Voicetek
I recently came across a stash of my old season passes. It's interesting to see how much they've changed over the years. I've pretty much had a season pass every year, but for some reason I seem to be missing a few of the older ones. Anyway, I though I'd scan them and post them here for people to see some of the older styles of season passes that they used to give out years ago. Do you guys still have any of your old season passes? If so, feel free to share them here!
Magenta Lizard
Gosh, I wish I had that many. I had a pass a couple of years in high school when my sister was old enough to drive us, then a ten or so year gap, then one from about ten years ago, and now the same nondescript one from 2014 on. You and I look to be within five years of age, by what age you look in each of those years. I need to go see if I can find the couple I know I have around here somewhere. I even have a laminated picture (with no actual pass in it) of me with my eyes shut that the young man making my pass thought was funny. I think he was flirting with my older sister. I couldn't find my early 90s ones, but here's my 2005, before I lost weight.
Oldschool75
I had most of those. Didn't really have a pass during the paramount years. Sent from a signal coming out of the Vega system.
Voicetek
Magenta, I was 6 almost 7 in the first pass (1987).
The Interpreter
I suddenly feel very ancient...
Magenta Lizard
Yep, I was born in July 1976, so about five years different.
The Interpreter
I was a rising junior in undergraduate school as to the older of you two's birth, and had been out of grad school more than a year in the case of the younger's. Yep. Ancient.
jcgoble3
All I've ever had are the modern, boring Cedar Fair passes, since my first pass was in 2010. I don't even have that first pass (a Gold one) anymore, since I had to turn it in when I upgraded it to Platinum in May 2011. I do have that Platinum Pass still, which was renewed through 2013. I bought a Gold Pass for 2014, but then turned it in later that season to upgrade back to Platinum, which lasted through 2015. So in total, I've had two unique Gold Pass cards and two unique Platinum Pass cards. I still have both of the Platinum cards, but neither of the Gold cards. For the record, and for the benefit of anyone looking at this thread ten years from now (assuming Flickr is still around to serve the photo, which isn't a given), here's the 2011 Platinum Pass on the left, and 2014 Platinum on the right:
The Interpreter
My first Cedar Point pass was paper--check paper. With a signature on it--in ballpoint pen ink. No picture.
Voicetek
I've had the same pass for years now because I keep renewing it. They'll update the picture on their computer, but let me keep the same plastic pass. It's starting to look old, gross, and faded. I wish there was a way to upgrade to a new pass when renewing instead of just keeping the same pass year after year.
malem
If you ask, they'll trade your card for a new one when renewing. (Or anytime, for that matter, if the pass is damaged or will no longer scan properly.)
The Interpreter
I have a 2016 Kings Island Platinum Pass. The plastic card? Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom...
CoastersRZ
Also, if you are trying to link your season pass to the Kings Island app, they now have a shorter number code that the app accepts. It will not accept the longer numeric code, which is what I have on my pass. I was hoping to try out the new scan your pass from your phone feature this season, but cannot link the app to my phone, because I have the same plastic pass for my pass since at least 2011.
Voicetek
So if you ask them to swap your old pass for a new one, will they charge you some kind of fee or will they do it for free?
calakapepe
If you've already paid for a pass renewal, and weren't given a new physical card to begin with, in my experience, it wasn't an additional card. However, replacements (from the same year) always do have a fee. I linked my old-style pass to the app by overriding the length restriction on that field. Granted, very few guests would go to such extreme measures.
The Interpreter
...or even know how. In doing so, some states legal provisions would consider that a crime...
malem
A "rooted" Android phone can do a lot of things. The QA person inside me was curious what would happen if I typed in the full code, even though the interface was limiting me to ~8 characters. That, and I wasn't patient enough to wait until April.
