stashua123 Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 Ive noticed some signs around flight deck that could mean its removal -Some land clearing around the area of flight deck -Tree removal. When i was there last week i saw some trees cut down -SoB is being removed so maybe flight deck will?
calakapepe Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 Not that I have any reason to believe, but I don't see flight deck leaving. It runs just fine and it's a very fun ride. I think the tree removal may have to do with some sort of expansion more than a removal of FD.
Outdoor Man Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 there's going to be some level of "crane" activity in the general vicinity of SoB in the coming weeks. My guess is that they are clearing a path to the main structure and probably has nothing to do with Flight Deck's removal.
CoasterOhio Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 I highly doubt they will remove flight deck. Maybe remove some of the que line but that's it. Going to be a lot of Activity in that area.

BB1 Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 (insert portal meme here) Thats more news than the horse tail plants being cut...
stashua123 Posted August 9, 2012 Author Posted August 9, 2012 Sorry for starting a new topic. I really need to start using search! 3
HWBeast1039 Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Flight Deck has been closed for 2 days. The entrances and exits are roped off and blocked with benches.
Titan Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 I wouldn't be surprised if they close Flight Deck while they demolish Son of Beast. Flight Deck does run really close to SOB's track and could possibly be a safety hazard to both the riders and people demolishing the coaster.
KI FANATIC 37 Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 I can't see them closing Flight Deck. If they would have, they probably would have announced it with SoB.
MarketingExpress Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 I wouldn't be surprised if they close Flight Deck while they demolish Son of Beast. Flight Deck does run really close to SOB's track and could possibly be a safety hazard to both the riders and people demolishing the coaster. Chances are they will save the part closest to FD for the off season so as to not disrupt operations of FD.
homestar92 Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 Don has confirmed, both on Facebook and on this forum that Flight Deck and Adventure Express will be unaffected by the removal of Son of Beast. 1
The Interpreter Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 Odd. You'd think they'd at least be sad. 14
Original Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 Honestly, I think we are all way too eager for somthing new to happen. We are all itching for somthing new. XD
KI FANATIC 37 Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 I wonder what KIngs DOminion is going to get? Their webpage says "Breaking Records Again". I saw this and thought, hmm. They got I305 in 2010 and we got DB in 09. If this "thing" at KD is big, we are next on the this for an addition. Their is some spectulation that its a kiddie attraction but still...
TheCrypt Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 I doubt it is a hefty-sized attraction, as I have not heard of anything confirmed about land clearings. Kings Island started clearing for Diamondback in '08 (I think--could have been earlier).
westcoaster Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 Kids attraction would not be to bad at all, to keep up with the #1 kids park.
The Interpreter Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 Idlewild? A Golden Ticket is hardly an unquestionable affirmation. 2
Bennett Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 Odd. You'd think they'd at least be sad. Maybe Maverick can come back to throw Goose's dog tags into the wave pool... 1
The Interpreter Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 Okay. I know I'm an odd duck. Just hearing that score again makes me miss the days when the magic of the movies met Paramount thrills. 5
TheCrypt Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 With all due respect, Terpy, there are better scores than the one composed for Top Gun.
The Interpreter Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 Never said there wasn't. But there are few scores that aren't better than what Cedar Fair treats us to and calls ambient music. To me, Top Gun's score will ALWAYS remind me of Top Gun, the ride. And of a grand majestic entrance to a grand majestic Midwest theme park. The current musical offerings would not be out of place at a shoe store in an Albany mall. 7
TheCrypt Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 Well, the Hunger Games' score isn't too good... I'd prefer pop than that score! Which is odd, considering that I generally like James Newton Howard's compositions (I still like Hans Zimmer the best, though). I doubt Kings Island will see movie scores returned to the ambient music (at least under Cedar Fair). The park has stated that they try and play music everybody likes, and I doubt everyone absolutely loves the soundtrack from The Dark Knight Rises, Thor, Top Gun, among others.
The Interpreter Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 And yet, the old soundtrack plays....at Worlds of Fun.
TheCrypt Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 I doubt Worlds of Fun has the same clientele that a park the magnitude of Kings Island has.
The Interpreter Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 And that has what exactly to do with that park's music choices? More cynically, the reason Cedar Fair does not play that musical score at Kings Island is simply because Paramount Parks did. No such scenario exists at Worlds of Fun.
TheCrypt Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 ^That's a stupid reason. (Not saying it's wrong, I just don't like the reason behind it)
