CoastersRZ
I love Flight of Fear. I only wish that the capacity of the ride was more similar to Diamondback. Because of the capacity, and the tendency for long lines to build, I typically don`t ride it as often as I like to. And back when Flight of Fear was built (it was a prototype ride and didn`t open until mid to late June that year), it was dubbed as a "really expensive" roller coaster. In fact, In a January 12, 1996 article talking about the ride, a spokeswoman for Cedar Point stated that the ride is "a really expensive roller coaster." And Davide Focke, who was at that time in charge of construction at KI stated that "Let`s just say it cost more than $10 million." Which back at the time was one of the most expensive rides Kings Island had installed. Granted, as with most things they didn`t release the exact cost of the ride. It is not cheap to build a building the size of Flight of Fear`s either, so that added a lot to the cost. But that is one of the things I love about the ride too. Dbfan
And it is just me or do those cars seem really small. Im not that tall, but I felt snug in the car. I have friends that are taller and could barely fit.
CincyMan98
I actually love waiting in line for Flight of Fear - it gets me hyped up for the ride, watching the movie and listening to the whooshing sound when the train gets launched, and looking at the people's faces. faeriewench
I've ridden it both with the lights on and with the lights off, and I mean ALL the lights off. No show lights or anything. Riding it in pitch black is the freakiest thing ever, because you have NO CLUE where you're at or where you're going. Was I with you? I loved the pitch black rides.. it was just. I don't have any words to describe. FOF is among my faves, beats out DB for me too.
Guest Millennium
Something about there being clones of it at other parks makes the experience a little less special to me.
The Interpreter
Why on earth would you feel that way? MOST guests will never get to those other parks. The fact others can share my great experiences just makes me happy. I couldn't care less if there were 100 Mavericks...or Georgia Cyclones...just more opportunities to enjoy! Jasper
Flight of Fear is one of my favorite rides in the park, even though they have kind of toned it down with the MCBR stop halfway through the ride. I rode it on opening day this year and was on the 2nd train of the year and all of the lights were off in the bowl, this made the ride absolutely insane. I do however miss the old theming in the queue hangar and the saucer. Not to mention the announcements that you could use to hear very vividly outside the hangar as well. "Attention time travelers, we have an urgent meeting, please go back to last Friday at 8 AM."
RingMaster
"Attention all base personnel, the Time Travel meeting has been rescheduled for last Friday at 0800 hours. Repeating, the Time Travel meeting has been rescheduled for Last Friday at 0800 hours, that is all." "Attention all base personnel, code red. Will the thermonuclear hazard team please report to Hangar 18 for immediate deployment. Repeating, code red. Will the thermonuclear hazard team please report to Hangar 18 for immediate deployment, that is all." I can't remember the rest, but I should 'cause I've ridden it/been in that area so many dang times.

CedarPointer
It's my second favorite steel coaster at the park. I love the line, the queue video is hilarious.
Diamondback96
There's 15, if you count SoB and Surf Dog.
The Interpreter
There's 15, if you count SoB and Surf Dog. The park apparently counts the latter but not the former...
Jasper
Let us not forget the in station spiels, both when you board and exit. "The only final escape......is oblivion!" "We've enjoyed our visit to your world, now it's time for you to visit......ours!" There's more I just cannot remember at the moment. CedarPointer
There's 12, 13, or 14, depending on how you count them... Personally, I count the parks current coasters as: Invertigo Flight Deck Adventure Express Red Racer Blue Racer (they are two seperate rides which can operate independently, so I count them as two) Flight of Fear Vortex The Beast Diamondback Backlot Stunt Coaster Runaway Reptar Great Pumpkin Coaster Woodstock Express Surf Dog (I put this in the same category as, say, Thunder Run at CW)
Dbfan
"We've enjoyed our visit to your world, now it's time for you to visit......ours!" My favorite one. Wasn't there a loud sound when the trains launched that is no longer there. I could have sworn when I rode this ride years ago there was a loud horn when it launched... Jasper
Does anybody know if the trains from King Cobra are still inside the FOF building, or if they were moved for parts for Shockwave at Kings Dominion? Yes. Someone knows. Seriously, the trains are no longer in Flight of Fear's drum building... ...and have been moved to KD, at last accounting... Correct Latest picture of the old KC trains at Kings Dominion.
bkroz
My favorite spiel, as you exit: "Thank you for participating in our experiment. We know now what happens when the body is pushed to..." Pushed to what, you might ask? Eh, it's not of paramount importance.
hfbldprince
Something with "So you believe that you are studying us, then kindly explain why you are the ones trapped in your seats." "Please secure all loose articles. Loose articles are not permitted. You may hand them to the attendant. We are not responsible for them. Keep your head agaisnt the head rest facing forward through out your journey. Thank you." (^ I've heard those a bunch, but ultimately, Google helped me ) Also about the trains, one day I rode it, it launched and then it stopped and rolled back? They turned the lights on and pulled our train back. I looked carefully and I could see the old King Cobra trains, along with SOB's old trains! Also, at the exit station, it's funny to hear it say "Now we know what happens, when the human body is pushed to..." and cuts off. My 2 boys love this ride! I think they like DB better, but this is their 2nd fav!
BeastForever
It's hilarious in the pre-show where they access the "Hangar Camera" and it shows the queue line and then nobody is in it. Does anyone else know what I'm talking about?

flightoffear45
In my opinion FOF is right up next to Diamoondback and Beast on the favorite ride scale. I haven't sat in the very front yet but I bet when i do it will be even more fun.

Beast79
I have alot of memories operating FOF in 97 and 98. It's still one of my favorite steels and I have some nice pictures from when I was climbing it doing maintenance and torquing bolts! I have them on my facebook page. Cormaster
I love Flight of Fear but I hardly ever ride it because it ALWAYS Seems to have a long wait! And a long wait means I have to watch the stupid video... Typically the key to getting on it fast is to either go on a hot day in August, or a sunday in October, or hit it up very first thing when you enter the park. Unfortunatly its usually not on my list of priorities when I enter the park. X-Base is the worst area of the park when it comes to wait. Between Firehawks pathetic inefficient loading system, and FoF's long waits I usually just skip the section all together when I go to the park. Oldiesmann
I also love Flight of Fear. The very back seat would be my favorite. The only part of that ride I don't like is the "foot crushing" experience that riding in the front row of the car on the load side. I realize this is due to the restraints having changed, but it's still not fun having your foot painfully wedged under the restraint, especially with a zip tie digging into your foot the entire way.
