Starting to Decode 2014

Yep, it once did, according to rcdb, but train #3 vanished. Though to be fair, that 3rd train may not even be needed much anymore now...the ride often gets 15-minute or less waits with just two. Cedar Creek Mine Ride @ Cedar Point is the same way.

Like I said, it is just my opinion that gigas feels much less intense than inverts. Obviously none of those options are truly "family friendly", but as a mom of a kid who loves Diamondback, I'd be less inclined to take him on an intense invert. They just have always seemed to do a number on me and I don't like the feeling of intense pressure the entire ride. I haven't let him go on Invertigo for that reason and we all know how short that one is. Again, just my silly opinion :).

You really ought to let your kid ride Invertigo to be able to try it out for himself. What may be too intense for you might not be the same for your kid. If I didn't do anything my mother couldn't/wouldn't do (anything that is jerky or spins), I would have missed out on The Beast, Adventure Express, Invertigo, and Vortex. Let him get the lay of the land and boundaries can be more appropriately set. :)

But doesn't Cedar Fair want rides that parents "they want to ride with their kids, and more importantly, not because of their kids?"

This proves we're getting a giga and not and invert! :P

(Not really, I hardly have any idea what we're getting next year.)

Because...you know...300 ft drops at near vertical angles at 90+ mph are SO family friendly. <_<

And btw, giga's have high g forces as well. Just sayin'.

Yes but on an inverts a ton of blood always rushes to your legs which is something I find to be very uncomfortable. I just don't know why, but inverts have always seemed too intense for me and not very fun to make up for it. I guess it has to do with the center of gravity...

I actually came up with a trick to not get that feeling. I hate that feeling of blood rushing to my legs and since there are many coasters that your feet hang in some way, I tested a theory and sure enough it works. Just squeeze you stomach, legs, and feet as hard as you can and you don't get that sensation. As long as you squeeze your muscles hard enough, you won't have a problem. I've never felt that feeling of blood rushing to my feet ever since I started doing this.

I don't know if it's been discussed on here or not, as I haven't been on this site in a few hours and I'm not going back to read everything in this thread.

But I was at the park yesterday and it looks like the new ride is going to go parallel and into the "valley" and travel close to Adventure Express....rather than Son of Beast which crossed the valley in a perpendicular fashion.

Much like Flight of Fear, the "third" train is rehabbed during the current regular season to get ready for the next season. For example: trains 1 and 2 run in 2013, while train 3 is rehabbed. In 2014 trains 2 and 3 may run while train 1 is rehabbed and the pattern follows for the next years. Although it should be noted that the trains currently running are always labeled "1" and "2," but have weld marks indicating their "real" numbers.

While running three trains, the ride does get increased capacity, but if the crew doesn't move fast enough that third train "sets up" on the second lift. Apparently constant set ups were causing too much stress on the lift hill motor. Even the best crews can get delays in the stations.

Because we cram the station and were loading two full trains at the same time. If you notice however cycle time is pretty long. Ride time from station stop to stop at unload is a few good minutes.

Trains sit idle on the ride slowing its capacity down...think stop to load, jog to launch and pre launch, go for train one, jog to launch train two then launch it. All of this happening mind you while two trains moved from unload and stopped and two trains before you went to unload and emptied. Lots and lots of little things that add up time and just slow down capacity a tad

I don't really care if the train sits idle for a little bit while on the ride. I like to anticipate the launch and think about what just happened on the other side of the circuit. As long as you get ON THE RIDE in a quick amount of time its not like its boring sitting idle for a bit.

you asked why does the line seem to move quicker..I explained why, and why capacity is only 1k

I can believe 1,000/hour for TTD. When I've been in line for it, the crew typically dispatches one pair of trains roughly every two minutes. Each train holds 18 riders, so a pair of trains holds 36, and dispatching every two minutes means 30 train pairs per hour. Multiply those last two numbers together and you get a capacity of 1,080 per hour.

Lol I love how this has turned into a number fest...

Also these numbers aren't perfect...to hit that 1655 was the hourly taken right on the dot, and also, you know as much as I do that people spin the turnstile more than once sometimes...hell on super some kid when I was talking with security apparently got a hold of the turnstile. When I took dor for that hour, super put out 400 something rides...lols..to get above theoretical...dunno how I'd believe that because theoretical is perfect dispatch on the dot consistently to the second which we all know does not happen.

Dragster doesn't put out much...trust me..I know two people on this crew for this year, most went to other rides or didn't return so I'll see what they're numbers are like this year and come back, but when I worked there close to 1k hours was the norm.

Hmm...that last post above mine made me remember something about my childhood trip to Kings Island back in August 2000...if I recall correctly, Action Zone was PACKED with numerous guests, if not for the brand-new Son of Beast then for the then 1-year-old Drop Zone and FACE/OFF...hopefully Project 2014 gets lots of guests into Action Zone, hopefully sending lots of them down to the the good-on-capacity-but-often-overlooked Flight Deck...and drawing people away from X-Base. Seriously, Firehawk and Flight of Fear could really use less crowds...

The "Action Zone" was certainly packed today!!!!!

Heck, by 2pm the whole park was an Action Zone. Just thinking.....has a park every revamped a section and renamed all of the rides in that section?

The fact the new coaster indicates a paranormal quasi theme, I wonder if the other attractions and shops could be renamed.

Everything in Action Zone is to vibrant to become a paranormal section. Invertigo is aqua/teal, Delirium is Blue/Red/Yellow, and Drop Tower is Black/Purple/Green/Red/Yellow/Checkers. Anything is possible, but I dont see the whole section getting a facelift.

Diamondback doesn't have a turnstile. The driver counts empty seats and there is a capacity record for the whole day on the panel view.

I just like how Diamondback gets criticized for having a "slow crew" when they have beaten the manufacturers max capacity more than once.

At the rate the park has been going since 2009, Action Zone is essentially the last section of the park to receive a facelift. Most of Rivertown's pathwork was relaid with brick pavers to coincide with Diamondback (as well as a new entrance plaza for Beast), the kids' area underwent yet another (although less drastic) transformation to Planet Snoopy, the entirety of Coney Mall was relaid with the same pavers as Rivertown along with Windy Seeker and DA!, our water park was gifted a brand new entrance, a second wave pool, and a new path connecting the family raft slide to the kids' water areas, all under the new moniker Soak City, and International Street has been given incremental changes to its scenery with new pavers and the removal of several large concrete planters. The only other area left relatively untouched is Oktoberfest.

These are theoretical capacity numbers. For instance corkscrew is 1440 per hour, my best hour was almost 1300

Diamondbacks theoretical capacity is 1600.

Last year the crew hit 1655.

Maybe I should hop in my delorean and go back to 2012 when I want to ride Diamondback bro.

Maybe they just had a bad day when YoungStud was there because the crew was distracted by Stud's pythons.

Those are Pythons? No disrespect but those are not pythons! LOL
I am challenging jr bird to arm wrestlin! I won't even have to go "over the top" bro.
