Gordon Bombay
I'm glad to know that I did see a midget bleed this weekend ( I believe the 10:30 show on Saturday) however the show is bad. I'm just glad they stopped letting puppet talk about his "tripod." However, if any of you were in the Festhaus Saturday night, two different shows they had to STOP LETTING PEOPLE IN. Not to mention the food lines were outrageous (surely it had to be the addition of $7.50 Little Kings!). Ironic that they started selling midget sized bottles/cans of beer when they started showing midget wrestling. Pun intended?
Browntggrr
I am not surprised that the live show is being treated with more humor than seriousness. I have been to numerous WWE events, including front row at Wrestlemania X8 in Toronto. Needless to say, it looks much more "real" on TV with the camera constantly flipping views. Most of the wrestlers are gifted athletes, and are actors.
wv_ki_fan
i just spent a great deal of time reading every page of this..i'm glad the debate is over but i still wonder if the same fuss woud have been thrown if it was WWE or TNA considering they are much less hardcore..
Pillsberry123
They need to advertise ring side seats more. I'll be sitting ringside this upcoming weekend. I mean when are you going to get to see midget wrestling again? Might as well get the best experience that you can... And I kinda figured that this would be treated as pretty funny. It's a SHOW for crying outloud. It's supposed to be entertaining, and if the crowd liked it then the entertainers did their job.
XGatorHead 8904
They're high school kids who are in the drama club, they're not Patrick Stewart or actors trained in Shakspearean drama I wasn't aware that I was in high school anymore. I know I don't act my age a lot of the time though... Thanks Gordon, you made my day!
The Interpreter
And some of them may well be actors trained in Shakespearean drama. Not that that would be an asset to what they do. They do what they do well, and should be better compensated for it. After all, they are helping to contribute to the multi-million dollar salary and benefits package the Kinzel family takes home each year...for now. BavarianBeatle
We were at the 10:30 show Friday. It lasted 45 minutes, with about twenty minutes of a midget doing lame stand up comedy, ten minutes of break time/ introductions, and about 10 or 15 minutes of "wrestling." There was no blood and I, in all honesty, found it to be very overhyped and not worth the time that could be spent riding roller coasters.

Then again..its what they are paid to do..
BoddaH1994
I don't think the rest of Haunt suffered because of HPB. I saw several roaming monsters... even though that's starting to get a little passe' since every park does it now. No shortage of fog this year either. I do agree that the mazes could use some love. Bombay's right. It's a bunch of high school kids. We're not talking about Patrick Stewart or Gates McFadden. I must admit, however, that they've made a good effort in the past several years of putting cool stuff in the mazes.
Jasper
I do have a question concerning the HPB. Is admission thrown in with park admission or is there a separate ticket needed to watch the show? The reason I ask is because I saw that on KI's Twitter page they were giving away two tickets to Haunt and two front row passes to see the brawlers in action. Coney Islander
I was at a bar downtown today after the Reds game and a commercial for the half pint brawlers came on during the game we were watching and a lot of people around the bar were talking about it. Obviously the event has brought some publicity and gotten a buzz, but most people were making fun of it and personally I think advertising bar room brawls in a commercial for an amusement park's halloween themed event is pretty stupid. This can be a very, very good thing for Kings Island. Seriously, this is some of the best kind of publicity. People, in general, are more inclined to have a conversation about a bad wrestling match than a good one. Also, the "I've got to see just how bad this is" mind set is bound to set in.Also, the argument about people being worried this kind of entertainment spawning bad behavior in the park is getting old. FearFest/Haunt has always brought out awesome crowds of punk kids who think they're awesome and after visiting the other night its clear that KI security/police are continuing to do a great job of keeping everybody safe.Cedar Fair, to my honest surprise, addressed this season's possible issues with a very large increase in security guards throughout the park. In result, this last Haunt was the most enjoyable one I'd ever had, regardless the loss of scare zoning, as mentioned earlier in this thread. Very few belligerents. I saw none.No offense, but "mazes" like urgent scare and wolf pack are made up of plywood walls painted black and none of the mazes at KI have ever been the epitome of a themed environment, whether it was under Paramount or CF. The "actors" hide in the dark and scare people. They're high school kids who are in the drama club, they're not Patrick Stewart or actors trained in Shakspearean drama and the "scare zones" have always been made up of crap thrown around the park. The park starts looking really bad after it rains. Those flags in Coney Mall are all dirty and laying on the ground, urgent scare has trash thrown about the Sponge Bob queue line etc. etc. etc.The scare actors were very skilled, this year. In Urgent Scare, not one scare actor did a poor job... And I must leave especial commendations to Saturday's elevator lady. One of the best scare actors I've experienced, anywhere. On a side note, I'm seriously considering becoming a scare actor for the 2011 Haunt season.

Might as well spend my time waiting in line for a haunted house or riding.

I think we would've been better friends the past few years had I known you had so much ST:TNG knowledge and we could've had more fun making vague references to the show. Also, as Gator corrected me, they're not all high school kids. Don't get me wrong, I love the enthusiasm some of those actors put into it and respect the pride people like Gator take in what they do. However, It annoys me when people come on here and complain about the "talent." Come on, this is haunt, not broadway. Do you have any kind of facts or numbers of security guards to back that up? Or do you just feel you saw more security guards so you can come on here and try to make a vague point out of the last three pages of you rambling on about your theory on how people seeing midget wrestling would lead to bad behavior?
Coney Islander
Cedar Fair, to my honest surprise, addressed this season's possible issues with a very large increase in security guards throughout the park. Why were you surprised? Due to the way Cedar Fair has managed their parks in the past, I had expected very heavy security in Festhaus, but a normal level of security throughout the rest of the park. I have no guarantee to the actual number of security house, but there were many more security guards out and about the park, at least since my last Haunt visit. If you want I can later back this up with support, but now I'm off to school.
BoddaH1994
Just by observation, I want to say Coney Islander is right. There certainly seems to be more security around the park.

KIfan1980
Just by observation, I want to say Coney Islander is right. There certainly seems to be more security around the park. I'd agree with this - but would also go a step further and say It seemed as though there might also have been less tolerance for issues as well since I've seen multiple people being escorted toward the front of the park by Security this Haunt. Note I'm not making any correlation to this and HPB as some were the first weekend.
wv_ki_fan
i seen the HPB show on Oct 8th..nothing was out of the way about it. it was entertaining and the crowd seemed really into it and was not rowdy at all.. all the worry and complaining was for nothing. Coney Islander
all the worry and complaining was for nothing. You know, it really bothers me, the people who are saying this. There could have been problems. There still might be problems. Had Cedar Fair not handled this event so well, problems of some sort would have been inevitable. For nothing, indeed?

There could also have been major problems at Knievel... or Wallenda... or the Hanity concert... or the 4th of July. Of course, the same is true for any US Bank Arena event, Riverbend concert, Maifest, Oktoberfest, etc etc etc The fact of the matter is, we're a few weeks into this and there hasn't been any major issues. In fact, it's been incredibly popular. Someone in this thread said that a few people are waiting for something bad to happen so they can say, "I told you so." I think that's the unfortunate truth.
