Decoding Episode II: Rivertown 2017 and the Falling Trees
Steph88 replied to jcgoble3's topic in Kings Island
I've always really enjoyed his videos. But I really doubt they'd put a Sky Roller in there. It really doesn't fit with the theme of Rivertown and they seem to be paying more attention to theming in that area, with the addition of the new funnel cake stand. I don't think it's "not Kings Island's TURN" for a coaster either. Cedar Fair is going do whatever they feel is needed for the park and the chain as a whole, they aren't going to necessarily follow the same pattern as in years past. There is also a first time for everything so I wouldn't rule out manufacturers they haven't yet worked with (RMC, etc.) There is always the potential to build a customer/vendor relationship there. We never know if and when that will happen. I dunno what's going in, but there's a lot of possibilities. Some flats would be pretty cool. A coaster would be really cool. A dark ride would be really cool. Whatever it is, I'm sure it's going to be great. -
What does Six Flags do better than Cedar Fair?

Another thing I think FUN does better than SIX: Ride names. -
Decoding Episode II: Rivertown 2017 and the Falling Trees

I thought it was just a continuation of Diamondback, but there is a second lift hill it looks like. Son of Diamondback (Kidding.) It looks like a copy/paste situation to fill in space. -
What ride did KI make the biggest mistake in getting ride of

Tomb Raider: The Ride. I even liked The Crypt just fine. I want a thrilling dark ride to come back.- 139 replies

*hopes they're not getting rid of too many trees and this is just a teaser of some sort*

Have fun everyone! Can't wait to see pics and live vicariously. I'll have to check out the webcams tonight when all the rides are lit up!

I would kinda recommend saving Busch Gardens Tampa for a March or April visit. The weather is milder, and the park isn't super crowded. We went in March and it was one of the best park experiences I've ever had. In the dead of summer, it would be pretty hot and humid. If that doesn't bother you, great! Treasure Island just got a new Residence Inn not too long ago, I've had family stay there and they said it was wonderful. It's a little far from the park (54 minutes) but it's one of the best beaches in the area. Super clean and beautiful, a must-see. When we visited, we got a good deal on the Country Inn and Suites in East Tampa. I really liked it. The rooms were great and it wasn't super far from the park, just a nice little drive. Pretty far from the beach, but a great hotel for the price. Hope you have some awesome trips!

I've had flavored popcorn that looked similar to that before, and it was very good. The kind I got was Dr. Pepper flavored, with a candy shell. I bet blueberry would be good too!

The extra night hours at Coney Mall would be cool though. I love seeing it lit up. Wonder how they will enforce non-campers leaving the park at 10?

http://funnyand.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/Sink-In.jpg (not mine) I'd kinda like to see a wing coaster soaring over the paths and among the trees in Rivertown.

I've always wanted to visit this park. I pass by it at least once a year and I always wish we had time to stop. Was there any theming on Runaway Mountain? -
I bet when it opens it'll be well worth the wait!

Yeah, don't read the comments. Everyone thinks they're a real clever comedian. I'm so sad for his family. -
I think that would fit really nicely in Rivertown.

I have a rough time with Ravine Flyer II also. I think it's beautiful to look at, it's super unique, and the few times I've been on it were really fun. But after a certain part of the course I feel like I'm going to break my neck. :/ The first time I rode it, it wasn't so bad, but every time since has been rough. It's gotten to the point where I'm wary of going on it at all. Then again, I'm a total wimp with that kind of stuff. I wanted to make it my last ride of the day my last trip, then I noticed a ton of black widow spiders and other various spiders building their webs on the supports. Noooope.

WOW, Storm Chaser looks like so much fun! I'd love to make it my first RMC. Hoping the park will last to 2017 and well beyond.

I'd have gone with grey cars and black rails, because "Storm Chaser". Purple and blue and yellow and red don't say "Storm Chaser" to me.

BGW 2017: Coaster Announced; YOU Choose the Name
Steph88 replied to bkroz's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I think a wooden coaster in Virginia will fare much better than a wooden coaster in Florida mainly due to climate. Didn't the humidity and rain cause a lot of the issues with Gwazi over time? Or am I completely off? I thought I heard someone mention that on here before. I love the moose exhibit idea! (I'd do the spoiler tag thing but I don't know how.) -
SpongeBob's Rock Bottom Plunge is a pretty fun coaster! (I think it's the only Gerstlauer I've ever been on, IIRC.) Tak Attack was the weirdest ride I have ever experienced. But very cool. *looks at Wikipedia* Awww it's gone now.

What do you guys think the odds are that they'll remove Challenge Park within the next 5 years to build a new ride? Looks like there's only Challenge Golf and Ripcord there now. -
Former SFNO May Be Sold

I can see it being a film set for post-apocalyptic survival/zombie movies. There seems to be several of those every year, and the lot would require minimal changes (working electric hookups, plumbing, etc.). It could probably be used for that for a few years. As for anything else, not sure what's feasible.
