DaveStroem
Yesterday we were at the park and while waiting in The Beast queue we were line jumped by 3 twenty somethings. This turned into an incident but before I go there, I would like to get the groups feeling on what we as park guest should do when we are line jumped. BTW, just to make it clear, I am talking about line jumping in the regular queue and not Fast Lane or paid line jumping.
coaster_junky
i personally like to wait until they're almost on the train, then point out that they line jumped. however, Cedar Point usually does something about it more frequently than Kings Island, or even disney. CedarPointer
They can't do anything about it if they don't see it, or if they have multiple, separate groups who agree with you. It's a lot worse at Canada's Wonderland, trust me.
kingsrattler
My favorite is when somebody line jumps in front of me, but then has no idea how to navigate the madness at the station, and I end up on the ride before them. One of the little pleasures that brings a smile to my face.
kingsrattler
But Dave, to actually answer your question, the way I look at it it takes that person line jumping to enjoy the park, and I am going to do is create a scene, my personal thought is, I'm going to enjoy my day at Kings Island whether I'm on "X" train, or "X+1" train, so I just don't worry about it, or let it affect me enjoying the thing I love, spending time at the park. Mr. America
Let's hear the story.
diamondhawk
It upsets me, but you have to realize that it really won't effect the time you get on the ride, and when they get caught, it's bad news for them. I rarely point it out, unless they're being complete jerks about it.
The Interpreter
All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing. If they want to line jump, they should pay for it like everyone else!!!
CoasterGeek101
UGGGG! This annoys me. I usually say if someone cuts "Hey Man, thanks for cutting, its completely fair" In the most sarcastic tone possible. Than I politely ask them to go to the end of the line, if they don't then I tell park management. Simple.
Titan
If someone cuts me I usually start a random conversation with them. Then about 10 minutes later they decide it wasn't worth it. Works every time.
spitfire
I think it should definitely be pointed out; even if it isn't handled, at least you tried. I actually did see three teens get escorted out of the Diamondback line this summer after line jumping. They'd been in the SRL (still was at the time) and decided they wanted to just hop into the regular line through the railing. It was nice to hear the guy taking them out threatening to call park security on them.
CoastersNSich
The ideal solution, if you can: let it pass. Don't get into an argument and let this lead to a fight. Parks will NOT tolerate fighting, and they will kick you out, take your season pass away (if you have one,) and ban you from the park for a period of time. This makes you NO better than the line jumpers.
CedarPointer
Line jumping (and smoking in line, cell phone use on rides, and PDAs) should really be zero-tolerance... do it once and your season pass is revoked. But that would make too much sense. Especially smoking, which IMO should be banned from the park totally (it would make it easier to enforce, instead of telling a smoker they needed to put it out, they could simply take the offending items )
HTCO
You need two separate groups in order to get a line jumper cut from the line. If a ride operator see's it, they always tell them to leave. I'm curious to hear the story.
16gwoods
One night on White Water Canyon there was only my group and a group of teenagers and the teenagers just got off the ride and instead of walking back to where the entrance meets the exit they jumped the line and even though no one was behind them the ride op yelled at them and threatened to kick them out of the park, so i know from expirience that if the ride op sees line jumping they really take it seriously. So don't cut the line!
The Interpreter
Unless you enjoy life in the Fast Lane. You pays more money and you can enjoy that new sport at Kings Island, jumping in front of people who paid less. Pay more, get more, at the FUN & Only. And yes, others have offered similar systems for years.
oysterman
line jumping is not a sport

markr
My response depends upon the situation. If it is simply a young child joining their parents or a parent joining their children, I'll let it pass. My response will escalate as the number of people involved increases and as their arrogance increases. I will not confront the parties involved as this can lead to a volatile, possibly dangerous situation. I will simply quietly and discreetly tell an attendant and let them proceed from there. P.S. -tell us what happened Dave.
Jeorby Nanpa
In the first couple days of WindSeeker, a woman pushed her way past a bunch of people and joined her husband and kids who were immediately in front of me. I gave her THE LOOK and she felt compelled to give this weak explanation: "I just went to the bathroom." To which I said, "I just farted but I don't go around telling strangers." Surprisingly, that ended our conversation.
TombRaiderFTW
I've noticed multiple times this year where Fast Lane is apparently free on WindSeeker--you just step right on ahead of everyone else at the beginning of the line and go ahead just as far as you darn well please. You know, that place with the "line jumping is prohibited" sign? Yeah. Great time to flick on the turn signal and zoom right on by everyone else. Though really, the multiple (as in 75% of the times I've ridden) occasions of this don't beat the one time I rode Great Bear at Hersheypark. There, if you happen to be a group of kids (who just saw someone get caught line jumping, as it were), you can just push (hard) right by everyone in line right up to the station, then turn around and give everyone you jumped the stank eye like they just cut you. (The vindication? We still got on the ride sooner than they did. If you're gonna line jump, you probably should avoid getting in the longest line in the station.) 74Gibson
I respond differently in different situations. If I fear they might get violent... or me for that matter, I'll get a couple other groups to agree to report them when we get to the station. Then we get to watch in joy as they are escorted out after waiting in most of the line. Story... Dave...I actually do hear crickets
RaptorGuy
I like to jump when I'm in line sometimes. Oh wait, that's not the jumping we're talking about here! My bad. I must stop posting late at night!
BavarianBeatle
All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing. Tanna
Late in posting this, but I love the current trend of Reeely Big shoes. I love it when line jumpers try to squidge through the barriers, only to have their giant Mickey Mouse sneakers get caught, and they fall and get scraped up on the pavement.
