  1. A big part of the problem is that ride operators are not trained on show quality. They are trained on whether or not the ride is running correctly, etc., but not trained on what speaker should be playing what sound and so on and so forth. Talking with employees, they had no idea that Mystic’s plaza or Orion’s station ever even had music…
  2. The show quality on Mystic Timbers and Orion is embarrassing. The broken Shed music is just one aspect. The plaza music for Mystic Timbers also isn’t playing, and the last TV before going up the stairs has half of its screen burnt out. Over at Orion, the music doesn’t play in the station or above the lockers any more (although the speakers above the lockers DO still play the Kings Island Live app announcement). The light in the meteor doesn’t work anymore either. I understand if things like these have problems for a day or two, but there’s no excuse for these things having been down/broken for a month at this point—especially on two showpiece rides for the park.
  3. The red and gold bulbs in the above photos are in Oktoberfest (Germany).
  4. RIP to a true pioneer in amusement park journalism. Very sad.
  5. Sorry for the double post, but for anyone who was unable to attend Coasterstock, you can watch my presentation on Kings Island: A Ride Through Time right here! I had a lot of fun at this event. Enjoy! https://youtu.be/1UzlQHvAclc
  6. Apparently that is “broken,” along with the plaza music, the music in Orion’s station, and the speakers above the Orion lockers. I’m not really sure what the issue is this year with the park’s music. Between broken soundtracks and extremely short, awful music loops (which has somewhat been rectified), music has definitely been a struggle spot for the park this year.
  7. Awesome to see you guys there tonight. I hope you enjoyed it. Thank you to the KIC Podcast for publicizing the book, and thank you to this site and its members for all the support for this book!!
  8. I am so excited for this book signing event! I can’t wait to see everyone there.
  9. Happy early birthday, and I hope you enjoy the book!
  10. Be sure to stop by Emporium between 1 and 3 p.m. on Saturday. I will be doing an official book signing event!
  11. Be sure to tune in to the Cincinnati 55KRC Morning Show tomorrow (7/7) at 8:00 a.m. for the scoop on Kings Island: A Ride Through Time! Every KI Central user will love listening to this great live, on-air conversation.
  12. The soundtrack hasn’t been playing in the plaza the past couple times I’ve been there. I asked the Greeter yesterday if it was broken or if someone forgot to flip a switch, and she said that there never was a soundtrack in the plaza! So in other words, don’t expect that to come back anytime soon. On the bright side, if anyone wants to listen and/or record the truck audio, now is the perfect time.
  13. Sorry for the double post, but here is the new parade. Looks great!
  14. Little preview of the new parade, which is debuting this weekend:
  15. I saw the extended preshow yesterday, I really liked it! I liked the original one a lot, and the new one is longer with some very nice animations that communicate the story very well to guests.
  16. Thank you for your kind words; you made my night! It really means the world to me. I’m so glad you enjoyed the book that much! So rewarding for me to read. I really enjoyed working on it, so I love reading that it paid off for you!!
  17. Very sad, I wish that their photo albums would be saved online (they won’t be). Their photo gallery is very well-organized and easy to navigate! A great look at the park in the mid-to-late 2000’s.
  18. I always heard the deck was closed because of ADA issues. The only way to access it is via stairs, and it would be expensive to build a stop for the elevator there, not to mention reduce capacity. @calakapepe you are correct, John Harter fell from the interior of the 275-foot level. He climbed over the fence on the 50-foot platform onto the inner emergency staircase, which he used to get to the inside of the top.
  19. Save the date for this great virtual event on June 16 at 7 p.m. covering all things Kings Island: A Ride Through Time! Details on how to register are on the attached flyer. “See” you all there!
  20. I rode Snake River Expedition both today and yesterday! Very fun and clever ride; something really different than anything else at Cedar Point. Great theming all throughout too, complete with an IMAScore soundtrack! I’m really surprised I haven’t seen more people talking about this ride on the interwebs.
  21. This isn’t true; I bought and used their version of Fast Lane when I went this past March. It worked in the exact same way as the Cedar Fair version.
  22. Thank you for reading the book! I hope you enjoyed it.
  23. You’ll have to read the book to find out!
  24. Did they? Read Kings Island: A Ride Through Time to find out.
  25. Kings Island did not take anything from Great America. Cedar Fair’s corporate office made a decision about Great America that affected Kings Island, but Kings Island as a park did not make any decisions about Great America. I would suggest reading the new book Kings Island: A Ride Through Time. It will certainly clear some things up for you!
