You wouldn't make it all the way around SOB is currently missing some track

For every steel coaster, the trains are taken off and stored in the picnic grove. I'm assuming FOF trains are kept in the building itself. Scary thing, even the Delirium ring had been removed and seats placed in the grove, allowing a view of the inside. Basically every flat ride in the park, as well, is taken apart and either kept around its location, moved to the picnic grove, or taken to the maintenance buildings. So, while walking through HB, we saw all the kiddie rides taken apart. It looked as if HB where a traveling fair and they were starting to pack up and move to the next town. What Pat didn't mention, and I had suspected for a few weeks.. The green/white tent that has popped up in Boomerang Bay by Taz is indeed set up to piece together the tubes and slide segments. As Jeff explained, in order to build them, they must put caulking between the piece to make a water tight seal. This caulk must be applied in a temperature of 40degrees or higher in order to seat properly. Since its below 40degrees, they must do it inside. This is also why the work on the funnel itself has stopped. The same caulk must be applied to those sections, and they just can't control the weather around the funnel. So, Jeff assured us that as soon as the weather warms up to above 40degrees for a few days... the slides and Taz will start going vertical quickly because of the prep work done inside the tent. At this time.. Aaron is putting last minute touches (logo, copyright) on photos (60+) and will have them posted soon. And for those that can't get enough Jeff or PKI... I am leaving Cincinnati here soon to go to Chicago for the annual ACE "No Coaster Con", which Jeff will be presenting at. Stay tuned for pictures and a trip report from that Sunday after I return.

Trust me.. in food, our trash cans fill up much faster at big locations. Its a pain.
-
The only thing that bothered me about their entrance line was that they always had two trashcan out front of the "gate". No matter what time I passed there during the day... they were always full and people just started stacking stuff on top or on the ground around them. Never looked good. Its no wonder people would put their stuff on the ledges in line, they don't have "available" trash cans to deposit trash in. Trash was my number one pet peeve in the park this year, just seeing trash cans full to the brim and not a single ecology person insite to take care of it. Makes the park look as bad as a park with vandalism, peeling/fading paint and what not.

I picked Intamin basically cause I'm impressed with their progress from their original coasters to now. Track design has changed, developed new ways to launch, and just some pretty darn awsome layouts and speeds on rides. B&M has multiple track designs for each type of coaster they have... however they're all the same with just different track tie styles.. nothing to inovative has really come out of them. True there was floorless, but whats that.. just an elevated seat with a floor in the station that moves...??? Though the ride is still the same as any other coaster they make. Flyer was their only true inovated method, but I'm just not as impressed by that as I am with the great Intamin rides.

Since you also started another poll basically the same, only with more choices.. this one was a screw up. So, I'll close this one.

Actually, a lot of things in Coney Mall got new signs or a new paint job this year.
-
Uhh, I say we going revamp for 2004. Like StX said... Boomerang Bay is basically a revamp of WaterWorks with the addition of a few new rides. The parking lot is actually getting some new stuff this year.. wait until update is posted to see what, nothing too huge though.
-
uhh... 2005 is still a ways off. Who says they haven't already started talking with a coaster company and planning a world class ride for 2005. Seeing as how B&M and Intamin were both rumored to have been in the park last year some time... I believe they already started looking at what they want. They aren't going to decide tomorrow... I think I want to put in a coaster and do it. If we're getting one.. its most likely already in the works at some stage.

Actually it wasn't primed until post season (when park goes back to weekends only) of 2001, so not really half the season. It was fully repainted by time the park went to full season of 2002. It makes it difficult to paint the ride on certain days while the maintenance guys have to do checks and stuff and cycle the ride, so that slows it down. Plus the tower would take forever anyways do to all that metal going every which direction.
-
Yeah, we'd need like a 4 year old... Though do they really want the "bad guy" as a character in the park?
-
Is a car still a car if it is used by a company to transport packages?
-
Technically the Train, just like a monorail, or the elevators on the Eifel Tower... are transportation rides. They all move people mostly along a flat path or verticle line. Train has two places to get on and off at, as with the elevators. Which by definition is made to transport people from one destination to another. Just because you don't get off and instead come back to the begining doesn't make a difference.

That can.. and has been discussed... without a definite answer... in a BB thread. By the way.. the pictures on the PKI site and the video Mr. Siebert showed are the same thing. The pictures are just stills from the video or other angles produced from animation.
-
Just PKI's is older doesn't mean it needs painted more. PKI's Eifel Tower has been repainted a few times since 1972 when the park opened. Don't assume the park doesn't set aside money for painting. They do, just not every year. Paint fades over time and eventually, in the elements, will chip or rust. PKI will paint it when they feel the need... which I believe is soon.
-
Sad thing is... I saw that 1997 layout and didn't think anything of it. I still remembered everything about it. Scary blast from the past.

If you've read any of the other forums you would have already seen that Jeff Siebert mentioned during the November 2 construction tour that there would most likely be a "big" announcement in March. Closed.

http://www.rcdb.com/installationdetail74.htm Well according to them it was Scooby Zoom. Beastie was Scooby Doo.
-
I do believe my first coaster was at a county fair or it was Scooby Zoom. (By the way Scooby Zoom is now Top Cat Taxi Jam). I can't remember which cause it was so long ago. I used to be scared s***less looking at most coasters and be so affraid to ride them. What scared me the most was being younger and seeing the Screamin Demon at PKI, which I never rode. I always thought it would fly off the end of the track. Finally I warmed up with the Screechin Eagle at Americana and he Beastie. Now you can't get me to not ride something. StXBomber... hands up on Xcelerator and TTD is great. Just gotta be quick during that launch since they won't launch you with your hands up. But front seat of Xcelerator... hands up... over the top hat... three times in a row... great experience I hope to get again during Winter Solace in March.

BookBags in Boomerang bay are they allowed?
Beastfreak replied to RevengeofTheSmurfs's topic in Kings Island
Its not banned... and its almost neccesary to have for some people who are visiting both parks. That way they can have change of clothes. Its really only the "unsafe" places that do no allow bookbags inside. Those are places near higher crime cities, which I think PKD might be one of those parks. I do know they had some new rules and such dealing with the problems of a knife fight in their parking lot last year. -
You can request all you like. No guarentee on anything.
-
Wow... this thread is just painful. The speedslides where taken out and the tower repainted being prepaired for new slides to be put on. Everything else is staying. Closed.
-
SOB... I'm one of the few people who actually really enjoy the ride.
-
Correct. 15 is the minimum age requirement for food service. Though remember, because of child labor laws, they aren't allowed to do much, so we limit the number we hire. Get there as soon as possible to have a better chance at being hired. Don't be knockin "food service" till you've tried it at Kings Island.

I would ride FOF all day if it were open. Funny quote from friend while talking about bringing back Winterfest. Tyson: "They would probably have the train open." Friend: "Where would they run it?"..... Tyson: "Uh... on the tracks that run between Rivertown and the Waterpark. Thats just a guess though."
