May 26, 201115 yr As for the gift shop, what if they are trying to stay with a theme? Think about it this way: An actual building would not give the illusion of trying to track down dinosaurs, but a tent gives the illusion of a "base camp" of sorts: One that can pack up and be transported to the next spot as the animals naturally migrate. Nah, temp attraction with a rental tent.... For more realistic it would be camoflauge and such. How do you know? I must assume you are on the DA! team.
May 26, 201115 yr This whole DA thing is starting to remind of Jurassic Park at IOA ...on very smaller scale..It's gonna be pretty cool. I doubt I will do it..because it seems like everything is a ''pay-as-you-play attraction'' in KI anymore. I go for the coasters and sometimes I stay with kids and let them have their fun. Still good coverage here on KIC.
May 27, 201115 yr According to this article, http://www.journal-news.com/news/hamilton-news/fans-of-dinosaurs-enjoy-new-kings-island-attraction-1170172.html?cxtype=ynews_rss It was infact the Ruyang Yellow River Dinosaur that caught on fire, and was destroyed
May 27, 201115 yr Dinosaurs Alive is in fact well worth the $5 charge. And yes, that dinosaur was not present in the attraction today. But the T-Rex is still huge!
May 27, 201115 yr Not since the summer of 1996, when "Jurassic Park: The Ride" opened at Universal Studios, have amusement park fans looked forward to such an awe inspiring dinosaur themed attraction.\ Respectfully I disagree. Dinosaur (originally Countdown to Extinction) at Disney's Animal Kingdom has maintained a popularity much higher than that of the Jurassic Park River Adventure since it's opening in 1998.
May 27, 201115 yr And Jurrasic Park The RIde didn`t open until Islands of Adventure opened, which occurred in 1999! So we are only talking a variance of a few years... Here are some preliminary Dinosaurs Alive pictures from today: http://www.KICentral.com/photos/thumbnails.php?album=339
May 27, 201115 yr For those who did not get to check out Dinosaurs Alive today. http://www.KICentral.com/photos/thumbnails.php?album=339 ...The weather was not on our side today.
May 27, 201115 yr Great pictures, guys! I gotta admit that, even though animatronic dinos really aren't my thing, this looks really well done. If only the trees around Diamondback could have been as sparingly removed! Now, for the million dollar Haunt question: does the DA path intersect the ToT path at any point?
May 27, 201115 yr Yes, it does. Here is a picture of the old Trail of Terror Path, as seen from the new pathway for Dinosaurs Alive: http://www.KICentral.com/photos/displayimage.php?album=339&pos=4 The Dinosaurs Alive path actually follows the old ToT path for a little bit (where the out house scene was).

But the T-Rex is still huge! http://www.visitking...alive/index.cfm According to KI's website, that dinosaur is, in fact, there and is presently being billed as "the highlight" of the attraction.

A slightly more low-budget sibling, I'd say.. I wish it was a clone! I suppose Orlando more than made up for its shortcomings with their version of The Revenge of the Mummy...
May 27, 201115 yr This may seem like a stupid question but if Dinosaurs Alive is in fact here for more than this season does anyone want to venture a guess whether or not these things are winter safe? will they be removed or covered somehow? Or are they made to withstand the elements of an Ohio winter?
June 7, 201115 yr I kind of would like to see the Ruyang Yellow River dinosaur, that be neat to me sucks what happened though. According to this article, http://www.journal-news.com/news/hamilton-news/fans-of-dinosaurs-enjoy-new-kings-island-attraction-1170172.html?cxtype=ynews_rss It was infact the Ruyang Yellow River Dinosaur that caught on fire, and was destroyed Here is the one that was displayed at Brookfield Zoo when they had Dinosaurs Alive there
June 7, 201115 yr ^Yes. Supposedly it is still the largest dino discovered. EDIT: well the widest lol
