Kentucky Kingdom

Recommended Posts

For my vacation reading this holiday season, I'm weighing three epic reading options (and I'm not kidding here): Stephen King's "11-22-63," Leo Tolstoy's "War and Peace," or ...this thread! Five-thousand-seven-hundred-thirty-two posts about Kentucky Kingdom... on the top Kings Island fan forum? I've been ignoring something for too long, methinks.

You've missed such gems as the park refusing to admit a poster here and then refusing to admit they did so on purpose.

An event that certainly would not have occurred had this thread not existed.

And enough PR buffoonery to keep you in stitches for days.

I wonder if any other parks would slump so low?

Working as a technology specialist at my school corporation, I was quite surprised to receive a ticket from our ticketing software "Spiceworks":

** Make Plans Now to Turn Your Spring Field Trip Upside Down!
------------------------------------------------------------
If your school or class is thinking about taking a field trip this spring that’s fun, educational and STEM-focused; you’ll definitely want to consider visiting Kentucky Kingdom on one of our Education in Motion days (April 22 and 29, 2016May 5, 13, 20, and 23, 2016).

Kentucky Kingdom is open on Education in Motion days from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.(Please note: the Hurricane Bay water park is not open on these days.)

We offer a special group admission rate of only $19.95 per person (plus tax, if applicable). In addition, for each 5 paid admissions, we provide one complimentary admission ticket that can be used for bus drivers, chaperones, etc.

We also have some great food and drink packages that start at only $8.50 per person for an all-you-can-eat picnic buffet. To sign up, fill out the reservation form athttp://www.kentuckykingdom.com/groups/education-in-motion/

** School groups are also allowed to bring their own lunches into the park. Please inquire if you’re interested in this option.

Mind you, this was a ticket and not an email haha... I was so confused at first... "Why is Kentucky Kingdom asking me for tech support?!?!"  :P

Especially if you are a fan of tragic comedies.

A tragic comedy filled with dramatic soliloquies, comedic satire, and maybe a few puns here and there! Surely this is written by Shakespeare, no? Wrong! By KIC's very own community bringing you the new Broadway topic "Kentucky Kingdom"*.

*Please note that this is in no way a regular musical, but a tragic comedy in Opera format.

11-22-63 was an awesome read, War & Peace I've never read, and this thread has had its "ups and downs"  I'd go with the King novel for sure :)

If I'm getting my story correct (and please correct me if I'm not), a Park Near You once gave Terpy a very hard time when he tried to go in, but eventually he did get to enter. Personally, I'd have been Furyous had that happened to me.

EDIT: Per Terpy's correction, he was prevented from entering that park as well. So yes, other parks might slump so low.

A certain other user of this forum was at Kentucky Kingdom the day that Terpy was barred from entry, but did not witness this take place. THe aforementioned poster DID, however, post a wonderful trip report following that visit. I wonder who that might have been ;)

By all accounts, the park needed every extra person (and wallet) that they could have gotten through the gates that day, so one has to scratch their heads as to why they would have turned ANYONE away.

Tragic comedy in Opera format? Allow me to leave some Notes as to how one of the musical numbers might go...

"Dear Ed Hart, what a charming Kingdom,

The Park enjoyed a great success,

We were hardly bereft when those Six Flags left,

Otherwise, the coasters were entrancing

But operations were a lamentable mess!"

And...after a lot of bureaucratic effort, they converted that pass to a KD Platinum Pass.

Sure enough, when I got to Kings Island, it didn't work. There was no data whatsoever loaded on the pass. Kings Island fixed that. (I told them I had the receipt in the car, but they said that would not be necessary). Later that season, I went back to KD. Guess what didn't work? Converted again....

So today as I was scrolling through my spam folder I found a few interesting emails from Kentucky Kingdom to yours truly. The first stated that I could renew my season pass, when I don't even have one nor did I go to Kentucky Kingdom last year. The 2 others were about buying or renewing a season pass, when I didn't even venture to this park since 2014. So I must ask, was I given a season pass to KK last year for free or what because I never bought one and this email states that I did.

If I remember correctly I did give them my email in terms of future announcements, but not my address. Nor that I was a Season Pass holder, but I was interested in buying one(at that time). If I did get a free Season Pass, I was never notified and I never spent money on one.
