Tomb Raider : Wetter Than Ever

Now on Tomb Raider, you won't just get hit by mist, you are drenched. The drops at the beginning of the ride from the huge iceberd/icecicles are now bigger and come faster and there are more, to the jets from the lava put being bigger and higher up, they also now hit people in the face. Let's just hope that PKI has enough since to wait until next year to keep them up all the way since its very cold now. Also I remember at the beginning of the season the ops were saying you wouldn't get very wet because they weren't turned up all the way due to the cold weather. They weren't turned up all year, now when it is getting cold again they turn them up.

Tomb Raider is also now much shorter. I remember during the begining of the ride you got up to the eyes person and than you go back. Now I think you go right up to the ice. And the jets are turned up because my friends face got washed. She said it felt funny and it was really cold. It was funny because we walked out and she looked like she ran 5 miles. Also I noticed a door to the left of the eyes person, and there were people in there.

Hi i am new here, but lets get on with it, if you only rode it a month ago "fyrfyrter", then you're right, it hadn't changed then. These changes have occured in the last 2 weeks. I know becuase the operator spoke on the radio and told us about it. and also, whoever said the ride is much shorter is dead wrong! it is in fact 20 secs longer! since the beginning of the year. and no, you still do the roll back after the room goes dark, post statue. the lights turn-off, you here music..."you're making a big mistake" is what lara says then you flip and thrust upward into the ice.

I don't know. It seems shorter and wetter to me. It just seems different to me than in the begining of the year. I rode it the first weekend it was open. My favorite memory is seeing all the cell phones in that water(lava). I havent remembered the sequence of movements. I've been to busy trying to keep my phone and wallet in my pockets.

Well yeah there is a door next to the face, it's where the ride is operated, it is very well hidden. However you can still see the people walking around inside. I don't know if you guys knew this, but the ride has 5 different things that can take place, like 5 different modes. So chances are some are shorter than the others.

Tanner no the ride does not have 5 different modes. It has one. They are adding modes supposedly for next year. I rode it 3 times in 3 different days and it was the same all 3 times so sorry your wrong. Also, it is a little longer with the face first ending. It does all the stuff I remember and adds the end so if anything it's a few seconds longer.

Just because you rode it 3 times in 3 days and it didn't change doesn't mean anything. Out of the 3 times I rode it this year (I know its not alot) the first one was normal because ya know you dont know what to expect, second time was different, and the third was the same as the first.

Tomb Raider does have the capability of having several different ride programs, but I do not know for sure whether more than one was used this season. I know they have changed and tweeked the ride program several times this season, but I do not know if they have initialized the random ride program.

Random Ride? ;) Interesting consept and I can see it happening. I was thinking more along the lines of the different modes is related to the wait time outside. Say that its super-crowded, the might set it to a shorter ride. As I said before, these types of rides have programs that can be changed and saved. B) With these programs, there can be on to as many as the computer memory can hold.

Tomb Raider operated all season using the same ride movements. Yes, Huss Top Spins are able to be programmed with different intensity levels, or ride programs. However, Tomb Raider's ride cycle has not been altered from it's opening program.

TR:TR has a very complex light and sound system. There have been changes to the effects, sounds and lights, but the actual movement of the carriage has not changed. I have seen the effects change many times. Some times there are sparks, some times there are not, sometimes the statue's eyes move, sometimes they do not, sometimes the statues turns evil, sometimes it does not etc etc etc. Why, on media day, the park was still trying effect settings and was asking folks which they preferred. Each time, the ride movement was identical, just with different effect uses and timings.

The water is adjustable by maintenance. This allows the park to adjust the height of the water jets according to their wishes. When the pressure is increased, the giesers raise to a desired level and can "hit" riders. The wetness of the ride did change over the season depending upon how the operations folks were feeling. By the way, the geisers are random and no front row seat is a guaranteed to be dry. I personally have never known a third row rider to get wet, since that protion of the carriage is the farthest from the water.

