CoastersRZ
And yes, Firehawkboy is correct, they have not placed any track yet on the decent for the fifth hill. What appears to be the accent is actually the rise up into the third drop. They will likely work on the decent of the fifth hill tomorrow. Based on the current rate of progress, I`d say that the ride steel will be in place if not be the end of this week, then sometime next week. firehawkboy
They are putting the crown of the 5th hill on now. EDIT: And Casper is by the 2nd helix.
Beast1979
What makes you think that they aren't getting a new ride. Have you read the blog lately? Thrill_Biscuit
Looks like we got ourselves a convoy! That crane at the bottom (Casper?) reminds me of the old video game "Rush n' Attack".

CoastersRZ
Wow! Now that is an AWESOME picture! Thanks for sharing it with us! Keep in mind that the path way that connects to Coney Mall was not built until Shake Rattle and Roll opened in 1975. And that Kenton`s Cove Keelboat Canal was not built until 1973. Reclaimer
SUre am. That has to somethign doesnt it? A park will never get nothing! Not to drag this off topic...but something needs clarified. Cedar Point built a new office building this past year that will house many offices for upper-management. While a park may "never get nothing" (???) the entry in question is more than likely nothing more than leading up to a discussion of either A) The marketing office moving to the new building or The marketing office is getting a renovated in its current location. coaster_junky
It's hard to tell but from that pic you can see that the rise up to the fifth hill and fifth drop are complete with only the crown left, and after that two simple helixes. so now is Diamondback going to have another element new to hyper coasters? or did you just forget about the mid course break run? Jasper
Very nice photo. Hard to beleive the park looked that nice on opening day. Also hard to beleive how much that would change until today. Looks so much different back there now.

Terpy, whose been through recessions before...by the way, what is Hard Rock Park getting? Every park will get something if you releazie it or not. It may not be a ride or attraction but something else. They all get rehabed and cleaned dont they!
The Interpreter
I shall not forget the last opening day Kings Island had under CBS management. The park did not at all look to be rehabbed and cleaned. In fact, there were still leaves from the previous fall in Viking Fury! And recessions are different. Many, many parks will not get much of anything new this year. Kings Island fans who expect something new EVERY year may not always get their expectations fulfilled...as has happened other places, it can happen here. I also note that you did not answer the last part of my question. What is Hard Rock Park getting? As has been noted, most probably dismantled...as was Geauga Lake's ride side... CoastersRZ
Look at 2008 as a prefect example of Kings Island not getting any new rides. Granted, we did receive some new shows, and had a major ride under construction for the following season. Look at Herschend Entertainment. They postponed the capital project that was to go into Dollywood in 2009 in light of the economy!

flightoffear1996
I didnt say every park gets a ride but they get something. Some parks get new owners, some parks get a general rehab, some parks GET a ride removed!
G-Force
Some parks get new owners Actually it would be the other way around, some owners get new parks. Since the owner does usually own the park, not the other way around. However I do that some parks get nothing, not even a little something. Take for example Alien Apex, this year they didn't even get money, in fact, they got money taken away from them!

It's very narrow-minded to say that KI didn't get anything in 08 because no new ride was installed. Rather we had some incredible new shows and amazing special events. I don't think anyone could really argue that it was one of the best seasons to be a Kings Island-er.

firehawk fan
This and this should answer your question. Wow! I can't believe how much has changed. Granted I was 30 years younger then!! Can't wait to see the finished skyline come this April! By the way, I live in Springfield and we are getting slammed with an ice storm! I wonder how this will affect construction today? How is the weather down in Mason? Maria
