mikejenkins1 Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Now wondering if Mason Fire has to practice high rescue for this ride. Think there is a manual way to get ride unit down in an emergency case? With DZ, release ride and let drop so no biggie. But what to do here. I mean there have been people stuck on top of DZ ride cylce. Also wonder what wind speeds this can operate in. I know that is why they went with this model, but will they have non operation times for high wind? Quote
flightoffear1996 Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I know that Drop Tower has wind requirments so I am sure this ride will as well. Quote
HTCO Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Looks like they have some pieces for the "catch car", laying over by The Racer. Quote
IndyGuy4KI Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Looks like they have some pieces for the "catch car", laying over by The Racer. I wonder when we will see that been installed on the ride? Those brick pavers look really cool as they are laying them. Quote
Dieseltech20 Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Check out the webcam. They filled the lines in that new concrete with more concrete and pavers are being installed. End Sarcasm. Quote

CoastersRZ Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Yeah, I was a little confused by that post as well. It is a sand base. They filled in the groves with more sand. I fail to see what the sarcasm was about and who it was directed towards. Quote

I fail to see what the sarcasm was about and who it was directed towards. I hope it was not at me. I made the pavers comment because I was looking at the webcam and thought it was cool seeing them laying them down in their tetris looking config. Quote
KIanatic1975 Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Let me go get my dictionary of sarcasm and see what it means. End sarcasm. But lets hope the storm ends soon, so we can see them laying down the pavers. Quote
trevor75 Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I believe that post was related to the posts on Friday about whether that was sand for pavers or concrete that was leading up to WindSeeker. Quote
Dieseltech20 Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 That it was. I know it was a lame attempt at humor but I'm bored. Quote
IndyGuy4KI Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 That it was. I know it was a lame attempt at humor but I'm bored. Might want to reply and quote the post next time so the rest of us are not confused, and hopefully it can be more than just an "attempt" at humor! Quote
The Interpreter Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Really....only one poster here is very trying.... And he's quite punny....he just can't help himself...especially on days that are scorchers.... Quote
Whatever6750 Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Looks like someone is working late. Access door is open and a light on inside. Quote
CoastersRZ Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 I highly doubt that someone is working this late, especially given the weather that we have had this afternoon/evening. More than likely, they have electrical wired in the tower, and someone simply forgot to turn off a light. Quote
Monroe Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 I for one don't mind if they keep the lights on, I sure would not want this to happen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsTAUs_h_uY Quote
arichmann Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 looks like they did decide on putting brick pavers all the way to the ride. Quote
Delirium13 Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 And I'm very glad they did! It looks A LOT better with the pavers than all that concrete. Before when the concrete was originally there I couldn't help but notice how much there was in the ride area, and along with many other people here, wondered why they weren't bringing the new pavers down closer to their new ride, but now they are and the area already looks much better! Now as to why the decision to put the pavers in after the new concrete was poured and dried I do not know. As KIfan73 said a few pages back, maybe one of Kings Island higher-ups looked at the area and thought the same thing as some of us looking at the webcam: Too much concrete. Why the decision was made is a moot point now, I'm just happy it was made. Just another link in the chain of good decisions this off-season by the people at Kings Island. Quote
mikejenkins1 Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 I agree, it looks very nice. Wish they would do a Lost Coney section like Kennywood has with Lost Kennywood and bring back some great family flats. So what do you think they are doing on the tower top today? I was expecting to see the ride arms getting built now. Quote
Ohiocoasterman Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 I'm sure they are doing all the ride cables and maybe more electrical. I'm sure the ride arms won't take long to build. Quote
HTCO Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Well it took them a week to build the freakin' topper... Quote
Ohiocoasterman Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 I heard from someone not sure if its true or not but the swings are done at CW so that would make them take about a week after they were done building the tower. Also have they worked on Sundays yet? If not that might me they are still on schedule and I would not worry. Quote

Oldschool75 Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 The Carriage is visible in the webcam. Nevermind. oy! Quote
rotag Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 is it just me, or do i spy sockets that light bulbs will be plugged into (reffering to the ride arms on the carrage). Quote
Oldschool75 Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 is it just me, or do i spy sockets that light bulbs will be plugged into (reffering to the ride arms on the carrage). Sure looks like it. If it is, that would give Coney back some of its night time glory. That's the one thing I remember about Coney Mall as a kid, the lights. Quote
mikejenkins1 Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Lots of pieces of the carriage all around now. Let the fun begin! Quote
