dock portions), my daughter got to see her favorite part which is the Swan Lake lights synced up with Trans-Siberian Orchestra. After that we headed towards the Children's Zoo where Santa Clause was. We got there just as Santa Clause was arriving so had to wait outside the entrance for about 10 minutes. After that we got in there and went through the line in about 15 minutes and ended up buying a snow globe and 4x6 pictures of my daughter with Santa. It was worth it since it was the first time she ever went up to an "official" Santa and sat on his lap. From here we headed on over to the train and took a ride on what was dubbed the "North Polar Express". They had most of the ride decked out with Christmas lights which was fun. The ride lasted probably about 7 minutes and I didn't have any issue at all on it. I was kinda weary about it because there was some lady screaming and hollering on the train that had just gotten back before us about how cold it was, but it felt perfectly fine for me as the train really didn't go fast enough for the wind to be any bother at all. After this we ate dinner over in the cafe by the Africa exhibit, food was excellent, although we did have to wait a few minutes for our chicken but it wasn't too long of a wait. After this we decided it was time to get going as it was about 8:30 and we hadn't planned on staying very long anyways due to the cold and the fact that I had a membership there and will definitely be going a few more times before the year's over. With a minimal crowd plus all the bells and whistles of the Festival of Lights I definitely found it to be enjoyable and say an A+ performance, can't really think of anything that would of made it better except staying longer and warmer weather.
  16. Wait, they have open fires there? Oh the humanity! (cross-threadin' lol) Looks like fun, little out of my price range though. Did it seem like something a 4-5 year old would enjoy? I'm not sure my little one would be able to do the tubing yet, she had issues with the tubes on the water slides at Soak City, don't know how similar they are.
  17. Ah, nice, haven't seen that thread, it was created in the span of time when my profile amazingly disappeared from this site and had to make this new one.
  18. A new updated version of a Peanuts movie might help, or it might not, either way, it's coming. http://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2014/11/18/peanuts-movie-trailer/?mod=e2fb
  19. Hopefully it's only a thing for the holiday season, doing this all year long would obviously make some long Fast Lane lines. It might also only be today, I just got a notification from the Kings Island mobile app stating that if you buy it "TODAY" that you would get the pass with Fast Lane.
  20. Didn't see this mentioned anywhere, seems like Fast Lane might not be so fast next year: via KingsIslandPR Twitter... ............ Buy a daily ticket at 2014 front gate prices and get a FREE Fast Lane. https://www. https://www.visitkingsisland.com/?promoCode=precybermonday2015email .......... Looks like the deal is good through 9/7/15, so pretty much the full operating season.
  21. I wouldn't exactly say that the longer lines would decrease ridership, if anything it should help increase it since people standing in line means there is a steady stream of people getting on the ride, what should matter is how fast that stream of people are getting on it to ride.
  22. I'm surprised Adventure Express didn't have an uptick in ride count since you pretty much have to walk by it to get to Banshee. I wonder if Drop Tower would of had an increase if it wasn't closed for a quarter of the operating season.
  23. Allergic to bacon? That's just a world I don't want to live in.
  24. Criticizing Peanuts for the characters not being so innocent is kinda hard to use as an argument, most cartoons have a little bit of a darkness to some of the characters. Take Nickelodeons most popular TV show at the time of the Nickelodeon Universe years, SpongeBob Squarepants. SpongeBob was obviously ADHD with no real sense of reality, Patrick was a lazy sloth, Mr. Krabs was a greedy penny pincher, and Squidward was an egotistical self-centered pompous jerk. With all that said though, as others have already said, most people are going to find a children's area that is themed around what they grew up watching as the best theme'd kid's area. For me, I grew up watching Saved by the Bell, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and I would think any one of those three shows theme'd as a kids area would be my favorite, but of course most children in today's universe wouldn't enjoy these. What would be a good theme for today's children? Hard saying, my daughter's favorite shows currently are Monster High, Sanjay and Craig, and My Little Pony. Two of those shows are geared directly towards girls, and Sanjay and Craig would fall under the Nickelodeon banner. But will those shows hold any relevance 2-5 years down the line? Maybe (obviously My Little Pony will), but if you are going to theme your children's area, it needs to be something that has lasting value, which Peanuts provides as it's been around decades upon decades with very little changing. Sure, if we were still under the Paramount banner we would have Nickelodeon Universe who could re-theme rides as new TV shows come relevant, but then are we going to have people complaining that they changed the name of the Fairly Odd Coaster (since Fairly Odd Parents is starting to lose it's relevance to today's kids) to the Bubble Guppies Bubble Coaster because they used to be big fans of the Fairly Odd Parents even though they never watch it anymore. I truly feel Peanuts is a good brand to be under, is there a few other children's themes I would prefer? Sure, of course there is but there is also worse. But I'm sure the licensing for Peanuts is much less than something under the Nickelodeon banner. I'm kinda 50/50 on how I feel about the Splash Dance being removed though, on one side it was totally out of place and did not need to be on the dry side of the park, on the other hand though I totally think it would fit in perfectly over in the water park and I wish the decision was to move it instead of remove it.
  25. I let my daughter play the rubber duck claw game all the time, she wins it every time! :-)
