TheKlockster Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Son of Beast used to be one of my favorites. I knew it would never realistically give another ride, but I'm still sad to see it go. I wonder if they're going to build something there right away or if it's going to take so long to disassemble that the new expansion begins for the 2014 season. 1 Quote
beastfan11 Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 It's over. It's actually over. Live your lives people, yes! 3 Quote
Shawn Meyer Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 YES! YES! YES! YES! Thank you Kings Island! Now we don't have to keep bugging Kings Island of what's going in it's place or what is the fate of SOB? Quote
CoasterRoller Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 98 people readi g at once! WOW! Im kinda sad about this! I was hoping to get one last ride! 1 Quote
KIfan1980 Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Glad that they announced the decision. A little surprised it is a generic "future park expansion" that goes along with it instead of something a little more specific - guess I was expecting something along the lines of "exciting new experience in 2014" Quote
fan of beast Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 get excited all you want, KI is now Cedar Fair's red-headed stepchild. we are too close to CP to get anything big. be happy with DB, cause that is the best you will see in this park. Quote
Outdoor Man Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 i think i'm going to fall over from that surprise. Honestly. If you didn't expect this you were obviously on another planet with your fingers in your ears, eyes closed, and facing the opposite direction. It was going to stand until park officials had a plan. Look for another announcement regarding said future expansion... let's start a thread on that! Quote
Gordon Bombay Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 But wait, so many claimed they had inside info and that this isn't what was going to happen! To quote the Bosstones: "Where did you go?" 12 Quote
Colonel_SoB_fan Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 It's over. It's actually over. Live your lives people, yes! Is this a new YOLO? I hate myself for even typing that. Quote
KingsIsland1972 Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 LONG LIVE THE Son of Beast!!! Now that we'll have more space...(grunt),(umph)...(pushing the white elephant out of the room), Would you mind bringing back the Antique Cars? Thank you in advanced! 3 Quote
Outdoor Man Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 WAIT A MINUTE! Is this the "classic" coaster being rumored to be moved to Coney Island? Dwight K Schrute called it first! 5 Quote
westcoaster Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Now can we get a piece of the legendary, ground breaking, incredible looping coaster 1 Quote
PKIVortex Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 I wouldn't say just because both parks in Ohio are now owned by Cedar Fair, not to except anything big at KI. KI and CP are in two different markets, and besides KI beats CP in Attendance. I bet we will see the next 300 foot B&M in SOB's spot in 2014. Quote
TheCrypt Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Who was wrong? MCCARTHYSNERD! Sorry, just had to say it... __________ I am so happy that there has been a decision. For better or for worse, it had to go, and now it is. Thank you, Don. I'm glad you shared the information with us. I patiently await awaiting plans. Quote
FOFreak Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Although I am very glad that a desicion was made, I am also somewhat saddened by this news. This was my first "scary" coaster that I rode when I was young. As soon as I got off of it, I knew I could ride just about anything. It's just kind of sentimental to me. And for some reason, I legitimately enjoyed this coaster alot. But in the other light, I'm also very excited to see something new. Something we can get excited about. I'm ready for Kings Island to get something big. 2 Quote

Shawn Meyer Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 I want to see Kings Island add a B&M Floorless roller coaster. We haven't had a B&M Floorless coaster in Ohio since Dominator packed it's bags and left for Kings Dominion. Hopefully Kings Island reads my post on this. Quote
MrSaturdayNite Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 This news made my day. SOB was a giant question mark in KI's future and I'm glad to see the park is finally moving on. 1 Quote

khaoskat Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 I think it would be cool if they offered a chance for a last tour of SOB before it is gone for good. I had not road it since they took the loop out. Actually, my family came to the park the day that they had the huge accident. We had no clue what was going on, we just saw the park ambulance from the water park heading over towards SOB (along with some of the lifeguards who were not needed). We also saw some of the Mason ambulances coming in as well. We got to the park right after it happened (we went to Soak City with the kids and not the main park). A last chance to get a few photos would be great. 3 Quote
thrill hunter Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Taking a ride on Flight Deck won't be quite the same after SOB is gone. 1 Quote
LongliveKingsCobra Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 I concur why not make it like a GKTW type thing? Raise money and you can get in. Like 25 bucks and you can get a behind the scenes tour of the ride as well as a Beast Tour. That way you can see the two "legends" as they exist and existed.. 8 Quote
