ziggystardust458
Has anyone ever seen anyone throw anything from the top of the Eifel Tower? And what happened to them? I was at KI this past thursday and friday Aug 6-7, and on Aug 6, around 7 P.M. we were waiting for the elevator to come back to take us down, and this little kid, maybe 8-10 years old, went to the edge and clearly through something over....Now either this kid was blind, stupid or just didnt care, but there was an employee right there who watched the whole thing and he immediately went up to the kid and asked what he through, and the kid said a coin. The employee got on the phone, and called someone, by this time the kids mom walked up to him and asked what was going on, and then the elevator arrived, and the employee had the kid and his mom come in the elevator, and explained to the elevator operator what happened. We all had to step aside so they could be near the exit door of the elevator. When we reached the ground, they were the first ones off, and within a couple minutes a KI cop arrived, not a security guard, but a fully armed cop, and I had to stick around to see what was going to happen, the cop started talking to the boy, and his mom, the kid started crying, and about 3 minutes later, the cop let them go!!! They didnt get kicked out or anything!!!!! Its clearly posted many times, that it is against ohio law to spit or throw anything from the top!!!! Has anyone ever seen this happen, and what happened to the culprit??
bkroz
I'm sure that, fair or not, an eight year old kid doing it is different than a 15 year old who's there with his friends laughing about it. I've never seen anyone throw anything, but on Kings Dominion's Drop Tower, they're dead serious about it. Like, one of the older women working there came over to me and held her hand flat out, as if waiting for me to drop something into it like a teacher. I obviously wasn't holding anything, but she was like "Oh sorry, I just have gotten hit in the head too many times." Then a second worker walked all the way around the tower saying "hands open, palms up! Hands open, palms up!" and checked to make sure no one was holding anything. Fear the Four
Two years ago this teenager spit off the tower and he got arrested.
Gordon Bombay
If the child was obviously crying I would think he learned his lesson. Kudos to KI security for acting quickly.
KI FANATIC 37
Wow! I didn't know they were that serious about that kind of stuff! Definitely don't want to do that!
Diamondback FOF
Uhhh, yeah they're serious! Throwing something off of the Eiffel Tower and off of anything that has decent height could kill someone... especially off of the Eiffel Tower or Drop Tower. standbyme
I was curious and Googled whether a penny/coin WOULD kill anyone if dropped from that height...according to this ABC News test the answer is no...in fact it would only feel "like a bug hitting you"...it has to do with the aerodynamics of the coin's shape. (They did say something more streamlined like a pen could be dangerous.) http://abcnews.go.com/2020/story?id=3131332&page=1 It actually makes me feel a little better knowing that a coin is not as dangerous as I would have suspected. CincyMan98
I just don't see why anybody would throw anything anyway - what's the point of it? For entertainment? YOU'RE AT A PARK WITH TONS OF RIDES. I don't know....some people just don't have common sense.

pcc
They are very serious about dropping objects. It is a huge liability to the park, and against state law. That is why a cop showed up. More than likely, age was a factor in the action taken. They are so serious about objects on the tower, they wouldn't let my husband take up the large souvenir cup we had. So, we haven't been on the tower but once this year. We've had cups stolen and don't want to lose anymore. But I understand the policy. Shoot on Drop Tower, I was wearing strapped sandals, which honestly don't come off unless I unstrap them, but I felt uneasy about the trip down and took them off. Seemed to take the ride op by surprise. We also had to do the hands up, palms open routine.
TOPGUN1993
On Ride Warriors weekend my friend and I went to the top of the tower and the moment the doors open and his first step off the elevator his hat flew off and threw the metal bars. We got straight back on the elevator to go search, but no luck. But still a funny story.
CincyMan98
I don't think that could hurt anybody - or could it?

We got straight back on the elevator to go search, but no luck. But still a funny story. That's sad. On my last visit I lost my hat to DB. I usually sit on it, but it was the first ride of the day and I forgot it was on my head. It landed on the net above the midway. I would have felt bad about losing my hat but he had a pretty pink hat to keep him company in the net

That's how I feel about people throwing change into The Wild Thornberry's water...I just don't get it. That change goes to a scholarship fund for employees. Same with all the other money that is found in the park. So I'm ok with them throwing money into the water.
CincyMan98
Why do people have to throw money off of RIDES? There can just be a bucket in the entrance of Kings Island or maybe a homeless guy sitting on the wall. I don't know, maybe that would work. I was not aware of that...but any idea how often it is claimed...I swear some of the change at The Thonberrys looks like it's been rotting there for years. Dalefan
Seeing as how the Eifel Tower is 331 ft tall, it be hard to tell what kind stuff that is thrown from it will either kill, hurt you or do nothing at all. Our bodys are different and not the same. One person can be hit by something someone thrown from the tower and be alright, and the next person can be hurt or killed. People dont read signs at themeparks and think its ok to go against the sign and not get busted. That would include the stupid people who take videos or pictures on rides and think its ok. The bad part is that when someone breaks the rules, we all have to live with the fact that the parks may change the rules on us and make them tuffer due to someone's stupid mistake. All it will take is for someone to throw something off the tower and either hurt or kill someone, then the state will step in. They would either have the park make changes to the fencing or just keep it the way it is and just post more guards or cops up top of the tower. They drain the reservoir every off season and the ride clean-up crew goes down there and collects it all, as well as scrubbing it down.
