Oh, the 8th too? That's news to me. I wonder what they'll do about Coasting for Kids.

I hope they can get this all cleared up soon.

PARK UPDATE (5:40 p.m.) - We continue to work with the City of Sandusky to restore water service to Cedar Point. The latest assessment is that the necessary repairs will require several more hours to complete. Once the water main is repaired, there are additional procedures that must be taken to restore water pressure to all areas on the property, and testing that must follow to ensure the systems are working properly and the appropriate water quality is established.

At this time we have made the decision to keep the park and resort properties closed until Monday, June 9th when – subject to any unforeseen complications – we would anticipate resuming normal operations. As the repairs advance throughout the evening and into Sunday we will provide additional updates.

We recognize that this situation has caused many of our guests to be disappointed. We are sorry that this has happened.

All Cedar Point tickets will be honored on any operating day in 2014 where the park is open to the public.

I'm just talked to Kings Island and they are going to find out if we can go to Kings Island tomorrow for the event since CP is closed, They are suppose to get back to me.

Cedar Point's Coasting for Kids event is not happening tomorrow, according to Tony Clark via Twitter:

See I go to Cedar Point yesterday for the first time and then this happens. It's not my fault, I swear!

We need answered I raised almost 500 for this event, and have close to 400 of that in cash that was going to be turned int tomorrow. Plus I paid my fee, I mean I know it's not the parks fault but give me answers.

They are undoubtedly working as hard and quickly as they can. Right now, I'm sure they are fielding thousands of questions/problems, irate guests.

Please have some perspective.

Im going on the 16th and 17th. How Crowdedwill it be and how long Line times will I see...Its a Monday and Tuesday. I know its just someones guess, just like so info from someone who goes there alot. Its my first time.

Patience people. You're not the only one who needs answers.

I feel bad for those in Guest Services! I hope they get it ironed out quickly.

Consider this, too. WHERE are they working? Where are those who lived in park housing? Are they being paid?

I understand the frustration of not having any answers, but there just aren't any answers to be had, yet. A lot of planning was already put into the event, can you imagine how much work it would be if they also had to plan for a completely unexpected, unlikely, event coming at more or less the last minute? I am sure there are many people scrambling to re-plan and reevaluate, but for it to be a decent and somewhat adequate response, it will take a little time.

Be calm, and be sure they will do the best they can to come up with a solution that will make people as happy as they have control over. Obviously, people would be happiest if the water main never broke, the ones doing the planning and re-planning more than anyone else.

Yes. Cedar Point and Six Flags Great Adventure seem to be the two big seasonal park destinations here. Kings Dominion is seen as a local park. Few seem to know of Dorney.

My classmate Logan got there today after driving with his dad for 4 hours only to be greeted at the park by an official saying it was closed. They don't have money to stay up there so they have to come back to Dayton. Maybe our Kings Island trip Tuesday will cheer him up.

Rescheduled Coasting for Kids activities are a certainty. The park highly values those who help them raise money for things like this.

I'm sure they have more pressing matters at the moment than figuring out Coasting for Kids dates and details.

4 hours from Dayton via OH-4 sounds about right.

The situation is very unfortunate, and many will have wasted much time and expense travelling to a closed park. Even though it's not the park's fault, they're ultimately the ones responsible for their guests' satisfaction (or lack thereof).

Hopefully they provide appropriate incentives for affected customers to bring their wallets back to the park when it's actually open.

I made the trip from Northern Kentucky to Cedar Point in almost exactly 4 hours. If it takes you that long to get to the park from Dayton you're taking the wrong route.

Or there was traffic, or they stopped for restroom breaks, or stopped for lunch, are from a south of Dayton suburb, etc. etc.

I know we averaged 4 hours most of the time from Brookville (Ohio) when I was a kid, and that's north of Dayton.

Its really too bad that some source of water close by couldn't be utilized for Cedar Point that didn't rely on a small connected town infrastructure (and politics)...but I wouldn't even know where they could make use of such an idea...or where the water for such an idea would come from.

What would be fantastic is if Cedar Fair provided bussing to Kings Island for tomorrow's event, but I suppose they can't even use Cedar Point's parking lot...

^^ The park is (of course) surrounded by water, but it needs extensive treatment to meet drinking water standards. Unless they want to build a facility on the peninsula, water is going to get to the park via a very long pipe.

^ E-mail them and ask. CP has mainland parking lots, and a bus could be chartered. The worst they could do is say no.

Highway signs along the Ohio Turnpike are advising motorists that CP is closed. Hopefully most out-of-town visitors will find out before driving all the way to Sandusky.
