I used to be the kid who would cry in line if I was being forced to ride something I was scared of. Heck, if you still try to make me ride something that I'm not up for, I'll probably give you a good cussing and cry still. So, in a way, I'm really glad to see that KI employees don't send sobbing children away on a roller coaster without at least talking to the parents and asking if this is really what they want to do. In my case when I was younger, the people who make me ride stuff (whether it was my parents, friends, or my sister)-- it was because they wanted to ride it and didn't want to worry about me waiting for them. My sister took me to KI when I was 12 or 13 (she's 8 years older than me), and I did really well for a few rides. I rode The Beast, Racer, and Vortex with no problems-- but I really didn't enjoy Vortex well. I was still scared of going upside down, but I TRIED it. She wanted to ride FOF next, and it just terrified me. We waited in the queue line while I cried and hyperventilated and finally we ended up literally hitting each other because she wouldn't let me leave. When we got up to the train, I bolted towards the chicken exit while her and her boyfriend rode angrily. We left the park afterwards without me getting to choose what I wanted to ride even though we went for my birthday. Now that I'm older, I know that she did it because my mother told her to not leave me alone in the park-- but it was a bad memory. It's funny to tell, but I won't even get near FOF now and I'm completely okay with it. So, forcing a kid to ride something is one thing if it's Haunted Mansion or another tame ride intended for children, but I'm completely in support of not letting a kid ride if they're not ready for it. Not always, but it might create a really terrible memory and scare kids off in the future.

I actually really like the FunTV's for the most part. The facts get kind of repetitive in a long wait-- but I appreciate the different music-- and oddly enough, some of the pop music actually sticks with me now as a Kings Island memory. I can listen to some songs in the winter and easily imagine I'm back at Kings Island!

Boyfriend said last night he doesn't think he's up for the heights. So, I guess we'll see what happens! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think I'll try it Sunday if it's open. The last two times I've been, it's been closed.

Man, I would love it if they somehow changed it to Sunday. They won't, but that'd be amazing.

...when they're working. I've seen both of them down multiple times before. Speaking of which, that's a reason that any ride's on-ride photo booth might be closed on a busy day: technical problems with the camera. It's certainly not a common occurrence, but it can and does happen. Oh, I have no doubt. Especially after seeing some of the upkeep on some rides and areas in the park.

I love the 80's store! I never went in the $10 and under store, honestly because I wasn't impressed with their window display but I will now! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

With the fear of rain this weekend, I'm trying to set a plan B in case I have to waste some time. What shops should I definitely take the time to check out? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm a big chicken too, and I actually haven't ridden it yet due to the fear of getting stuck up there. I also have had a hard time with spinning rides, so if anyone else has that issue, have you ridden it? I just don't want to vomit from that height. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hopefully ALL the rides are. Especially The Racer...Has The Racer not been working? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Thunder Road (The Racer's younger sister at Carowinds) is being removed for "future additions."Oh, whew... I got worried I wouldn't be able to ride The Racer on Sunday. I wonder if they'll try to turn Thunder Road into something similar to Twisted Colossus. Edit: but I digress... Hope Monster will be back to normal soon! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I rode SD for the first time last year and loved it! I was a little worried because sometimes I get nauseous on things that spin, but it was really pleasant. I also enjoyed getting to ride with kids because it was pretty funny to see their reactions. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

While I'd love to see a new ride go in, I completely agree about just fixing the ride they have now. Boo Blasters would be more well received if it was just well kept. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Well, if you're not from Kentucky, I'm sure there's a deal for you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Generally I count the opening day when all of the rides are open. And tested. EDIT: Their website sucks.

Just an idea-- I saw a poster today for a new Peanuts/Snoopy at the movie theatre. Wonder if that possibly signifies a change in the future for King's Island. With a new Snoopy movie out, popularity of the Peanuts will soar.

I hope everyone goes to opening weekend at Kentucky Kingdom so I can have King's Island to myself.

Hopefully the possibility of some rain will keep the crowds away.

Generally how busy are Sundays? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Probably a dumb question but.... Still curiuos of opinions.

Cool! I'm going next Sunday (the 31st) and it's like a 50% chance of rain in the morning. I think if it does rain, it'll be a great chance to see some of the shops I've never been in before. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
The only thing I would comment on that would be how much the high school fair cost to get in and how much was food and stuff like that, they probably had way more attendance because it certainly did not cost as much as say KK to get in. Now 50,000 has me a bit worried about KK, I hope it just survives. The only thing that really boils my blood is when other members here compare KK to a way bigger park(like KI or CP) and say that KK needs to be like this or do things like they do. KK is not even close to being in the league of those parks and they are in different parts of their lifespan anyway, KK was built in 1989, so it is around 26 years old, when was KI just 26 years old, when they were just starting out with Paramount in 1994. You can't just compare KK to a park that gets 2.5 million more than it. However I am not saying that I am defending the park, the parks policies make me a little sick inside, with refusing ADA standards at Swampwater Jacks or not inspecting their coasters and rides daily and many more policies that are issues. I really want KK to succeed, but I do not know if it will. I think it could become actual competition if they were smart. They may not be as large, and they could even keep the same amount of rides as they have now. But they do not market well to the state. Like I said earlier, I'm outside of Lexington and I rarely hear or see any promotions for the park. They could easily put themselves on the map if they marketed better and were consistent in information. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I almost have a nervous breakdown everytime I ride Adventure Express. My heart beats as fast as those guys beat on the drums Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I agree. I'd rather find a park that I KNOW my money will be well spent at. There was always something sketchy to me about KK and that's why I never went.
