JubJester Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Carowinds just finished the turnaround just now. Looks amazing! 5 Quote
Nick_Plummer Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Fury 325's turnaround has been topped off! It's 157 feet tall and reaches a max 90 degree angle. Image from Carowinds' Construction Cam https://www.carowinds.com/online-fun/webcams 7 Quote
bkroz Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Wild that the turnaround is that tall. This is going to be a truly unstoppable coaster. 6 Quote
thekidd33 Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 I hope that the banking on the turnaround turns out to be as fun of an element as it looks like in the renderings. 5 Quote
shark6495 Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 I just hope it isn't unstoppable. And people were worried about being on WindSeeker for 3 hours, imagine 3 days on this thing 6 Quote
freaks76 Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Movin' right along, they are. REALLY looking foreward to my first trip there. KD, too. 6 Quote
Bansheeback Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 And I forgot to mention: these new additions will make Carowinds Cedar Fair's 4th largest park!!!!! NOOOOOO! Sorry, that's just my inner KI fanboy instinct. Isn't KI 3rd? 2 Quote

The Interpreter Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Green track for a giga. Why does THAT sound familiar? Big Terpy... 15 Quote
TheBEASTunchained Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 The swarm is preparing to fly out of the double helix element and into the final two high speed camel back hills.... (Live Still-Image captured from the Carowinds Fury 325 Live Camera Feed) 11 Quote
electricsun Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 If I can make it work, I will be riding it for the first time on a Sunday mid-April, followed by a concert the next night. I'm very grateful that my best friend lives 35 minutes away from the park. I'm a bit sad that I never took advantage of this when I was in high school and college... 7 Quote
TheBEASTunchained Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 And...... Now the swarm begins its flight down the home-stretch! Two high speed camel back hills and then into the break run it shall fly! (Live Still-Image captured from the Carowinds Fury 325 Live Camera Feed) Ohhhh! Hello again 320 ft. drop! We didn't forget you! 9 Quote
PKIVortex Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 Carowinds opens on Saturday March 28th 2015, and will be open for daily operations for the first two weeks of operation. 6 Quote
The Interpreter Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 Ah, to know the local schools' spring break schedules. Terp, cattily hinting like a roller nut. 6 Quote
silver2005 Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 I know I'm being picky about this, but how is that labeled a double helix? I only see one revolution of the track in that particular element (and its not even a full 360 degrees). 4 Quote

Diamondback96 Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 So why does B&M use the 4-per-row cars for gigas rather than the 2-per hyper cars? 2 Quote
The Interpreter Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 Capacity. Once, they didn't. See Diamondback, which many here (NOT me) have contemptuously called Diamondstack. Compare its throughput to, say, Nitro at NJFTP. 3 Quote
Diamondback96 Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 I thought only a certain young person called it that... Diamondback96, who is being uncleverly cryptic. Speaking of Diamondback, would it be possible for CF to switch to the old-style cars? Would the station have to be modified? It won't happen anytime soon most likely and probably never since it likely won't bring in any profit worth justifying the purpose, but this question is purely theoretical. 1 Quote
