Browntggrr
Eureka! Could they be considering a last rides auction? You mean actually PAY EXTRA to ride SoB? That is like going up to someone and saying: "I will pay you to kick me in the nuts."
CedarPointer
Hey, I'd pay extra to be the last rider on the roughest coaster in the world. *dodges tomatoes*

That is like going up to someone and saying: "I will pay you to kick me in the nuts." Oh, come on now. We are talking about SOB here not The Crypt! I'm glad they were running the trains. Maybe it is a good sign that SOB will re-open one day. Here's hoping anyway!!

Browntggrr
What month do you think the park will let us know what the plans are for SOB? One of the off-season months. KIfan1980
Was anyone there today at P&G day and see anything going on with it today? Yes, there were lots of people there today at P&G day and no, none of them saw anything going on with SoB today. But, I did take a couple of looks at SoB today (once from the Eiffel Tower and once from the Flight Deck exit) to see if I noticed anything that could be considered evidence to support Dvo's post. I can't swear to it, but I believe I saw water dummies sitting in or near the Red train - iPhone camera not good enough to document though. hausty1983
I'm thinking they want to see how those trains are holding up really to the water dummies and doing tests based on that because of the complaints all the time, the rosebowl was a factor come on people we don't know yet for sure whats going on, I just hope they can figure something out what could be done for sure whatever is best for the park is going to really have to be taken into action though. Guest TombraiderTy
And about SoB and replacing it - people, you can't think it will be replaced! I mean, not after it is destroyed. I mean, when Bat was closed, Vortex came at least 3 years after that (I'm probably wrong) and Delirium replaced King Cobra - I don't know. King Cobra closed end of 2000, Delirium opened 2003- two full seasons in-between with empty space. Bat closed sometime in 1982, Vortex opened 1987- a bit more than four full seasons. Wrong...King Cobra's last season was 2001. I knew that, just wasn't thinking and typed the wrong number Bat did not close in 1982. It ran from '81 until '84, and was removed before the start of the 1985 season (though it was closed most days while it ran). Vortex did indeed come 3 years later, in 1987. The last year The Bat ran was 1982- it was closed mid-season: Article
CedarPointer
What month did they let people know about... ...Phantom Theater? "PKI announced Phantom Theater would cease operation Sunday, July 14th, 2002. " -Dafe.Org Oh, really? "When DAFE first posted the rumor that Phantom Theater would be removed and be replaced by a Sally, Corp. interactive Scooby-Doo darkride over a year before, we didn't expect it to be removed from operation mid-season with virtually no notice. That is exactly what occurred. DAFE got a heads-up about it mere days before it closed. At that time PKI officially confirmed that the rumor was true, they would re-theme Phantom as Scooby-Doo and the Haunted Castle for 2003."
hausty1983
Well back on topic if SOB opened back up would there be a new deisgned train similar to the old ones?
josh4958
Are new trains (which would be a count of three types) be the answer or is it a track problem??
markhudson17
I believe new trains would make a huge improvement. The trains we have now were not designed for the ride.
CincyMan98
I don't like how short the trains are.....or does that make it better? To me it looks weird. Such a big coaster and so little trains.

The Interpreter
And Racer will NOT be turned around backwards again in the foreseeable future unless it gets new trains from a different manufacturer, if then.
Diamondback FOF
Or the the current manufacturer of the current trains (PTC, maybe?) changes their recommendations.
The Interpreter
As long as Racer runs the current PTC's, that won't be happening. PTC has come to the conclusion to not recommend backwards operation after a number of years based on evidence and its history with its trains. CedarPointer
I wonder about the safety of having Gerstlauer trains on the track. Those trains were not designed to sustain those speeds and levels of roughness.
CincyMan98
They look weird on the track, and I think being shorter would make it rougher. Did they change the trains? Didn't they used to be longer?