Tomb Raider's ride cycle is 2 minutes long. Fact is, they crammed so much in that it seems to fly by. The swelling fast-paced orchestrations (written specifically for the ride) also make the time pass quickly. The ride cycle did not change because it is timed with the soundtrack. The park is exploring and extended ride cycle time, but must invest in an extended soundtrack to do so. I have a feeling we may see this change, but there are no guarantees. I am sure that the cost of revamping the soundtrack is not cheap. PKI will have to weigh the importance of it, and if the attraction warrants more future capitol investment.

Who knows, we may soon see Tomb Raider: The Extended Dance Mix.

I personally love Tomb Raider. I have a feeling that in the future it will become one of those rides that people do not feel they 'have" to ride. Lines may dwindle. I had wanted PKI to install ride of this type after I had experienced Houdini at Great Adventure and New England. After I rode those, my thoguhts were "Man this would be a killer ride at PKI!" Well PKI went a step furthur and rally made a great experience with a ride unit that is actually pretty common in parks today. A lot of enthusiasts mouth off about being "deceived" or "duped" by PKI since the park decided to keep the ride unit secret. However those folks can only blame themselves for buying into the hype. IMO the hype was as corny and campy as the ride itself.... and that is why I love it. I find it a really hilarious attraction. It tries so hard to take itself seriously, yet makes me laugh more than most other rides in the park.

Why watching the statues eyes move back and forth is my favorite (and most corny) part. In a year when I lost a must do attraction (I rode Phantom Theatre EVERY time I visited PKI) I was relieved to find something took it's place. TR:TR is now a must do for me and I did not skip it on any visit to PKI this year.

I sat in the third row of the carriage several times over the season, and only got hit once by the water. it wasn't a direct hit, but did hit between myself and my buddy, and splashed us both.

I alos like how the tehming can do different things depending upon what is selected. I personally liked when the sparks come shooting out, but only got to see it once this year, the same time when I got splashed in the third row.

We were also unlucky enough on that same day of riding it, to be forced out of line, due to some moron pulling the fire alarm pull station, and the entrance to where the queue line enters the building. We asked the park employees about it, but they said that there are no video cameras in the queue, only on the ride itself. I wish I would have seen who pulled that, as it sucks for the rest of us, who enjoy rides, while one person is there to destroy our fun times.

After riding Tomb Raider 11 times today, I must say that the ride program is obviously the exact same every time (like I said, obviously), but I noticed how the water levels changed throughout the day. When we first started, the jets in the lava pit were bearly hitting the riders. By the end of the day however, I was getting nailed by a jet straight in the face that left me soaking.

I'm now a believer after the Discovery Channel shoot. Those water jets are pure evil! In all honesty, those things are tricky! One cycle they get you soaked and on the next one they barely get ya. However, after riding several times, I realize how fun those water jets really are! It's great to watch people get soaked but when your the one getting soaked it's great trying to dodge them. Didn't do a very good job of that though. Oh well!

Its called theming for a reason, it fits in the general theme of tomb raider the movie. Yes, the theming is good in the ride, and no, it doesn't have anything straight up to do with the movie, but the ride as a whole follows the theme of the Tomb Raider Movie, If it wasn't conjoined with something, it would just be another top spin, albeit a giant one at that.

Does Face/Off have anything to do with the movie? I know a different case but still just because a name doesn't mean it has to be the same. It is a good ride, but nevertheless the line is just to long for a giant flat. It is wetter though, I wouldn't have minded getting wet, I'm the guy who wares shorts on days like today (freezing cold in the morning)

i don't think Face/Off has anything to do with the movie, I think it is more like Face/Off in hockey, cause you get to face others who are riding the coaster with you.

I want to know, what the longest line anyone has been in for TR:TR. Everytime I rode it this past summer and fall, the wait wasn't more than 30 minutes. Not to mention, the building is nice and cool in the summer, and nice and warm in the winter.

My longest wait for Tomb Raider was on opening day, 2 1/2 hours. Well worth it I thought. Also how in the world can you say the lines are too long for a giant flat ride? The general public doesn't know it as a giant flat ride, they just know it as the newest ride in the park, along with if they've heard, one of the most thrilling and intense. If you don't want to wait long to ride a giant flat ride, guess what, next year doen't take a chance on Delirium. The rides are built big to attract people, and thats what they do.
