The Interpreter
Paint has more functions than just being decorative. See Racer. Sadly.
upstop
if they were to paint it black, the cool effect would would be that it's so dark in that valley, that. you couldn't see the track or supports... unfortunately most of us have ridden it so many times it wouldn't matter.... but it's still would be a good effect.
The Interpreter
If they painted it black, it would inevitably be confused with Batman: The Ride. Even though most of them are no longer black. T2. Uh...
thedevariouseffect
I just hope it's either something new and exciting or some sort of development more than nothing at all..
upstop
You're probably right. You know how some people take things to the extreme around here...LOL. It's probably nothing more than a cleanup/paint job.
Vortex
If they painted it black, it would inevitably be confused with Batman: The Ride. Even though most of them are no longer black. T2. Uh... Unless the coaster was going to be called Batman: The Ride and changed back for some reason.
The Interpreter
(which it was. TimeWarner objected to the ride's rideability. Wise folk. The Batman logo even inexplicably appeared with T2 for several years, then quietly disappeared.)
BeastForever
Wait, so let me get this straight... The reason it was never changed to the Batman theme was because the ride was so awful that TW didn't want to get embarrased? That's hilarious!
The Interpreter
And the ride will be one of Kentucky Kingdom's premier attractions....Some day. Maybe.
upstop
How can T2 ever be a premier attraction, since Premier opted not to submit a bid on the park last October....(slipping quietly out of the thread, ...) Unless, you think they might bid later on down the road...
The Interpreter
It was a Premier Parks attraction... Patient Terpy (as he slowly reels in the baited hook...)
Outdoor Man
The pond indent is pretty intriguing to the coaster and had a bit of geometry, physics, etc... Involved. Next time you go to ki go up in the Eiffel Tower and watch the splashdown. The spray comes up and seems to contour to the pond. The pond shape, in my opinion, was 100% planned to be as is. Timbo1
So much talk about repainting FD, didn't they just paint it in 2010? Little to early for a repaint, but wouldn't it be cool if they were to add realistic flames to simulate rides on fire. That would allow paint coverage on parts that may need it without painting the whole ride. Bat on fire would be a neat theme and as for the bottom area I still see it as a break area for ride ops or even sitting area with snack from vending. TTD-120-420
They can play Meat Loaf in the que lines.
Oldiesmann
My guess is they're preparing to spruce up the area since that ride will likely see a huge burst in ridership next year. It would be rather difficult to remove that section since it's right below the station.
upstop
there will be a lot of full lines in the zone next year. I wouldn't be surprised if Flight Deck's line doesn't fill up on weekends. Therefore, the sprucing up is necessary.
Tanna
our Bat out of H e l l. Okay-that would explain the desire for a flame motif. When I first saw the suggestion, my first thought was "F16 on fire? Do not want."

So even more recent than 2010. The need for paint seems to be on a 5 year or so basis. Because Diamondback and Vortex, both of which were painted in 2009, are looking pretty shabby now by comparison. fanofFirehawk
Is there an issue with having a ride repainted just because it received a paint job fairly recently?
BB1
Is there an issue with having a ride repainted just because it received a paint job fairly recently? Yes, that is one huge waste of paint, and money, which we all love money.
flightoffear1996
^ Nope, but I really doubt Flight Decks line is going to be noticeably longer unless they change something about it.
Bennett
Is there an issue with having a ride repainted just because it received a paint job fairly recently? Yes, that is one huge waste of paint, and money, which we all love money. They painted it primer grey anyway, and, the ride looks terrible as it sits presently. They did not do a COMPLETE paint job, just coated the track and some supports. The station looks horrible, the lift hill looks terrible too, as well as the tranfer track area. A complete makeover is exactly what is needed on FD. Is, to me, one of the most fun rides in the park, the only thing that lets it down is the walk back to it, and the looks.

Yes, that is one huge waste of paint, and money, which we all love money. What's a waste of money and what's not isn't for anywhere on here to decide... that's decided in Sandusky. And just to point out - Vortex recieved a full paint job a few years before 2009 and for the 2009 season only had its rails painted, not the entire ride.
