Avoiding the front gate photographers

Featured Replies

Of course one of the first things you encounter when you enter the park is the staff photographers for "Key Hole Photo".

The group i go with dread this part and we always split up like fish do when you put your hand in the fish tank. At times, I have ducked in a store to avoid my picture.

Does anyone else do that? Does anyone have any good stories about this?

If the Kaman employees regularly offered to take the pictures in front of the fountains, they probably would reach their quotas more easily and make more sales. That's one of the things that annoys me

  • Perhaps if the cost of the pic was more customer friendly, it would be more successful.   Other than that, we just say "no thank-you" and keep on walking.

And the picture will STILL be crappy and expensive. No. Thanks.

Just look forward and walk on.

I always just walk buy, not making eye contact (and walk the opposite direction from them). However, if they do say something, I politely say "no thank you". :)

Well me and my friend Jackie are just rude, right before they take the pic,we run away as fast as we can. So if you see 2 blonds running away from one of them, thatd be us :)

I always tell them I was there yesterday and they don't bother me. I was going to do it on opening day but I didn't see any of them.

They're people, trying to make a living. I find their job incredibly annoying but they do deserve respect. Kudos to those who politely so no and keep walking. Karma to those who are rude.

And they work on commission. For that reason, I will on occasion let them take my picture, though I have no intention of buying it. At Kings Island, do they get paid by the number of pictures they take or the number of pictures they take that are purchased? I have seen parks and their vendors do it both ways...

Really - they work on commission? Wow - that really surprises me.

When I go I try to take as many of those as possible.

My group will pass by, get one from every person, wait til shifts change and walk through again

Just why do you think they are so enthusiastic to take pictures?

Maybe KI could pay the Gold Pass lot attendant based upon how many non-Gold Pass cars they turn around to wake some of them up.

Honestly, it takes two seconds. Just let them take the picture. Makes them happy and you don't have to avoid them. There is no obligation to buy.

Couldn't agree more... I always stop and smile for a second and don't mind... After all, if my kids and I died in a car wreck on our way home, our family could find that little pink card and buy our last pic online......

Wow never thought of it that way. We sometimes stop all depends on how hard my little beasties are pulling me.

My mom usually says "no thanks, i have alot of those pictures." *opens purse searches through pretending to search for the photos * then the person who asked her usually just says its ok or walks away

I believe they have a quota of pictures they have to take, but I'm not totally sure on that.

Well the people at Canada's Wonderland wanted to get a picture of my whole family, just us 3 kids, and then just the parents... kind of weird, and at Cedar Point there's this one lady that walks around the entire park trying to take pictures. I see her everywhere.

I usally only stop and get my picture taken if im with my girlfriend, otherwise I pioloty(wow, I totally spelled that wrong) "No thank you, but thanks for asking".

I usually say no thank you but I did stop with giga for one on opening day that I later purchased. I don't see a point in being rude to them. I've been on the receiving side of enough unnecessary rudeness that I do my best to be polite and understanding to everyone.

Wow! Just wow! That is so funny, but yet it's not. Don't think like that, please.

Usually we let them take our pictures in past years, but this year they haven't really taked us to take our pictures. Also, sometimes we do just say no thanks.

well i do find it annoying but i think the world should be able to get a little taste of how amazingly handsome i am........

in the mornings, we show a pink card from last year and they let us walk by, and then in the afternoon, like when we come back in the park from walking our dog, we just tell them we had one taken that morning.

I ask them if their camera is insured, and they usually laugh. We always let them take our picture, but haven't bought one in a while.
