Pagoda Gift Shop Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Does anyone know about how they have been caring for them during the offseason? I vaguely seem to remember that during the first offseason, the dinos were all shrink-wrapped. This past winter I know the ones at Cedar Point were just left out in the elements. 4 Quote
shark6495 Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Which makes me wonder are they rented or did they pay for them? If they are rented, I assume there is some sort of maintenance they have to perform to keep them in good shape. 1 Quote
dtk1378 Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 I went through Dinosaurs Alive for the first time in several months this last Sunday and I gotta say I was quite impressed with it. It seemed like almost every animation effect was working which was the best I have seen it in years. I wonder if this means that they have put a renewed effort into doing some upkeep on the ole reptilians to get them as a true attraction again. 5 Quote
rhyano Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 I still have my doubts about them keeping Dinos Alive any longer. 2 Quote
Skyrider Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 I am a little surprised why it isn't used for some type of Haunt Attraction---killer dinos with crazed cave people. Just kidding or am I? 3 Quote
dtk1378 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 It is used for the kids Halloween festivities, they dress them up in costumes. It used to be where they did the trick-or-treating as well. Never been a part of Haunt though, I believe they would still need to do the up-charge contractually (not that I've ever seen said contract) and I don't see many people in the Haunt crowd dropping money for that. Plus the motion sensors work much better during the day than they do at night. 1 Quote
Tanna Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 We went through the kiddy Dino Haunt. It was really cute, and the attendants were really sweet to the kids. I like the Dinos. I like the way they are set up on the landscape, though when I went, there was a critter making an abode inside the back of one. (They also had a maze in Planet Snoopy, where they handed out stuff and candy at every turn.) 1 Quote
Gannersdaddy Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 I think what would make it better if it were a car ride (similar to the first Jurassic Park movie). I realize this would quite a feat, as the terrain is not the best for this. That said, unless there is a big change it in, I don't think we will going through again any time soon. Quote
The Interpreter Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Certainly not after the next few weeks, anyway. Most of November, December, January, February, March... 4 Quote
keeperpanda Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 The only reason i would to go to Dinosaurs Alive is to pay the extra 2 dollars (would you have to pay that if you were a gold pass holder) to see the show in the Action Theatre, because I am too young to have experienced it during its run before they started using it for DA and Urgent Scare. You can see the whole thing on google street view! Quote
Italian Job 2005 Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 The Selfiesaurous (or whatever it's called; the one that you take pictures by) seemed to be ripped to shreds last time I walked through which was sometime in July. Quote
KatieF Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 This may be a stupid question-- but I've never been able to find Action Theatre! Do I have to go through Dino's to get to it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
homestar92 Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 It's that building between the two tracks of The Racer when they split. It's accessible during Haunt because Urgent Scare is there, but it is currently not used for anything during the regular season. To get to it, walk past Vortex and WindSeeker and under the turnaround of Red Racer. 2 Quote
The Interpreter Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Am I to assume there is no access on Sundays? Quote
homestar92 Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 I said "during Haunt" which would imply that (as well as no access prior to 6 PM on Saturdays), but to clarify beyond any chance of uncertainty, it is correct that there is no access when Urgent Scare is not in operation (which would include Sundays). 2 Quote
shark6495 Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 I didn't notice till this weekend but it looks like the old original access point is boarded up. Which makes sense as WindSeeker was placed right in the middle of the pathway that went to it. I guess I'm okay with a former building being given life as a haunt, but I miss that ride. It was such a unique experience and something more people could ride and enjoy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2 Quote

I think it's a waste of space, considering how little it would actually be used. But I digress.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
shark6495 Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Well if the options are destruction or haunt. Or temporarily use a currently used building see the former Kill Mart arcade I disagree Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
RollerNut Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 If all goes well at Carowinds and CGA, don't be shocked to see a new simulator in AFX. 1 Quote
The Interpreter Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 That location leaves a lot to be desired. Off the beaten path, isolated, nearly invisible. 2 Quote
RingMaster Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Also, three-quarters of our Theater is gutted and would most likely require a multi-million dollar renovation just to get it back to its original state as a motion simulator. One side has stationary bench seating; the other has multiple floors entirely removed. You would probably stand a better chance at renovating the former Enchanted Theater (which sits behind Great Pumpkin Coaster and houses CarnEvil) into a motion simulator theater (or a "4D" theater like the one at the Cincinnati Zoo). 2 Quote
gforce1994 Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Heres my prediction: a meteor strike in a few years, to put it bluntly. 2 Quote

homestar92 Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 (or a "4D" theater like the one at the Cincinnati Zoo). Or a 5D theater like at Kentucky Kingdom! It makes one think that we're in the Age of Aquarius or something... 2 Quote
Logan Goddard Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 I do believe that DA had a 5 year contract so they should be gone either this year or next year opening that section of the park for future expansion. DA itself just isn't anything spectacular IMO it isn't bad to get away from crowds if you have a gold pass but nothing to spend money on. If they kept the dinosaurs looking like new it would be 10x better because some of the dinosaurs are just torn to pieces. Quote
shark6495 Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 I hate to say it but I would guess razing The Racer would be cheaper than leveling the land DA sits on for expansion. Which is why I'm okay with DA being there. We don't need a terrain hugging woody or park expansion in that area. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

rhyano Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 If they were to put something there, they should keep almost all the trees 2 Quote
