Hi Everyone!

I am visiting Cedar Point for the first time sometime this summer,

We are going to go during the workweek and going for one day only. We plan to leave early in the morning and eat lunch when we get to the hotel around 11, and after lunch we spend lunchtime to closing time at the park.

Please post any Tips, Sugestions, Advice. Any Advice is apreciated.

Thank you!

How are you getting in Cedar Point? Do you have Platinum Passes? If so, you might want to adjust your trip to take advantage of early ride time. Where are you staying? If you are staying on property, you DEFINITELY want to take advantage of early ride time. Cedar Point is a destination park, and is far busier during the week than many expect, most of the time.

When are you going? June is a LOT less busy than July and August...

We have Platinum Passes. We are probably staying in some Hotel off site.

We plan to go during June, but things Change easily in this house.

So if you could have a long, well written post on why I should stay more than 1 day so I can show it to my parents that would be great! ;)

Yes, the gates open at 9am for Platpass people. You get a one hour head start before the general public gains access to enter the park. But only a couple rides are open between 9-10. Iron Dragon, MF, Raptor, Maverick, Skyhawk, and Planet Snoopy (Kiddieland). I highly suggest going to the marina gate before 9am and waiting for it to open, then move quickly over to MForce.

I think CP cannot be done in a day. There are so many coasters and rides, it takes at least two days. Early entry would definitely be a plus. However, I would not suggest queueing up for Maverick first thing as it still has some technical difficulties and from what I understand, if often opens later than the rest of the rides. I would go for Raptor, Millennium Force, or Top Thrill Dragster. Some lines that generally are not very long include Wicked Twister {may I suggest the very back seat} (never have seen a wait time longer than 30 minutes), maXair (about 1-2 cycles max), Cedar Creek Mine Ride (about 15-20 minutes).

Don't miss the Geminii coaster. It races and you are close enough to the other train to slap hands with the other riders. It has some great air time and an awesome helix finale. Of course, there's also the legendary Magnum XL 200. Great air time and the bunny hops on the return give wicked ejector air time.

Maverick is also extremely fun with the 95 degree first drop that makes you feel like it's going to toss you out of your seat, some great air time, and an awesome second launch through the tunnel.

I thoroughly enjoyed Skyhawk. It looks and feels like a giant, air-powered swing set.

If you like drop rides, Power Tower is pretty awesome in its' own right. Also, towards the front gate is Demon Drop. It's not as large as Power Tower, but has a gut wrenching drop. Corkscrew is fairly good...however, the corkscrew over the midway can't be beat. It's a nice place to take pics as well. As far as I know, Wild Cat is still down, which is a shame as I find it to be a very fun small coaster.

If you like stand-up coasters, Mantis is pretty good. A great layout. However, be advised that I have heard many people complain of the comfort (or lack thereof) of the nether region (groin area).

The Blue Streak is a classic out and back wood coaster that is filled with airtime. Very fun. The Mean Streak is a rather large wooden coaster towards the back of the park. I have read many complaints about its' roughness, however, I find it to be no rougher than The Beast. Its' wooden structure is certainly a sight to see.

Well, I hope all that info. is of some use to you. Have a great time and please feel free to post a Trip Report afterward to let us know how you enjoyed Cedar Point.

Some tips:

Considering that this is your first trip to CP, you really need to be at the park for 2 full days, and since you have a Platinum Pass, you have aleady paid for your admission to the park. You can find a hotel near the park that is cheap, but may not be the nicest room that you have stayed in. The Value-Inn Motel http://travela.priceline.com/hotel/overvie...ky-4335903.html is just East, about 3 miles, from the park entrance and is a ok place. It has beds, a shower, and a TV and that is about it. No phones, but I'm sure you or your parents, or yourself, have a cell phone. I have stayed there a few times when I was younger and for $46/ night, that place is tough to beat. The cost of two nights there is cheaper than one night most other places. And if you bring your own food like subs or cold cuts, and drinks, you can really cut down on the expenses.

CP is a big place, and can be difficult to manage for first time guests, and what I mean by manage is what rides to hit at what time. Maverick and Millenium Force are normally the longest lines in the park. It is a great idea that you will be going during the week due to both of those rides will have about an hour wait during the day. Now if you get in early and hit both rides during ERT, you do have a good shot at getting on all 17 coasters, but if you would go for 2 days, you would definately hit all the coasters and all the thrill rides without feeling rushed.

The weather is also a big deal at CP. Storms on Lake Erie can come in VERY quickly, and be rather severe. CP will shut down their coasters at the threat of rain for safety reasons. Wind also plays a big factor for operations. If it is really windy coasters like Raptor and TTD will shut down. Only going for one day puts all your eggs in one basket. If it does happen to be a bad weather day, you could be walking around the park looking, not riding, at some great coasters and knowing that you only have one day. A two day trip gives you a better window of opportunity to enjoy the park completely.

I would also jump on http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/visit/tod...th=6&day=10 and click the day you are planning on going to see if there is a special event going on. I personally would not go during a special event due to the amout of people that potentially could be at the park.

What I will often do is a 1.5 day trip. Drive up to CP on Sunday afternoon and be at the park about 5 pm Sunday night. The park often times clears out on Sunday night and you can get on a bunch of rides and then also see what you are in store for for your full day and plan with your group as to what to go on. And then go all day Monday and come home Tuesday.

I hope this helps. If you have anymore questions, just let me know.

