Oldschool75
If you've ever heard a working carousel band organ, you'll never have any problem figuring out what's live...and what's Memorex. Unfortunately some young-ins here don't know what Memorex is or was. And on this note...pun intended Can we get the original music back on International Street??
mullimann
I was jazzed to hear her back to life. Sometimes its the little things that bring that "best day of summer"

thedevariouseffect
I wish instead of a tiny little 11 second video we would have a nice full length video to enjoy. One more reason to not use Twitter
The Interpreter
Perhaps restoration is underway and the limitation was what the band organ can currently do--not Twitter's limitations.
thedevariouseffect
Twitter does those short videos like vine I'd be more inclined to believe that. There's always a chance but I'm thinking the first is the issue
The Interpreter
Then why did Don SAY restoration is underway?

The Interpreter
You won bigtime last weekend. As well you should!
Thrill_Biscuit
I'm almost 100% sure that the band organ was working during the 2006 season. It was also the final season movie themes were played over the Royal Fountains. Look @ KI twitter, Don answered Lindz personally EDIT - Thanks. I guess my memory is getting a little blurred . BB1
The last time I heard one of those Band Organs....well I heard a pipe organ last month, but the last time I truly heard a "classic" style was at the 1900 Park Fare. Truly a long while for me! (I like getting a glimpse of this, I like vintage machinery!)
Tanna
This is great news to me. I love carousels. I wish to carve a German style horse someday. The Wurlitzer returning makes me really happy.
OldieButGoodie
This really made my day! For those who've never ridden a carousel with an operating band organ, there just isn't a comparison. Woo Hoo!
OldieButGoodie
Just a(nother) snippet of the Wurlitzer 157 - if that's what's happening - would be so utterly tantalizing in the lead-up to opening day!
Kat
I can't believe I am just now seeing this topic but that is a beautiful sound!
homestar92
Ah, is it time to bust out my 1972 LP of the Queen of Kings Island again?
KI Guy
A classic merry-go-round is something that you really don't appreciate until you see a new one! Remember, there's only a limited number of these babies to go around. The expenses of making, (and likewise purchasing), a full-sized band organ, hand-carved, ornate, carousel would almost never be "justified" today. Really the only way that a park as new as KI gets one is if another park closes... and one did for KI, kind of.
OldieButGoodie
KI had one (and recordings from it are still available), but what happened to it is a mystery to some. The facia for it was on the carousel long after the mechanics were removed.

All indications are that it will be returning this season, at least if a tweet from Don early in the offseason is to be believed: http://twitpic.com/do971a
thedevariouseffect
Man I got chills hearing that again, hope it's back this season.
Oldiesmann
I do as well. It's been hard to watch the organ shell sit there gathering dust over the past 8 years or so.
