January 28, 201115 yr Author Agree'd no crappy videos Photo 91 (Adventure Express opened in 1991) 20 years ago
January 28, 201115 yr ^ Wow... Just make a guy feel old, why dontcha. Alex, who can think of other things that started 20 years ago.
January 29, 201115 yr Author Photo 90 (Flight Commander opened in 1990) Notice how the girl on the left is sitting INFRONT of her over the shoulder restraint.
January 29, 201115 yr I believe she may be reaching up to pull down the restraint. Look again. See, the leg/hip portion of the restraint has also not been lowered, and I believe they interlocked.
January 29, 201115 yr Terp - I think you are incorrect on this one. She is reaching up for the OTSR, but it is clearly in the down position - you can see the silver metal piece on the outboard side (her right) angled down.
January 29, 201115 yr Can we please not invade another thread with Youtube music videos? At least its not Achy Breaky Heart.
January 30, 201115 yr Author Photo 89 (The slide in Coney mall was relocated/shortened to Hanna Barbara Land and renamed "Scrappy Slide") Photo taken in 1987
January 30, 201115 yr I loved that old slide When they told us it had been torn down to make way for the new Nickelodeon area during the spring of 96, the entire training class collectively sighed and was saddened. Just to the right of the slide was that big pink elephant fountain as well. We used to flip pennies in its trunk to see them shoot back out - if timed correctly Awww, what good memories! ~Josh
January 30, 201115 yr another ride i wish the park still had, thanks TOPGUN1993 for the memories. Used to love the slide, along with those nice cars in the background, both of which I wish the park still had.
January 30, 201115 yr I love this idea. It brings back so many memories I had here. I can't wait until opening day.
January 31, 201115 yr Author Photo 88 (Amazon Falls / Congo Falls opened in 1988, notice how the word "falls" was kept on the entrance sign during the rename in 1999)
January 31, 201115 yr Just to the right of the slide was that big pink elephant fountain as well. We used to flip pennies in its trunk to see them shoot back out - if timed correctly I'm about 99.9% certain that the elephant was blue, but I've been wrong before. That elephant now sits outside of Jungle Jim's. It's no longer a fountain, but it is nice to be able to still see it!
January 31, 201115 yr I like the name Congo Falls better. But I love the floral design, it's very clever of the park and it looks great.
February 1, 201115 yr Just to the right of the slide was that big pink elephant fountain as well. We used to flip pennies in its trunk to see them shoot back out - if timed correctly I'm about 99.9% certain that the elephant was blue, but I've been wrong before. That elephant now sits outside of Jungle Jim's. It's no longer a fountain, but it is nice to be able to still see it! i thought so too, just wasn't gonna say anything.
February 1, 201115 yr It was indeed blue. I have many fond memories of that blue elephant from when I was a kid.
February 1, 201115 yr Just the simple notion of being able to see a blue/ pink elephant fountain within Kings Island makes me want to have a time machine so badly.
February 1, 201115 yr Oh, there used to be fountains in Coney Mall too. In fact, there was one right in the circular area of trees between the basketball game and the Zephyr. There was another one located near what is now Outer Hanks Shrimp Co. And of course, there was a small fountain in front of the Festhaus too.
February 1, 201115 yr And there used to be walk through water jets in Coney Mall...later fenced (by Paramount, I do believe), then later removed.