Magnum is my faviorte ride in the park. Make sure to ride towards the back. I think Millennum Force is over rated and you shouldn't wait for over 30 minutes to ride unless its your first ride. Make sure to hit up Maverick. Mean Streak sucks so if your time is a problem don't worry about not getting to ride that. Mantis is a once a day coaster. Blue Streak is just a plain classic and you got to ride it. raptor is one of the best inverted rides dont miss it.

2 days is a must at CP

I went 3.5 days this year and still didn't get ride enough. Of course it also rained almost every day.

Most of alll have fun!

Do NOT miss riding Magnum XL-200. Wildcat's a hidden gem too. Other than that, make sure you hit up Millennium and Top Thrill Dragster. Yeah... it's kind of a coaster park.

O.K. Judging by how many posts you have I think I can trust you! ;)

Do you get Early Ride time every day at Cdar Point (Please Say Yes!)?

I just got back from Cedar Point and Early Ride Time is a must. Maverick has about a 5 min wait in the morning. Wildcat is closed down not sure when it will reopen.

I say the most cheapest and best place to say is a motel 5-10 min away from the park called the melrose motel it's a nice family owned motel It's like around 50-60 dollars a night and thats a room with 2 King Beds I believe I recommend it to anyone but you have to call to make reservations.http://www.melrosemotel.com/ There is the link to there site.BTW they own 2 motels Melrose the one I stayed at and Seacrest more in town

For a very reasonably priced motel, try the Seacrest Motel which is about 5 miles from CP. It is an older motel but the rooms are very clean and it has a pool. The rooms even during the peak summer season average at just about 50 dollars a nite. The owner of the motel, Vicky, is a real sweetie.

I also highly recommend a two day trip so you are not rushed. Since you have a platinum pass, definitately take advantage of the early ride time.

If a one day trip is all you have, I would recommend you do the park as follows. Enter the park from the back near the Magnum and plot your attack from there. Start first at Maverick, then MF, then Raptor. From Raptor, I would hit Blue Streak, then Wicked Twister, then Power Tower. From Power Tower, simply go in a counter clockwise direction starting at the Top Thrill Dragster Midway and work your way around-ride Top Thrill Dragster, then Magnum, then maybe a little break at Paddle Wheel Excursions ( love the corny jokes.), then Gemini, then Cedar Creek Mine Ride ( I usually skip this as a lot like Adventure Express although I think Adventure Express better.), then Sky Hawk. If it is a really hot day, go to Snake River Falls next where you will get drenched. Then hit Mean Streak ( which I like. Wish they didn't have to have the trim breaks. ) Then take the train through Boneville ( a wild west ghost town- wish they would theme KI train more.) The train will take you to where MF and Mantis are located. Ride Mantis. ( which I love-recommend you lean your head forward so doesn't get banged and bend your knees a bit so they don't get sore. )

If you can manage two days, you obviously won't be stressed for time. Plus you can check out some of the great live shows- The Misadventures of Molly and Maverick at the Palace Theatre by Mean Streak (formerly called Lusty Lil's) is a must.

Hope you have a great time.

I hope you all don't mind me jumping in on this topic, but a group of us are going to CP the weekend of June 20th. I had read about the different entrances to CP. Which one is the better one to go in? Two of us have passes and the rest don't, so we won't be able to do ERT, so any way that would trim off some walking would be great!

We are not interested in pools and whatnot. We are there for Cedar Point! ;)

When we went to Rumblefest we stayed in a Holiday Inn Express with one room. I really didn't care cause at the Time I was dumbfounded by the Rumbler.

So what I am hearing is that I:

1. Should go at least 2 days

2. Should stay at a seperate hotel

3. Should Definately use ERT

4. Should Hit Maverick, MF, TTD, Raptor, and Blue Streak

5. Should have a good time.

I cannot give Cedar Point tips without a strong recommendation to do Gemini, especially when the park is very busy (which is most likely when Gemini runs both sides). Maverick is worth the wait, and also don't miss Blue Streak. I can't think of one coaster you should avoid, but Cedar Creek Mine Ride may be a tight fit, depending on your size - and try to ride Mean Streak in the front of a car (not necessarily the VERY front seat of the train, but that wouldn't hurt, other than the additional wait). If it's windy, hang around Dragster... rollbacks may be abound.

Can you do all of Cedar Point in just one day? Possible, but difficult without a plan of attack. Allow for two days and relax - I know that two-day tickets include Soak City as well.

My parents would NEVER plan a Theme Park Trip. NEVER. They know that Cedar Point is the biggest theme park in the world, yet they insist on going one day.:huh:

It is too bad that your parents insist on a 1 day trip.

Only because, there is so much to do there, it would be practically impossible to do it all in one day. And considering that this will be your first trip, if you went two days this year, you would not have to go back for a couple more years.

You definately need to go to the resort entrance, that is easily the best option.

And as far as what rides to hit, that is one rider's opinion. I personally love MF, whereas others don't care for it. Others love Magnum, where I say that it is a good ride. You really need to go on all the rides to form a good opinion.

I kind of agree, it usually takes atleast two days just for the coasters and good thrill rides. All though i got everything done atleast once, and Millie eight times, TTD three times, Raptor six times, Maverick four times, ect... but i got to the park at 5am. and stayed til 12:20 (midnight) and rode coasters non-stop. So i recomend staying two days.
