  1. I think it's hard to pick just one, it really depends on what you are going for with a coaster. If I am on a mine train rollercoaster, I am not expecting negative G's or large heights, but I do expect turns and theming. If I'm on a old wooden coaster I don't expect theming or special effects but I do expect speed and length.
  2. Subway, Snake Pit, and several of the new healthy options are now showing on the website... maybe clear your cache? I'd do a screen shot of what I see, but not sure on how to get a picture uploaded on here since it wants a URL and I don't mess with that Photobucket stuff.
  3. Looks like the list has been updated on the Kings Island website. https://www.visitkingsisland.com/things-to-do/dining-plan-locations
  4. If that list is legit, I couldn't be more happy. There is actually some salads on there as well as some alternatives for sides such as apple slices. Just seals it even more that I will most likely be getting in on this plan again this year.
  5. More seating for Ohio's largest smoking section. disclaimer: I don't know if it's really the largest smoking section
  6. One of my best friends is like that. He's a huge adrenaline junkie, loves every roller coaster. But he will not even step foot on the Zephyr.
  7. The Woodstock Gliders as I have not ridden a ride like that since the Flying Eagles left all them years ago and am excited to get on one again with my daughter to let her have her first experience on one. And the new funnel cake stand, I am just kinda intrigued I guess to check it out. The new Starbucks? nah...
  8. To each their own, no need to feel sorry for me while I ride it, I am having plenty of fun.
  9. I see the random advertisements for the new season on the internet as well, when at work, where there is no ad blocker allowed.
  10. As stated in my original post, they are not required to be accepting of the noise pollution. Just saying that you did a poor job of researching the area around you if you are expecting to live next to an amusement park and have peace and quiet. I think I'll go move to Cape Canaveral and complain to NASA that their space launches interfered with my morning breakfast.
  11. I really hope so, that is the one thing I found lacking with the Dining Plan was that there was hardly any healthy food options, if any (can't think of any off the top of my head).
  12. It's the spirit of Son of Beast.
  13. While yes, it is true they are not required to be accepting of the noise pollution of a nearby amusement park, they should also be doing their research when purchasing real estate. Such as, when you buy a house close by to the interstate it is unfair to complain about the noise coming from the interstate. Sometimes houses are affordable for a reason, which doing research will usually reveal. Now, as far as the amusement park adding on something that wasn't previously there (such as a fireworks display), that is different and is completely fair of the nearby residents to complain.
  14. I threw together this GIF real quick, showing the area opening day 1972 versus opening day 2009. I'm actually super impressed by this... it lines up really well and you can even identify several of the same trees. There's also a couple buildings that have remained - Rivertown Junction Dining Hall, ICEE Mix-It Up, and the Kings Island and Miami Valley Railroad station. Very nice, now I feel inadequate for my side by side compared to your's lol. More like that would be much appreciated
  15. Here is a side by side with then vs. now (well, as close to now as I could find). Honestly, I prefer now, at least for that section of the park. And since I know someone will ask, source URL for the "now" picture: https://www.visitkingsisland.com/images/uploads/image/db10120803.jpg
  16. I haven't been here long enough to really be part of any of the big discussions such as the Decode 2014 thread. So I guess my favorite would be the "New Haunt Attraction Near The Beast" thread. This would be for several reasons: - It was the very first thread I started here (under my previous handle DTK1376 before it got deleted mysteriously) - It being my first thread, ended up being 11 pages long of good dialogue for the most part - And the moment I posted I was told how crazy I was to be posting something from Screamscape like it was a foregone conclusion it wasn't happening so it shouldn't be discussed, so I had a bit of vindication with that lol http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/29490-new-haunt-attraction-near-the-beast-this-year/
  17. Turn it into a parking lot and build a monorail going across Kings Island Dr to get to Kings Island! (Just kidding of course)
  18. I like the idea of a bathroom next to Splash River, seems like you have to walk a mile to get to the bathrooms from there.
  19. I sure hope not
  20. The smaller log flume is still present, it is now called "Race For Your Life Charlie Brown". The large log flume is the one that is gone, it is now the resting place of what was once called Tomb Raider: The Ride (may it rest in peace). EDIT: Magenta beat me to it!!!
  21. The capitalization thing used to bother me when I first joined but honestly I've grown used to it and it does make the "fan-boy" message board a lot easier to read. Maybe that's just a generation-gap thing as I can't stand the "txt-speak" where people feel they must short-hand everything.
  22. I'm not a big enthusiast of rides outside of the Cincinnati area and have honestly never ridden a rollercoaster outside of this area so my list is kinda skewed to this area... 1. Shooting Star at Coney Island 2. The Bat (the original) at Kings Island 3. Screamin' Demon at Kings Island 4. Screachin' Eagle at Americana 5. Skyride at Kings Island
  23. I saw those last year but never realized they were free, I'll have to check that out again this coming year, that is as long as they are still free.
  24. I did have them tell me this during the season last year, it was due to procedural error on the cashier's part though and a quick conversation with the supervisor got the food for me and my daughter in a timely manner. I'm personally not upset about this because I generally eat within the "normal" lunch & dinner times, but I can understand those that do not as I at one time did eat outside of the "normal" hours. Hopefully Shark's conversation with KI was correct and it was an error on the site, but like many others, I'll hold my judgement until I see it in action this year, what one KI rep say's can contradict what another KI rep say's which has been the case many times.
