FOFirehawkFAN
Hey just thought id share this with everyone. Just about every ride that was at GL is now listed for sale on http://www.intermarkridegroup.com/ I noticed Double Loop, Villian, Raging Wolf Bobs, Beaver Land Mine Ride, The Big Dipper, Grizzly Run, Time Warp, and Im sure there are many others. Kinda sad cause I had heard rumors of the Beaver Land Mine Ride going to Cedar Point with all the newer kiddy rides for a possible renovation of the childrens area. I was also hopeing to maybe see Time Warp or at least one decent flat ride make it to Kings Island
AintNutinElse2Do
It seems to me that it would be more beneficial financially to move some of those rides to other parks rather than sell them all. I mean do you sell a ride at 1/4 of normal cost (est.) or do you spend a little money and get a new ride for one of your parks for half the price. It just seems like there would be more to gain by relocating more. I know Cedar Fair is in debt but seems like you could get out of it quicker if your parks were doing better rather than taking everything to the pawn shop so to speak. It would be cheaper to move the old rides from GL to CP, KI, and others and introduce them as "new" rides than sell the old rides and then spend money on new rides for CP, KI, and others. Browntggrr
^ While it would make sense from a financial standpoint, those rides really are not worth getting moved to another CF park, with the exception of Big Dipper. Other than the Dipper, none have a big enough draw to warrent a move.
JacksonPKI
I noticed the Villain and RWBs, and there trains have put at KI, Could this be a sign of one of them coming to KI? Why would they sell it to SFNE (for example,) and have the trains at KI? I smell something big!
The Interpreter
Villain and Raging Wolf Bobs are being sold WITHOUT their trains. So, even if their trains are at Kings Island, you smell something else...
JacksonPKI
oh, sorry, that was the day old cheese I smelt. Your right, Interp, I looked that over. Parks can buy there own trains.
The Interpreter
Well, given the huge expense of buying trains, the high labor cost and transportation cost of relocating a wooden coaster and the relative economy of buying new wooden coasters as opposed to relocating an existing one (especially given modern design standards and safety constraints), not selling the trains with the coasters makes it far less likely the coasters will sell. . .or sell for very much other than the scrap value. Meanwhile, Cedar Fair can soothe those who wanted the coasters relocated but didn't have the wherewithal or knowledge to do so...we tried to sell them. See? Really, we did! Note, however, that Big Dipper is offered WITH its trains...Those trains are rare, and to get them, at least for now, you must also buy the coaster. JacksonPKI
So what your saying is, is that it's easier to Buy new that relocated old, and Cedar Fair took advantege?
The Interpreter
I'm saying Cedar Fair wants to maximize its advantages, as any company would...in both economic return and public image. When you can do both at the same time, so much the better!
JacksonPKI
Ahh, exactly. Now again, I saw big Dipper for sale up there so I don't know, but, The Big Dipper is the oldest roller Coaster in Ohio, and the 11th oldest in the world, Don't you think Cedar Fair would want to keep a coaster like that? But it's also great value, so from an economic standpoint, it would be great to sell it, So It Comes down to does CF want money that could turn into customers or customers that could turn into money? (I could have my own Point-Counterpoint show!)
FOFirehawkFAN
I kinda would have liked to see Time Warp, a new flat ride and a bathroom be enough to make X-Base it's own area. Alone no none of the rides left have enough value as "NEW" rides in another park but if it is enough to make a new area...?

Something that is similar to a flat ride that they may have had in the early 80's. The skylab, haily's comet, ferris wheel, etc. They need something like that, however more bold to fit the 21 century. Old tech and new tech must meet. Just my opinion even if it is odd. I know Skylab was not an early 80's ride. I also know that Haily's comet came from Coney Island. (Sometimes I just get lost in my thoughts.....) italianchef
Kings Island (and every major amusement park) should have a ferris wheel. But I don't see one coming to KI anytime soon.

Browntggrr
So Help me SOMEBODY BETTER BUY BIG DIPPER! If that ride does not sell I will never leave My Room again! And if you don't do your homework, or your chores, mom and dad will make sure you don't leave your room either. Seriously, sit back and think about it... If removing and reconstructing BD was that easy, CF would not be selling it. And on top of that, if it was easy, another park would have jumped at the chance to buy it. But still, no takers. I think there are many things behind the scenes that none of us will ever know. Perhaps due to BD being as old as it is, parts are difficult to come by. Maybe there just trying to see if they can get some quick cash, and if they don' sell they will relocate them.
