Best Diamondback Seats

Haven't seen a poll on this and wanted to see what everyone was thinking.

For me, my favorite is row 16 (airtime and the pull plus getting wet), but when I'm not there, I can't tell the difference between inside and outside seats. In addition, I think the ride has some great experiences in all seats - the view down the first hill from up front is great and the smooth airtime you get in the middle of the train rocks also.

I've ridden in the middle, front, and back. (1,6,14) and my best experience was in the front. I loved the feeling of being pulled over the hills that you get when you ride in the back but there is just something about that front seat that gets me.

It's a very though choice! I love the front cause there is alot of Ejector but still some floater air. The Hammerhead is most intense in the middle of the train. And the back, I just love getting pulled over those hills! So really, I'm fine with any seat but I prefer back most.

I am not scared of heights, but when you are at the creat of the hill at 230 ft in an outside row and you look down. It is very intimidting to me.

I have not had a bad ride on DB on any seat, but the rush of 8-3 or 8-4 IMO is better than 1-1 and 1-2. Even though 1-1 and 1-2 give their own experiences that I love as well.

My vote: back, outside seat

Row 1 or 2 is where it's at.

As much as I absolutely love getting yanked over the first three towering drops while riding in the back... the front has three things going for it that trump the back in my opinion.

1.) Great view - While the staggered/stadium seating really does offer a decent view even in the back or middle, there's something amazing about sitting up front and having nothing remotely blocking any part of your line of sight.

2.) Smoothness - While DB feels pretty much like riding on glass and avoids all of the painful transitions that Arrow's and Vekoma's are known for... there is a slight vibration in the back of the train. It's not painful, but I've found it can be a bit distracting from the rush of the ride.

3.) Ejector - aka, 'The Trim Hill'. I feel the front really offers more diverse air (floater, forceful floater, ejector) than the back. That hill immediately following the hammerhead turn is incredible. And despite the trim brake present (insert booing), that hill provides the most forceful burst of air on the entire coaster if you're riding in the front two or three rows. You're just shoved outta your seat and knocked right back down as you head into that helix.

I've been in the very front two rows, the middle, and the back row, and here's my analysis:

I have to agree with what has been said before. The back seat gives you a true appreciation for the speed of the ride. You're yanked down every hill, and the first hill in the back seat is possibly one of the best experiences in the park. That being said, the back is (comparatively speaking) more 'rough' compared to the front. It's just more forceful. But I like how you get misted nicely at the end, which is refreshing, not annoyingly wet.

The second best seats are the front 4. They're really isn't a noticeable difference between the front two rows, and the views they offer are awesome, especially looking down at the midway/crypt que on the first hill. The floating airtime in the front is far from subtle (more negative G's?), but still not painfully intense. It feels like to me that your floating from the top quarter of the uphill, all the way to the bottoming out of the drop. And the front is smooth as glass. I've been other B&M's and this ride is THE SMOOTHEST ride I have ever been on. What surprised me the most is that this ride is nothing like Magnum, the only other true hypercoaster I've been on. I think Diamondback is 10x better.

Out of the middle seats I've been on, the front middle offers the most airtime and is the best option IMO.

*On a side note, I rode Diamondback on one of the first weekends and I swear they didn't use the trim break on the hill, which made that hill AMAZING but I almost blacked out on the following helix (Reminded me of Millenium Force, a ride I love, but it didn't fit the ride.) so I guess I can see why they use it.*

For me it's a tie between row 1 and row 16.

I've only ridden row 1 once (night ERT during RWW), but have been assigned to row 16 two or three times...

Row 1 is fun because you're the first over the hills (nothing like looking down that first hill with nothing in front of you), but Row 16 is also a blast because you can get soaked and you get pulled over the hills.

Row 16, right side, brown train = LOVE.

Sorry I didn't get specific enough for you! :P

Seriously, what makes the right side and the brown train better for you. I've noticed no difference in train color (except random seats that seem tighter at the line than others), but actually prefer the left side as I think it feels more forceful (especially in valley between the second and third hills).

Green train is the tightest, I have to be stapled to get 3 clicks. Brown train and red train are about the same on size, I have a decent bit of room on both of them. Red train used to get you pretty wet but ever since one of the scoops got messed up (some parts were off of it for a while) you don't get as wet. Brown train will get you wettest. I like right side because it makes the helix more forceful but left because it makes the hammerhead better. If I had to pick one, I'd go with right. Plus right side is the side I've gotten the wettest on, I don't know if it's because of the scoop angle on that side, or I can just lean over further to the right than the left. I managed to get pretty much my entire shirt soaked on right side of brown train.

After yesterday, I have ridden Diamondback 10 times so far. The majority of those times were row 8 on back, one in row 5, and one in row 1. Row 1 gets my vote as the best seat on the ride. It seemed much faster, much smoother, and seemed to have a ton of more airtime than any other seat I've experienced on that ride thus far.

  • 2 weeks later...

Row 8 best floater air time for a full train. This would be an awsome to ride backwards (like The Racer did) perhaps for hallo weekends. I usually ride in which ever seat gets me on the next train.

It seems like the breaks on the hill hit harder than when the ride first opened. The breaks seem to help give floater air time. I noticed the following things were either added or changed since the ride opened:

A backup gas engine was added to the lift hill. The single rider line gate has been welded. Single rider passes are no longer used. A wood fence was built around the pond pipes. A container of broken phones was added to the que line for dispay. The web site used to list 1 hour of ER daily. Anybody else notice any other changes?

^^try using brake next time, not break.

brake: something used to stop something in motion (ex. the driver hit the brakes to slow the car down)

break: to snap (the weight of the old trains on Son of Beast caused a wood support beam to break)

and don't worry, i've done the same thing many times

Row 1 = Amazing experience! Amazing air time!

Row 12= Seems like the best seat with the best airtime.

Row 16=

If you put your legs out and arms up on the first drop, and the restraint isn't stapled... holy crap.

Just thought I would say this again... BTW Row 16 won for me!

I do that everytime I ride. I love the back seat it pulls you down those hills so fast and you gets lots of airtime.

I like the front seat because there is nothing blocking your view but back seat wins for me.
