"Prosecutors say 18-year old Brandon St****** stole more than $1800 while working at the Dippin' Dots stand."

$1800 worth of crappy ice cream sold in 1 day? Geeez, I'm stunned that much is sold at one of those little carts.

Now I know they can afford to rehab SOB!

His reward is an all expense paid trip to a nice resort with free room, 3 meals a day, free medical care and a nice view of the country side and a room mate with a guy named Bubba, who also won the same prize! Oh yea, don't forget to take part in those free classes to further your education, as you didn't learn anything while in high school. But don't bend down in the shower to pick up the soap.

It is a little surprising that they didn`t do a "rob" on the food stand. I know at Coney, we will typically do a "rob" on the rides ticket booth, if they start approaching that much money, simply because we don`t want the employees to have that much cash under their control, in case someone were to attempt to steal money from them...

For some reason, this caught me funny. I can just see CoastersRZ going to the ticket booth with a toy gun saying "stick 'em up!" LOL!

I mean, it's not like he tried to come back. Sounds like it was plan from the beginning to take all he could and scram.

I hope that $1800 can sustain him, because I can't imagine he'll be getting a legitimate job for quite a long time... One stupid mistake and he's basically blacklisted, even from the most high-turnover places.

Normally, I'd point out an indictment is not evidence of guilt, that prosecutors SAY that this gentleman committed the crime, and that the gentleman is entitled to a presumption of innocence until proven guilty (or he pleads guilty).

However, the gentleman doesn't make it easy by working a single day and not returning. Arguments such as mistake (by him or his supervisors), that he was set up, etc., are far

more difficult under these circumstances.

Plus, the park likely has video of the theft. Still, one must wonder, how DOES one get out of the park with $1800? Was there one or more accomplices?

The only way for that guy to leave the park with that much cash is to remove it from the cash drawer and stash it in his pocket. As for having $1,800, his starting funds was around $500, which is supervisor collected from the cash room. As for having lots of cash at one time, it is collected several time during the day. Terpy is right as there would be video of him and he should had learned from other people that have got caught for these kind of crimes and they paid the price. It just does not pay, especially thinking he can take $1,800 and live like a king. It is one thing to be short by $18 on a till that has over $20,000 in receipts by just sloppy cash handling, but not that much. Now most likely, he will have a felony on his record if and when convicted.

Haha, From when I worked beer booths, it's not too far off.

You'd feel a hand in the front of the apron, and there was the boss, saying, "It's only me.", as he grabbed the money and stashed it. The boss hit some odd spots, at times.

Food till bags have $200 to start with. Also, in 2 years, I never had a pickup once, even at a cart on a really busy day.

The ideal behind having some one from the cash room picking up the cash is two fold: Removing the cash taking all the room in the drawer and most important, removing all the cash and prevent shrinkage of all forms. By leaving all that cash and not having it deposited by the cash room invites problems just like this. When I was in admissions, we were always under surveillance and could not leave out register without securing the cash drawer. When we went on breaks, we were escorted by our supervisor and locked the drawer in a secured box. We would have our cash collected at least twice per shift, also we had none of our own personal funds on our body and our pants/shorts had NO pockets. Did this worker just walk off without being dismissed by his supervisor and recording his total sales vs cash on hand and balance out his till? Any way you look at it, he will never have any job prospects that require any sort of cash handling. That felony record will go with him through out his life.
