April 22, 201016 yr I was coming down route 9, right by the wilder exit, and in the Maxim crane yard there was some roller coaster track. There was mainly curved yellow pieces, but also a few red pieces. I never noticed this before, has it always been there? I now have pics! I apolgize for the quality I was kinda far away. It kinda reminds me of chang. There is also in between this track a large amount of bright blue supports
April 22, 201016 yr Are you sure that they are pieces of roller coaster track and not pieces of a crane (since they were sitting in a crane yard afterall).
April 22, 201016 yr Author I thought that, but I never seen crane pieces that curved. I would have taken some pictures but I couldn't pull over/. I might try to go get some pictures today or tomorrow.
April 22, 201016 yr Where exactly is this place located? I work in Newport, so I might be able to swing by there after work tomorrow or Saturday to check it out.
April 22, 201016 yr Author Here's the address. They have a huge lot outside the building. 840 Licking Pike Wilder, KY 41076
April 23, 201016 yr Perhaps it's Chang. The ride's getting caugh up in court, maybe it was trucked back to Kentucky.
April 23, 201016 yr I am 99% sure its Chang, I heard from someone that lives in the Newport area and this track is close to his house. He saw it there one day and knew it was Chang.
April 23, 201016 yr Well im 10000000% sure that all of Changs track is sitting at Six Flags Great Amreicas back parking lot. When I was at No coaster Con back in January I talked to the Director of Operations of the park and he told me that.
April 23, 201016 yr I can't see the pics very well (looking at them on my phone) but it doesn't look like B&M (and therefore Chang) track to me. Please correct me if I am wrong tho.
April 23, 201016 yr each picture is like 1 1/2 in. X 1in. i can just tell there is something yellow. however you can tell that's not b&m track from those pictures is beyond me.
April 23, 201016 yr Yes, those pictures are a little small (they were not posted when I made my original post in this thread). Its tough to tell without having better quality pictures or more information.
April 23, 201016 yr It was just my first impression, like I said I couldn't see them very well. After seeing them on my computer, you are right, you can't really tell.
April 23, 201016 yr Well, I must say, after seeing those larger pictures, that they do in fact look like roller coaster track. And the second picture, the blue pieces in front of the yellow pieces even look like coaster supports. And the colors do seem like a perfect match for Chang. Adam, while 100% of the coaster could have been on site in January, it is now mid-April. And with the state of Kentucky getting involved in the ownership battle of who exactly owns what rides, they could very well have moved some of the track to a new location. It appears that this is the case anyway. I`m not sure of any other B&M coaster in the US with that color scheme that has recently been dismanteled.
April 23, 201016 yr No track has been seen at SFGAm. The only part that is confirmed to be at SFGAm is one support, which has been there since November. No other pieces of Chang has been seen at SFGAm (besides the trains, which accidentally appeared in the backgound of a video for the local news a few weeks ago).
April 23, 201016 yr In the second image there is a maroon looking support that could be a support from road runner express?
April 23, 201016 yr Thanks for the address. That's only 10 to 15 minutes from where I work. I'll go check it out when I have time. I'll also show this topic to my sister and see if she thinks it's Chang. I haven't been to KK in probably close to 15 years (before SF owned it and before Chang existed), but she was there a couple years ago, so she might be able to identify it.
April 23, 201016 yr That may have been very well true Robbie. I havent been following that story in a month.
April 23, 201016 yr And that will be chang. Look at here, the track peices here leaving Kentucky Kingdom is chang, which matching the tracks and supports in that photo!
April 23, 201016 yr I am wondering though. If that is indeed from SFKK, why would it be up here? Louisville is a good 90 minute drive from here. The state fair board is based in Louisville, and most othe state offices would be in Frankfort. Why would they pick a crane company in Wilder to dismantle it, haul it away and store it?
April 23, 201016 yr IDK, Six Flags may didn't have anywhere to store it. I thought the ride would have been painted by now or be at SFGAm, but its still here in Kentucky!
April 23, 201016 yr Six Flags has had a habit of taking apart coasters and leaving them spread around. There was a SLC from Astroworld that was laying in a field next to Great Escape before recently being moved and assembled at LaRonde. SFA has a coaster in a field that can be seen from Superman.
April 23, 201016 yr Its removal just shows that the powers that be at SF weren't thinking. At a time when the chain was in deep financial trouble, they had that ride dismantled to make way for a planned water park expansion which was to open next year.
April 23, 201016 yr I can understand if it would be at another Six Flags park or Kentucky Kingdom! but Six Flags may wanted to get the ride off of Kentucky Kingdom property as soon as possible or the KFEC's property.
April 23, 201016 yr could also be "batman the escape" from astroworld / darien lake.... also a b&m standup that has been shipped around several times.... http://rcdb.com/3472.htm?p=0 http://rcdb.com/53.htm?p=0 i e-mailed lance from screamscape and he mentioned that it could be this coaster.
April 23, 201016 yr When looking at that address by satellite photos, it shows a scrap yard adjacent to the property; could this be wreck-out track?
April 24, 201016 yr could also be "batman the escape" from astroworld / darien lake.... also a b&m standup that has been shipped around several times.... http://rcdb.com/3472.htm?p=0 http://rcdb.com/53.htm?p=0 i e-mailed lance from screamscape and he mentioned that it could be this coaster. AFAIK the old intamin standup from SFAW is still on site at DL & rusting away, this appears to be Chang's track & supports as SFAW's was a darker shade of yellow & blue. Chance are that the state fair board wants the ride back & it's gonna be returned to them because it wasn't an asset of the current SF management teams to remove since it was installed before even premiere aqquired the park.
