Reason why we gave our guests Diamondback in 2009 is because it's the ride we wanted to add to our thrill ride lineup. We could have gone a lot of different directions. We wanted to add a B&M coas

  • The experiences will only be about 180 yards apart. They are both in Action Zone after all! (Yes, I understand what you meant. I had been waiting for a chance to use that image.

Many veteran roller coaster riders -- those that have ridden literally hundreds of roller coasters -- have told us they experience an abundance of airtime on Diamondback.

Diamondback really is not smooth like it use to be, particularly in the very back. The shuffling at the bottoms of the first 4 drops is getting very, very, very annoying (Everything after the trim is fine IMO). I can't really enjoy the back anymore, which is why I've switched to 1-2.

(Go ride Nitro and tell me Diamondback is the "smoothest coaster you've been on".)

FWIW, the only jackhammer I've ever noticed on Diamondback is between the hammerhead and the trim.

Will you help me get there? I'd gladly go ride Nitro if someone could get me there. SFGA is actually in the top three for parks I want to visit.

I mean, Diamondback does shake and shuffle a bit. I won't deny that.

But in no way is it even close to what I would call "rough". I've ridden 54 coasters, which isn't an HUGE amount, but it's a lot. Diamondback, in its current form, is still probably the third or fourth smoothest I've ever ridden.

Gatekeeper is by far th smoothest coaster I have ever been on and Meanstreak is by far the roughest especially in the very back. Diamondback doesn't seem all that rough to me but then again I always do the front seat on that ride.

Yes, Diamondback is still a relatively smooth coaster, but the problem is that it could be much much smoother (particularly in the very back).

Compared to other steel hyper and gigas it is very rough with the shuffling. Your teeth should not rattle.

I would just like to know what causes it cause its a one off for that particular type of coaster instead of taking paul reubens word for it being butter smooth from 2009.

Edit. I will give it one more chance to see if its butter smooth this coming friday.

I honestly don't find it to be that much rougher than Millenium but again I am biased to the front seat. But I guess Millenium is also about 10 years older.

The problem is that the further you sit back the more profound it is. My explanation is its cause the front scrubs off so much speed while the back is getting the whip effect.

When you sit in the back you can visibly see peoples heads bobbing up and down.

I believe Wonderland had the same issue, and I believe the wheel assemblies were to blame. The issue has been fixed, last I heard.

NOTHING, absolutely nothing you say about Diamondbacks wheels or how outrageous these accusations about this coaster are, what ever the you have the maintenance guys do the wheel assembly or the wheels themselves YoungStud will continue to complain and try and find something to just **** us off about anything that has any affiliations with B&M.

If the maintenance team replaced the wheels so that they don't shuffle, YoungStud, along with many others (myself included) WOULD stop complaining. Also, I really don't think YS is complaining just because it's a B&M in this case. I think he's making a legitimate complaint because there is excessive shuffling on Diamondback that should not be. You don't see YS complaining about Nitro and that's a B&M. The reason: It doesn't shuffle!

Favorite b&m's are batman the ride, kumba, montu, raptor, riddlers revenge. Sub 2000 installs. I have ridden every b&m hyper in north america and the airtime lets me down. Most are smooth.

I guess the reason I like intamin so much is that their cookie cutters are mainly built overseas. Here in the states the installations are world renowned and all are original: maverick, ttd, mf, supes, bizzaro, i305, el torro to name a few.

To me all the b&m's built in this millennium are all cookie cutters.

This is the YS I've been missing...a logical...actually have something to follow up, reasonable approach...

Not the rename CP to KI...

Stay away from that, I don't like you when you get that way..eat a snickers bro

As I posted in another thread, I really don't find it rough at all, even the brown train in the back seems ok to me. I realize everything is relative, and rough to one is not to another. I won't say it's as smooth as it was in years past, but I really don't think it's shuffling so bad it's scrubbing speed.

I still think DB is smooth in every seat. But hey, I though Hurler was smooth, so maybe I'm weird!

Has anyone ever considered the weather conditions when they've experienced a "rough" ride? Believe it or not, weather including temp, wind, etc. can affect a ride.

Been there hot cold, post rain, and early morning runs, still has the same result. I do notice it more in the colder weather, which like all coasters is to be expected, but mid JUL I still started noticing the same problem. I do honestly think the wheels are probably wearing, and yes weather is a slight contributing factor...but like I said I bet you next year, smooth as it has been like every opening year. It may not be opening day inagural year smooth, but it's still going to be a great fun ride as per usual
