Hey just wanted to let you guys know that I am trying to get my hands on some construction photos of the Eiffel Tower.(yes Terpy, the one at KI. lol) My grandfather worked for the company (Evers Welding) that helped build it. I am trying to contact Ray Evers about obtaining any of the construction photos.

Actually there are Kings Island construction photos floating on the web somewhere... including a half built Eiffel Tower.

I have several pics on floppy in storage somewhere that show the park under construction. Problem is, they are buried in storage somewhere... oh, and the fact that I do not have a floppy drive anymore ;-)

Okay, this post has managed to drag me out of lurking. I have seen those....and used on of these back in the early 90's in schoolhttp://www.itechnews.net/tag/apple-iic/

To keep on topic, I would love to see pics of the KI Eiffel Tower under construction. Is there any pics of inside the tower above the top observation platform around? I know it is mostly the elevator mechanicals in there but it would be interesting IMO.

Floppy drives? I used to use the 7 inch floppy at college using an ancient Mohawk in the late 80's. Don't even get me going on the tape drives.

Terpy, old enough to remember huge floppies, and formatting same (three sizes of floppies, as a matter of fact...and I have some of the small, hard plastic ones on my desk right now....)

For just a few dollars you can get usb connection floppy drives (and I have them for just this kind of reason).

Nice to still be able to transfer media in all fashions even if older. Speed is not an issue just access.

Ahh you've got me remembering my high tech family and the pride we had in our new Apple IIe. Making printshop banners, playing Oregon Trail all day and learning math with Number Munchers.

I can tell you it did not look like this!

I used to play "Kings Quest I" on my Tandy 1000. Every 3 or 4 screens, I had to take one floppy disk out and put in another. Each screen took 10 seconds to draw, then the little "Sir Graham" character would pop onto the screen, to the soothing sounds of 2000HZ "birds" chirping. Ah, the good old days!

I have my Commodore 64 computer put away in storage. As for the 5 1/4 floppies, I still have the disk notcher I bought at a computer show to turn single-sided disks into double-sided disks. One of the things I remember most about my early days of computing was attending the latest computer shows to swap bragging tales about what new programs I had just successfully copied (I mean acquired). Anyone ever hear of the Fast Hack 'Em Program series of disk copiers?

Terpy immediately took one apart see what was inside...and the thin, filmy black plastic inside did indeed flop...as did the disk from then on!

We at home had the Tandy COMPUTER tandy TI 80 that was crazy!!!!For sure:

Then we got the tandy 3 the keyboard and computer was built together, then you hooked to a 13" color tv then saved everything on a computer cassette crazy finding the info on that!!

There are not too many pictures out showing the construction, to be honest, KI was not that well publicized during construction. It wasn't until it was almost ready that adds and news organizations started to show up. I know they are out there, and I might have some. I will run my punch cards and see if they are stored on them. (Any one up for a game of binary?)

The Commodore Vic 20 was my first...it didn't even have a floppy--it used a cassette deck instead! I still have the Vic 20 and cassette deck in a box in my garage...I've been trying to find some sort of "shadow box"-type display case to put it in. I figure I'll bring it into work--the IT geeks I work with would love it!!
