Diamondback FOF
The first thing I thought of when I read this topic title, was that the topic was going to be related to a Skyline Chili location within Kings Island. Cool shots. And yes, I agree that I am sick of all this gray dreary weather and am more than ready for some sunshine and amusement park weather. Exactly what I thought. And, I'm ready for it to be sunny and mid 60s if it's not going to snow anymore. While I had a 4-way from Skyline just last night, I'd also recommend Blue Ash Chili (just around the corner from KI in Mason) if you want some good chili but have others in your group that are not fans of "Cincinnati Style" They have a Blue Ash Chili in Mason? I thought that was only in Blue Ash (I live just down the street from it)
goofywdw
Nice photo! I miss Kings Island already... Thought I'd share some recent skyline photos too! That was my first view when I saw it testing for the first time! I drive this way when I drive to work at the park and when it is sunny out and clear skies it looks amazing. I especially love when I work the open shift and get to see this at about 7:30am with the sun just rising. Can't wait for my life to continue again!! McSalsa
Nice pics! Makes me even more eager to visit KI again. Also, does anyone have any old Ki skyline pics? I want to see what the park looked like BEFORE all those huge rides spawned in the 90s.
KIfan1980
They have a Blue Ash Chili in Mason? I thought that was only in Blue Ash (I live just down the street from it) From South on KI Drive, turn Right on Western Row - go under the freeway and less than a mile down on the right hand side. Opened late last season.
catzdrummer09
Not the KI skyline, but still a great pic. Notice anything missing? I've been staring at this for ten minutes trying to figure out what major event I missed and suddenly realized that it was just Demon Drop that was missing.... Braves0511
I was there a month ago, parked right next to where Demon Drop was...It was really weird haha, I'd post the pic, but people have been known to get in trouble for such things. Yeah, that's it. It is going to be REAL strange driving up the causeway and not seeing DD this year.
XGatorHead 8904
They have a Blue Ash Chili in Mason? I thought that was only in Blue Ash (I live just down the street from it) From South on KI Drive, turn Right on Western Row - go under the freeway and less than a mile down on the right hand side. Opened late last season. Actually, it opened a little over a year ago. See my post below from March of last year: And yet another reason to avoid the high food prices at the park this year: Blue Ash Chili just opened a second location, this one just down Western Row from the park. If you've never been to the original location, they have wonderful double deckers (and the chili's not bad either). We just went to the new location Friday, and I'm sure it'll be the first of many times. Also in this same new plaza is a Donato's and a Penn Station...yummy! Map to new plaza I highly recommend it! KIfan1980
Well either I meant to say "Opened late last off-seaon" or I totally lost track of time. I'll let you guess which.
The Interpreter
I'd still rather engage in a Gold Star experience! Or Putz's. I LOVE Putz's!

The Interpreter
It's even more depressing to be much, much further away and still not be able to ride! Terp, tryin' to help
Jasper
Thank you for sharing these pictures, just makes me wish April 17th was here that much faster. Speaking of Skyline, I recently drove all the way to Cincinnati to go to Bass Pro and made a point to stop at Skyline, it's my favorite restaurant and nothing can beat Skyline after a day at KI. DBru
SOB makes KI's skyline look so impressive...one of the reasons why I would miss it.

Colonel_SoB_fan
O crap I did not notice the BIG difference in the 2.
The Interpreter
Just as some people in recent years didn't notice the missing loop. And were even telling their kids the coaster did TOO still have a loop. I love it when a kid tries to tell his/her parent something that is right but the parent is rudely and loudly telling the kid s/he is wrong. Once, at Cedar Point, I got to tell an obnoxious, know-it-all brute that his young son was right...Top Thrill Dragster was neither the fastest nor tallest coaster in the world. As I was telling him this, his son interjected that the biggest was in New Jersey. I was amazed. And happy. Before I had interrupted, the father had not let the kid complete a sentence without telling him he was wrong. I interrupted nicely and relatively quietly. Looking back, perhaps it was not the wisest thing to do, but I'd do it again...
Jasper
I never noticed how bare the skyline would look without Son of Beast. That second photo almost makes you want it to stay.... kind of. Hurry up April 17th!
jandyb79
I never noticed how bare the skyline would look without Son of Beast. That second photo almost makes you want it to stay.... kind of. The skyline would look normal again...and clean I can't look at SOB without counting all the non-symmetrical planks along the lift-hill. However, having rides like SOB and DB as points of reference gives you a a better understanding of how large/wide this park really is. So in that light, SOB is tolerable. ~Josh
Colonel_SoB_fan
SOB is a marvel from an engineering pov. How many 200+ foot wooden structures do you see everyday?

Oldiesmann
Lots of great photos! Can't wait for the 17th... On the subject of chili, I prefer Dixie Chili. Sadly, none of their three locations are close to KI, but it's really good if you're ever near nothern Kentucky.
TheBEASTunchained
How about this, I would not miss SOB. Wow....and just to think about how different the skyline will look on opening day 2014.....We'll all be Screamin' like Demons! (or Banshees)
rcwizard13
Once Banshee is complete, someone should Photoshop it and WindSeeker into that exact same picture. See who we can fool...
homestar92
Holy resurrection Batman! But to get back on topic, I think Banshee will fill a very obvious gap in the Skyline. Ever since SoB came down, I have found the skyline to not be nearly as impressive from the highway. I mean, that thing was HUGE and being right in the front of the park, you could see that sucker from a LONG way away.
