I don't know if you can say that... granted, they just added a few smaller (using the word 'smaller' loosely) attractions and not some multi million dollar coaster or whatever, but you have to think... they more or less gutted and redid the area... anything that wasn't removed was revamped or repainted.

Speaking as a lifeguard that works CDBB...or 'worked'..since the season is now over. I feel the changes made this past year added greatly to the park. It was very much a success. The crowds most days were insane. I've never worked, or been to a water park...and I've been to quite a few....where hour waits were normal during peak times for some of the rides.

Don't expect as much to be done this winter as was done last. About the bigest change this winter will be a loading platform for the Lazy River...maybe some Trex instead of wood on the older rides...like Snowy River Rampage, Sidney Sidewinder, and Down Under Thunder. DUT may get more than just new decking though....the water pressure has been falling the last couple of years and many people are complaining about getting stuck in the slides when they wear sticky suits...like basketball shorts or terrycloth shorts.

As far as new rides. A water coaster is being thought about...but don't expect that until 2006. They need to get back some of the millions they spent this past winter first..before they can add more rides. Next year look for more cosmetic changes. filling in more of the dead areas....plants...signage...trees...and hopefully...a few more places to eat:)

Overall, I think that Crocodile Dundee's Boomerang Bay was a great addition to PKI.

First off, the park has made great strides this year to bill itself as a Hollywood park. The name CDBB implies a Hollywood theme, whereas the name WaterWorks sounded like a utility company.

Second, WaterWorks was a pretty generic, concrete water park. CDBB is a great improvement for its atmosphere and new rides.

Third, CDBB adds somewhat of an international flair to the park.

In conclusion, CDBB was a great move on the part of PKI.

Have a great day!

Well the park could have been more on the intovation side than it was. What I mean is make some type of water slide we have never seen before. Or make a Master Blaster. The park really needed to be expanded and not remodeled. I say remodeled because of how they kept alot of the old things. Really they only added like 2 or 3 things.

The park could have done a much better job.

I like Boomer Rang bay and all but I think the park could have done a much better job on it.

I totally disagree. I was totally blown away by how well it was done.

Yeah, compared to WaterWorks Boomerang Bay is much better! I went to Boomerang Bay more this year than I went to WaterWorks the whole time it was open.

I don't know, I thought Boomerang Bay was better than I expected it to turn out.

I think Boomerang Bay, besides being overly hyped as always, turned out pretty good! The new additions were much needed and really did enhance the experience. I surely spent A LOT of days over there. I would still like to see the older slides get some much needed TLC though, mostly just some new coats of paint to bring them up to par with the slides added. It was like going into two seperate worlds....bright, colorful new additions then you walked to the back where the old, faded slides were. Just my thoughts...

I worked Waterworks and Boomerang Bay, and although I too believe that Boomerang Bay was hyped up (as usual) by the park a little too much, it was a unheard of addition for PKI. Never in their history have they had a renovating project like this one. The only thing that stuck out in my mind was the lack of shade that they promised. Sure there were some Solar Shades but these canopus were just in Jackaroo, and on the beach of Kookaburra. They added more concrete, something they promised there would be less of. The renovation did, however, cost much more than the park had anticipated. For example:

Did anyone visit the park at the beginning of the year, and notice the beautiful fountain and how it had the cool padded surface wrapped around the fountain that welcomed guests into Boomerang Bay? It had to be taken out in the middle of the season and renovated along with the beach of Kookaburra Bay in order for safety concerns. There were slips and falls every weekday and weekend for that matter and it seemed as though first-aid was constantly at KB or the fountain. The guests did get clever, however, and turn the fountain into a "Slip-&-Slide" game. It was quite amusing.

On top of this, there were problems this year with Snowy River Rampage. Imagine that... it's been having problems... and the lift had to be fixed, as well as the conveyor. So all in all, the park was, indeed, beautiful and well thought out. However, there were some glitches which needed to be worked out, and this can be expected. I do think that some things were missed, but in the park's defense, I believe that they will fix these and revamp these in the years to come. One day at a time, right?

You know, in four years of working in the waterpark, I only visited the waterpark once on an off day to enjoy it. Granted, I had visited Waterworks before I had worked there, but that was such a long time ago and I remember it as huge lines. But, when I went this year to visit the park for fun, I was blown away with how much fun I had in the park. There is an atmosphere, there are new rides, there are new attractions, the park itself is very different from its predecessor. The rides they added are a ton of fun, especially Tasmanian Typhoon. Tasmanian Typhoon might be one of my favorite rides in the park, it was that fun.

Boomerang Bay pulled off things that were quite impressive from many standpoints. Poolside service was started and continued throughout the season. From them you could have lunch or dinner brought to your lounge chair. The Cabana Service started and was actually extremely successful in its first year. There you had top notch hosts trying to fulfill your every need as much as the possibly could. Food Service expanded their operations in the waterpark to include a subway, an "Aussie" Eatery and a Walkabout Pub. Merchandise expanded their flagship store and expanded their product offerings (as well as adding AC to the Stockroom :D ). Lots of Landscaping was done, painting was done, retheming was done, it was a very impressive, different place. Waterworks was an extremely drab, soft toned, generic park. Boomerang Bay had a vibrant atmosphere, color, theming, and an overall experience. That is what put Boomerang Bay so far ahead of its predecessor.

Sure, extra things could have been done, or things could have been done better. It was a pilot year for the park, and there were glitches to work out in all aspects of the new park, and criticisms to be had. That is to be expected, and as the year progressed many of those glitches and criticisms were assessed and rectified. Sure it would have been nice to have more glitz and glamour, but then the glitz and glamour they did add over the off season was more than enough to wow the guests that we entertained. If it was not then the park would not have been one of the Top 5 Waterparks in the Country as Rated by Amusement Today.
