Today is was bored, so I typed in SonofBeast.com and the Intimadator305 website comes up. Is this just my computer or everybodys?

Wierd. Was there a sonofbeast site before? If so, they probably changed it over to the Intimidator site and left the SOB.com directing to it.

and entering sonofbeast.com and the security number which that site will display (to ensure you are not a bot). My internet service provider has apparently been bad to whois, so all I get there is a lecture. Have at it!

No, you are not! That's exactly what it means...

For what it's worth, you'll often find corporations buying domain names only so that their competitors and critics cannot. Disney buys hundreds of domains a month... For example (I don't think they really own these, but Jim Hill Media often reports on their newly purchased domains, and they are of this genre) they may purchase disneysucks.com, disneyhatesanimals.com, etc. They obviously do not plan on using them. They just want to make sure that others can't, either.

It's either a mistake, or something's happening to/with SoB. Most likely the first one.

It may mean good things for the ride - that it may get its own mini-site a la Diamondback in the future. It may mean that the ride's future is bleak, and Cedar Fair wishes to stop anyone else from purchasing that domain and using it to defame or mock the park. It may mean one of a thousand other things, the intricacies of which we could debate for months and never get anywhere. But they did not just accidentally decide to purchase the domain www.sonofbeast.com. Not by a longshot.

And as long as you have it, you may as well have the traffic go somewhere.

Because I-305 was THE big featured new ride this year...more so than Shoot the Rapids, and Kings Dominion has a much larger target audience than does Carowinds...

Upon investigation, it's possible that the domain sonofbeast.com was once active and operated by Paramount Parks.

According to this site (which uses the Whois site that Terpy linked to earlier for gathering information), sonofbeast.com is / was hosted by Paramount Parks, Inc. on the Paramountparks.net ISP server. I do not recall it having its own site even back in the day, but I'm just pointing this out so everyone knows. And in true Paramount spirit, the hosting servers are located about one block northwest of S. Kings Drive.

I was almost certain that it did. It did not, however, redirect to I-305 until recently.

and 39 other Domains. These three run off the same server which from network Solutions is out of Drums, PA. If I am not mistaken CF owns approx. 39 Domains for the parks. As with any business it is wise to buy all you can.

I know why it leads to I305! Son of Beast is actually I305 in disguise, and they're trying to keep the secret from the public by saying Son of Beast is closed. Son of Beast was never an actual roller coaster. Ever since it was built, it's been called I305 to the employees, then this year they opened I305 to the public, therefore closing Son of Beast. So, Son of Beast is actually I305, which means that's why it redirects to I305'S website.

SonofBeast.com used to take you to the Son of Beast page way back in 1999. Their was a computer video of what the ride was going to be like.
