The only problem I have with that rumor is that there really is no room to do anything good with a coaster at that location. I dont even know if there is enough room to build a station unless you tear down Wings. I dont think that would be a good decision at all.

I think it be cool if they dropped Wings and utilized the former old time photo and rivertown mining company buildings that were used for fearfest last year to create some kind of western themed coaster in that area and really give Rivertown a western feel again. I really wish they still had the water running on Beast still on the old gold sleuth.

Tom, I wanted to respond to your comment about the Reds in the SF 3-post-then-closed thread by stating that the Reds have won 7 of their last 10 games. And I don't like how some of the newer members to the site are making these pointless posts in new threads. This one is even talked about on several other threads and he probably heard it from one of those.

This is very true that there is a limited amount of land around the lake area. If you look at satellite shots of KI you can see that area isn't much bigger than the land that IJST sits on. I would like to see a B&M dive coaster that dove into the lake but then you'd have to drain the lake in order to build the tunnel and then refill it which would be a hassle.

Like other posters have said, there is no room to put a decent coaster here. They wouldn't tear out Wings after they have made it a buffet type restaraunt, something that Cedar Fair likes to have in all of their parks. Since they just put in Firehawk, I wouldn't expect a new coaster of any kind for a few years.

Or course there's room. Trust me, there's plenty of developmental land (or real estate as KI Execs call it) in Rivertown. I personally think Rivertown is RIPE for a new coaster. Imagine something along the lines of a Maverick themed coaster... makes total sense.

Now WHEN we may see it is another subject altogether.

I was referring to the lake location, not Rivertown in general.

Once more I'll bring up my Accellorator/Maverick style theory.

Those empty buildings near wings can be used for a station/queu etc. The trees inbetween that and the lake would be launch/brakes, and the actual ride would go around the lake.

For me, anything that would restore some of the old River Town atmosphere would be great. A roller coaster would rock but personally, I'd like to see TR:TR rethemed as an abandoned mine shaft. The whole hidden Asian temple thing just doesn't fit in that area of the park.

While not impossible, I highly doubt a new coaster is in the plans for the next 2 to 3 years.

I would also hope that it would not go over the lake. There are many other areas where a coaster could go that would not take away from an area that is still soft on the eyes.

How about a coaster located between The Beast and TR:TR that extends south towards Boomerang Bay? Something like Maverick there would be amazing.

Technically it would be heading West to get to Boomerang Bay but also WWC and the picnic grove would be in the way of it going to Boomerang Bay. They could possibly put a coaster behind TR:TR because there's quite a bit of room but the problem is getting a queue line back there.

There is an access road in between The Beast and TR;TR I do not see any problem with a line heading in that direction. The only problem is most parks do not like to "cut off" access to rides like TR;TR for one reason or another.

They could do a lot of things. But the point I am making is if they build there, they will be cutting off TR;TR back stage area from the access road and breaking the illusion by making the back stage area visible from a stage area. A ride like TR;TR is very temper mental and needs a lot of attention, that alone would make it difficult to have an uninterrupted stage area behind it.

That only solves half the problem. What do you do with guests once they leave the queue and are exiting the ride?

Yes, most of the backstage areas and roads are considerably well hidden from public view. About the closest guests get to seeing them is seeing the backstage area for TR:TR from The Beast and seeing the buildings over by The Racer and Flight of Fear/Firehawk. Otherwise, most of the maintenance roads are pretty well tucked out of site from plain view of the public.

A new coaster? Not next year probably. Although I have heard a rumor that the train may be getting some attention... ;)

And about new stuff, anybody know what the land clearing near Xtreme Skyflyer (check it out from the Son of Beast station) is for? Like, maintence, or entertainment?

It actually is not that large of an issue.

Consider the simple fact that many areas of the park are not connected directly to access roads.

At one time, very few areas had direct connection to access roads.

Wonderland was the first KECO park that was built with total access to all large food, merch, game, entertainment and ride locations.

Just a note about the satellite pictures... Did you notice that this picture is WAY out of date? This photo shows Water Works before it was Boomerang Bay, and the Eagles are still there!
