LordSkippy Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 I believe they consider Surf Dog a coaster. Quote
Coaster.Rider.Kings Island Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 Surf Dog is a Disko coaster made by Zamperla. I guess they consider this the 14th coaster. Quote
shawnofthedead Posted June 14, 2013 Author Posted June 14, 2013 Oh ok, kinda splitting hairs on their part, but Ill accept lol Quote
The Interpreter Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 Racer should count as two, so it balances out, in my humble opinion. 10 Quote
SonofBaconator Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 I agree with you terp. I think one should be called Red Racer and Blue Racer. But then again, there would be a Red Rebel Yell/Blue Rebel Yell, Red Gemini/Blue Gemini, North Carolina/south Carolina. S.O.B. who could go on forever... Quote
The Interpreter Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 How many at Racer Kennywood? Twicky Terpy. 12 Quote
calakapepe Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 Yeah, the only way I'd say it'd be debatable is if you boarded in one station and exited in the other one, while having two separate ride experiences... So one continuous track compacting "two rides." ^^ Like terp just mentioned with Racer - Kennywood. Quote
The Interpreter Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 Aka möbius...one continuous track. 2 Quote
calakapepe Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 Yeah, didn't know the term till after I wrote that and saw you mentioned a specific ride, where I then " rcdb'd it ". Quote
XjoshhyX Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 I believe they consider Surf Dog a coaster. I'm pretty sure you're right here. If I remember, some of the coaster groups do count this as a coaster on their list of credits. 1 Quote
amandagail13 Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Yeah, I do believe they count Surf Dog as a coaster. Though I saw somewhere (wikipedia maybe?) that they had 13 coasters. So I think maybe it's just a matter of what you consider to be a coaster. 1 Quote
Screaming_Chicken Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Surf Dog!!!...gotta admit that's a great coaster to begin your trip to Kings Island. Quote
UnrealNightmare Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 They count The Racer as two coasters. The do not count Surf Dog. Quote
jcgoble3 Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 They count The Racer as two coasters. The do not count Surf Dog. On the contrary, I remember a couple years ago, while waiting out a rain delay in Diamondback's station and listening to trivia questions from the girl on the mic, that one of answers was that the park considers Surf Dog a coaster. I don't recall the exact question, but I distinctly remember that specific answer. Quote
The Interpreter Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 They do not count Racer as two. And they do count Surf Dog. And Wikipedia is not an authoritative source on this matter. Maybe if jcgoble3 edited the page... 6 Quote
kblanken Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 He probably can't change the article until a newspaper writes a story about how many roller coasters they have. Maybe next year. (Hey I sound like a Cleveland sports fan). 2 Quote

jcgoble3 Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 The main editors of the Kings Island article on Wikipedia currently consider The Racer to be one coaster and Surf Dog to not be a coaster at all in coming up with the count. If you disagree (I do on The Racer) and care enough to do something about it (I don't), start a new thread here to discuss it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Kings_Island . If you can point to a secondary source like a newspaper article from within the last couple of years that cites the number of coasters, that would improve your chances of getting it changed. Again, I don't care about it enough to argue that it should be 14, since 13 is correct from a certain point of view. Quote
shawnofthedead Posted June 19, 2013 Author Posted June 19, 2013 Call Kings Island, they say 14 in their recorded message. I may call tommrow and ask them to name them off. Quote
The Interpreter Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 You do realize who KingsIslandPR is, I trust. Here's a hint: Don Helbig. Add Surf Dog to the 13 in the original post. There's your 14. Now, how many in '14? And can you name them? Don can. 8 Quote
Adventuro Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Where does KI say they have 14 coasters? Cause everywhere says 13, Surf Dog isn't a coaster because it is mostly powered, so racer would have to be counted twice. Quote
darkmarkman Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 I count The Racer as 2. It is two separate tracks in one attraction. I also count surf dog as a coaster. Quote

IndyGuy4KI Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 To also add to this debate, did anyone read the KI e-newsletter that came out yesterday? It was talking about Planet Snoopy's Golden Tickets and had this in the article.. Planet Snoopy features an elaborate collection of PEANUTS-themed attractions for every age, including four roller coasters! 1 Quote
tuxedoman52 Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Well, you said you called them. I'm taking this as it was a recording. If it was maybe it was just old and it included Son of Beast? Quote
medford Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Its times like these that Don must be shaking his head. He points out Terps correct answers, yet more questions arise. Next thing you know somebody is going to suggest that they're using SOBs old station for their new attraction. 4 Quote
