Steph88
I'd take a trip to Kings Island over Disney World any day. More thrills and shorter lines. But I do hope to make a trip there when the little one is old enough. And make some time to marathon The Haunted Mansion for a while.
IBEW_Sparky
Mr. Ouimet seems keen on providing guests with an "experience" from his staff. I've always had wonderful interactions with the staff of Kings Island, but he seems intent on making that experience even better. I think that's where you'll see KI learning from Disney. And now it can be asked.... what has happened in 4 years? Thoughts will vary.

Voicetek
I don't think anyone expects KI to be on the same level as a Disney park. However, I think we can all agree that KI has the potential to be better. Heck, most of us have witnessed this! We understand that Kings Island will never get a $100,000,000 heavily themed attraction, but I think what most of us want is for them to at least try a little bit. Pumping pop music throughout the entire park is just lazy. Adding themed music to the different areas would be a big improvement. Changing up the queues a little bit to mesh with the theme of that particular area would add even more appeal. And for goodness sake, someone please do maintenance on the rides that have broken theming (I'm looking at you Adventure Express and Boo Blasters!). There are some small changes that could be made that would greatly improve the look and feel of our home park. These changes are easy and not very expensive. KI doesn't have to be a multi-billion dollar park covered in theming to make this happen. It could become a well maintained, nicely themed, local thrill park with very few modifications. I think this is the direction I'd like to see KI go in the near future.
FoF96"
They DID do a theme repair on Flight of Fear towards the middle of last season. All lights in the bowl were replaced with LED as was the entire spaceship on the inside, for the first time in a few years, I saw that space map thing lit up.

shark6495
I think the hard part for many (myself included to a point) was that KI was a theme park that started on a regional level comparable to Disney. It was used in a similar way to promote an in house brand, brought people from a wide swatch of the country and had many of the same things Disney had or has (Golf course, resort, and campground).... So maybe the park has changed direction but the park goer had a hard time accepting this. Heck I know I do. I remember interacting with characters in different parts, each part of he park having a different "feel".... bkroz
... and each part of the park having different music. The little things add up. It just requires that the people in power are looking for the same goal you are. If we want Kings Island to be a theme park on par with Busch Gardens Williamsburg, while Cedar Fair and park management are hoping to shift it more toward Cedar Point's model, then guess which of those two parks Kings Island will be more like in ten years?
Imperial79
Just think if Disneyworld started to change stuff, the way Kings Island did. I think a lot of people that liked the Disney characters and the theming found out, almost all of that stuff wasn't around anymore, they would certainly be upset. And look back on it like it was the golden age of Disneyworld. Imagine if Kings Island had all that stuff still around! Ahh I can dream!
silver2005
Disneyland has an entire entertainment enterprise behind it to represent as well as having massive funds to work with via the Mouse's empire. Two things Kings Island either lacks or pales in comparison.
shark6495
And at one Point KI (some could argue) had just as an impressive and wide scoped (if not bigger) entertainment enterprise to represent with the potential funds to match Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It's a great big machine with many mouse eared cogs.
