BoddaH1994
I have been informed that VisitKingsIsland.com is down due to routine maintenance. Please do not confuse this with a relaunch. It should return Friday. Ryan
Erosarrow05
perhaps someone knows what kind of "routine" maintenance would cause the site to be down for 48 hours?
Gordon Bombay
Sure, they're routinely revamping the site to be in line with the other Cedar Fair websites
WooferBearATL
Yes We won't call it a relaunch. We'll call it a ...... Revamp and Restructure.
BoddaH1994
I don't have any information beyond what was supplied in the above post. However, I was told to warn you guys of the downtime when it occurred so you wouldn't get your hopes up. Plus, if they were going to launch a new site, it would take 30 seconds, not two days. Maintenance on the other hand can take days depending on what's going on.
JacksonPKI
Are they getting rid of the paramount logos that pop up on the tabs and the paramount logos on the side of the screen when visiting a ride's page?
BoddaH1994
Are they getting rid of the paramount logos that pop up on the tabs and the paramount logos on the side of the screen when visiting a ride's page? Again (and those of you know who a lot about web programming can back me up on this) if they were going to change anything with the web site, they'd do it offline and seamlessly upload it. The change would take a matter of seconds, not days. If anything, this is an indication that it truly is just maintenance. They could be working on the mainframe or something. DeLorean Rider
Are they getting rid of the paramount logos that pop up on the tabs and the paramount logos on the side of the screen when visiting a ride's page? I'm sure they'll definately keep those for old times sake.
CoastersRZ
Yeah, most web updates are usually pretty seamless. But if they need maintenance or to fix something on the servers, that can take some time, and result in the sites being offline. I would venture to say that all the former Paramount Park websites are still on the same server, which is why all the sites are down. I do wonder though, how long it will be before they finally perge those sites of all references to Paramount. There are still quite a few references on there. Dane
All the paramount sites are run of a CMS content system. If they are upgrading the engine that powers it, it could take that long. That is of course because you're not Dane.
KIBeast
Yeah, but who could be Dane?
Beastfreak
Dane is actually a T-120 created by skynet to enslave us all.
Browntggrr
If there were changes made, they don't seem to be very drastic. The site looks the same to me. http://www.visitkingsisland.com/#actions
Dane
PKI.com seems to be down. VisitKingsIsland.com still has the Paramount logo as a favicon.ico
Jasper
I hardly evert visit that site anymore mainly because i know most of the specs on the rides and if i want pics of them i either come here, rcdb, coastergallery, or many many other websites. But glad to see the site revamped.
TH13TEEN
If you go to Cedarfair.com and click Kings Island the site is still down

TH13TEEN
Do they have three sites for Kings Island
JacksonPKI
If there were changes made, they don't seem to be very drastic. The site looks the same to me. http://www.visitkingsisland.com/#actions If you typed in visitkingsisland.com it would reconize it, but if you looked at the top the domain name would still be pki.com or something along those lines. Now, It's officaly www.visitkingsisland.com. And when you're reading the stats for a certain ride, it doesn't have the Paramount logo next to it. And on the top of the tabs it doesn't say Paramount's Kings Island.
CoastersRZ
Yes, they finally removed the old PKI logo on the rides stats. However, I still see Paramount`s on the tabs and title bars when I`m on the rides stats pages. And don`t forget the favicon is still the Paramount logo. JacksonPKI
^I don't Get the Paramount logo on the tabs! That's odd....
Delirium13
Yeah, the only difference I realy see is that instead of it redirecting to www3.cedarfair.com/ahjkhlr4303........ and all that stuff, it say www.visitkingsisland.com. Seems like good use of a few days of downtime to me...
Kawana
The names of the rides affected by the switch from Paramount have been changed on the site, FYI...

Kawana
Old News. Really, was it? I hadn't seen anything about it in this thread, so I thought I'd let people know. If it was posted in another thread, I did not see that. I now know that it was mentioned on page 8 of a 13 page thread, so my bad....
