KI's Skyline

The first thing I thought of when I read this topic title, was that the topic was going to be related to a Skyline Chili location within Kings Island.

Cool shots. And yes, I agree that I am sick of all this gray dreary weather and am more than ready for some sunshine and amusement park weather.

Exactly what I thought. And, I'm ready for it to be sunny and mid 60s if it's not going to snow anymore.

While I had a 4-way from Skyline just last night, I'd also recommend Blue Ash Chili (just around the corner from KI in Mason) if you want some good chili but have others in your group that are not fans of "Cincinnati Style"

They have a Blue Ash Chili in Mason? I thought that was only in Blue Ash (I live just down the street from it)

Nice photo! I miss Kings Island already... Thought I'd share some recent skyline photos too!

That was my first view when I saw it testing for the first time! I drive this way when I drive to work at the park and when it is sunny out and clear skies it looks amazing. I especially love when I work the open shift and get to see this at about 7:30am with the sun just rising. Can't wait for my life to continue again!!

From South on KI Drive, turn Right on Western Row - go under the freeway and less than a mile down on the right hand side. Opened late last season.

I've been staring at this for ten minutes trying to figure out what major event I missed and suddenly realized that it was just Demon Drop that was missing....

Yeah, that's it.

It is going to be REAL strange driving up the causeway and not seeing DD this year.

Actually, it opened a little over a year ago. See my post below from March of last year:

And yet another reason to avoid the high food prices at the park this year: Blue Ash Chili just opened a second location, this one just down Western Row from the park. If you've never been to the original location, they have wonderful double deckers (and the chili's not bad either). We just went to the new location Friday, and I'm sure it'll be the first of many times. Also in this same new plaza is a Donato's and a Penn Station...yummy!

Map to new plaza

I highly recommend it!

Thank you for sharing these pictures, just makes me wish April 17th was here that much faster.

Speaking of Skyline, I recently drove all the way to Cincinnati to go to Bass Pro and made a point to stop at Skyline, it's my favorite restaurant and nothing can beat Skyline after a day at KI.

Just as some people in recent years didn't notice the missing loop. And were even telling their kids the coaster did TOO still have a loop. I love it when a kid tries to tell his/her parent something that is right but the parent is rudely and loudly telling the kid s/he is wrong. Once, at Cedar Point, I got to tell an obnoxious, know-it-all brute that his young son was right...Top Thrill Dragster was neither the fastest nor tallest coaster in the world. As I was telling him this, his son interjected that the biggest was in New Jersey. I was amazed. And happy. Before I had interrupted, the father had not let the kid complete a sentence without telling him he was wrong.

I interrupted nicely and relatively quietly. Looking back, perhaps it was not the wisest thing to do, but I'd do it again...

I never noticed how bare the skyline would look without Son of Beast. That second photo almost makes you want it to stay.... kind of.

The skyline would look normal again...and clean smile.gif I can't look at SOB without counting all the non-symmetrical planks along the lift-hill. However, having rides like SOB and DB as points of reference gives you a a better understanding of how large/wide this park really is. So in that light, SOB is tolerable.

Holy resurrection Batman!

But to get back on topic, I think Banshee will fill a very obvious gap in the Skyline. Ever since SoB came down, I have found the skyline to not be nearly as impressive from the highway. I mean, that thing was HUGE and being right in the front of the park, you could see that sucker from a LONG way away.
