KIfan73 Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 With the temperature hovering in the single digits right now, with more wintry chill in the forecast, I've been enjoying looking at some of my warm weather KI pics. Some of my visits I can remember it being VERY hot, which is a nice thought right now (at least to me) with this frigid weather. I thought I'd start a thread where you can post a pic of a visit where you can remember it being during the dog days of summer. If you know the date of your visit, you can go to this link http://www.wunderground.com/history/airport/KHAO/2014/1/1/DailyHistory.html?req_city=NA&req_state=NA&req_statename=NA to find out what the temp was on that date! Here is mine: This is July 23, 2012. According to wunderground.com, it was 95 degrees that day! I bet Congo was a real popular ride that day. 10 Quote
jcgoble3 Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 I bet Congo was a real popular ride that day. Indeed it was, relatively. I can actually see a line for it! 5 Quote
AZ Kinda Guy Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Nice Congo picture. Congo was my second favorite ride to work at. I have a lot of good memories from inside that station. 7 Quote
KIfan73 Posted January 4, 2014 Author Posted January 4, 2014 ^Thanks. I have to wonder how many people, when shown that photo, would even know it was at Kings Island. That area is kind of like being in a time machine. 5 Quote
AZ Kinda Guy Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 They used to fill that inner water resevoir all the way to the top. Not sure why they stopped doing it. It also used to have the water cannons in it(maybe it still does?) that would shoot the water up. As the control operator, you could get the riders absolutely soaked if you timed it right by turning the water canons off and then on again at the control panel. 8 Quote
stashua123 Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Wish I had some pics from 2012 because that was a REALLY HOT YEAR. I remember like getting heat exhaustion and having to go to the festhaus it was so hot. I was July 6th and it was like 100 degrees that day. 4 Quote
LoraX Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 We were there July 4, 2012 and it was horribly hot. We ended up leaving around 3:00 since it was so hot. It was 98* according to that link. My car at the time did not have AC. So we went to a McDonald's half way between KI and home to cool down a bit. While I do not have pics of that day, another insanely hot day was in 2007. I wish I knew what day this was to see how hot it was. It was hot and horribly humid. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 5 Quote
flightoffear1996 Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 i like this topic but I honestly would rather be cold than hot. At least you can dress for the cold 5 Quote
jdf21972 Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Hot day at Cedar Point. It was I remember it was almost 90 for the high that day. Sent from my iPhone using Taptalk 6 Quote
Titan Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 7-5-12 The max temperature this day was 99 degrees. I remember going over to Soak City and walking on the concrete was terrible. I think we spent most of the time in the river. We also went to Soak City that Saturday and I think the temperature had reached triple digits. 6 Quote
JTW Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 I like this topic since it reminds me of summer, a time that you'll never hear me complain about the temperature. I used to prefer the cold but as I age and my body gets mileage on it, I feel much more soreness and discomfort when it's cold out. 7 Quote
jcgoble3 Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 ^ Uh yeah, I'd call that hot. Looks like something's on fire! 3 Quote
rcwizard13 Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Ah, yes. Scorching indeed. However, very miserable when you have to deal with that heat blast when it's already a hot day. 2 Quote
Ride On_17 Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 This picture is hot in 2 ways...The temperature that day was in the mid to upper 90s, and these turkey legs were scorching on that grill. But I didn't mind--it was my first trip to KI and the turkey legs were delicious! 10 Quote
thedevariouseffect Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Not my picture but probably the hottest pic anyone will post 20 Quote
KIfan73 Posted 3 hours ago Author Posted 3 hours ago Something made me remember this thread, and right now seems like a great time to bring it back. Â Here is pic from a visit from this past July when it was a balmy 85 degrees outside! 2 Quote
IndyGuy4KI Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I love it when these old threads reappear in the feed. 12 years later! Quote
