JIMMY JAMZ
I was just wondering if King Cobra has been sold yet and if it has where is it going. I never had a chance to ride it.(Never rode a stand up coaster) So I was just wondering if it is going to be relocated anywhere close? I guess I could go to Kings Dominion and ride a stand up as long as they don't remove it befor next year.
italianchef
Two years ago I heard a rumor that King Cobra was sold to a theme park in Spain. However, this year I have read may rumors, many times that Kings Cobra was dismantled and its part are stored at PKI. If you want to ride a stand-up roller coaster, the nearest one to PKI is Chang at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom in Louisville. Chang is billed as "one of the world's tallest, fastest, and longest stand-up roller coasters" in the world. Personally, I prefer sit-down to stand-up roller coasters. However, I think it's worth a "been there, done that" experience. Have a great weekend! Italian Chef :chef:
flightoffear1996
Who would buy King Cobra after the problems PKI had with it? I love that ride and wish PKI would have fixed the problem. Im a fan of stand up
Mr. Christopher
KC didn't have any problems, at least I don't think so. It was getting old and plus TOGO went out of business. Yeah, I still miss it, but Delirium is a great addition. :cowboy:
JIMMY JAMZ
Well I live in Pittsburgh(GO STEELERS) and I bought season passes so Kings Dominion is not really all that far for me to go to that park.8 hrs. or so. I just hope they dont take There stand-up coaster out before next year (i've heard rumors) So I will just have to wait till next year and see. I am going to be making the trip back to PKI one more time this year for the last week NOV. 1st n 2nd.
fyrfyter
last I saw, KC was still hiding in the weeds near the edge of PKI. I don't think its going anywhere soon, except maybe the scrap metal yard.
ROT
just found this place -- kinda funny to find a site all about Kings Island. (im front central ohio). anyway, there's always the mantis at cedarpoint
JIMMY JAMZ
Someone else pointed that out to me also.So last time I was there When I was up in the tower I used the binocular thing up there and I did see all the track laying over in the far corner of the park. One would think if they were going to try to sell it that maybe they would cover it up to keep it from the weather. Dane
Some parts of it have been stored in the Flight of Fear spaghetti bowl. But a friend I have that works there said it was s\being moved out. He didn't know why or where. Could King Cobra be sold?

RiSK
I know its listed elsewhere on the net also. Just can't remember where, and much to lazy to dig the link up. Never the less, I still hope this ride finds a good home before it rusts up and becomes scrap metal
italianchef
If I had $1 million to spare, I wouldn't buy KC. Maybe Phantom Theater, but certainly not KC. Sorry. Italian Chef :chef:

DragonLord
Actually KC had a ton of rumors about why it was taken out... the funniest being that it was sinking into the earth and that it couldn't be saved. Of course that is totally false. However, the ride was suffering from metal fatigue and was going to have to go soon anyway. Unlike a woodie, a steel coaster has a life span and it has to go eventually. A woodie can be maintained and reparied far cheaper than a steel coaster. docdude316
You know it is interesting that you say that there was a rumor that KC was sinking. I've been hearing that rumor about The Vortex for years. I've never believed it but none the less I've still heard it.
BoddaH1994
^ Absolutely right, but it can always be saved. Although a woodie is much cheaper to save, a steel can be saved as well. It comes down to whether or not they think the coaster brings in enough revenue for them to purchase the repair items. Probably in KC's case, they would need custom items from another company which would be insane.
specialk141
whos to say KC didnt have problems? I loved KC and wish it was still around, but i recall a ride in what would proove to be its last season where as we were heading into the station, one of the wheels fell off and a maintnece guy under the loading platform just put it back on, took a socket to it and tightened it, as if they were anticipating this problem or it happens often.... i know if i heard this from someone i probably would not beleive it, but it happend to MY SEAT! lord only knows what could have happend if it had fallen off durning the ride! none the less, the ride was shut down for the remainder of the day after that incident, but still..... what if! Browntggrr
I'm not exatly sure about the cost issue. I know that at CP the Mean Streak has close to a $1,000,000 operating budget each year, and you would have to believe that most woodies that size would have close to the same yearly costs. When a steel coasters' metal would fatigue, it would not be every piece at the same time, so the cost would not be one big hit, but broken up over time. (kind of like a car does not have all the quarter panals rust at the same time) I would have to think that a woodie's expense would be much more over time. Also, didn't PKI say that the reason KC was dismantled is because parts for the trains were becoming difficult to get?

Vortexlover2
There is a copy of King Cobra at all the other paramount parks... I think...
Mr. Christopher
Not all, just two. Shockwave at Paramount's King's Dominion and SkyRider at Paramount's Canada's Wonderland.
KIBeast
Also, didn't PKI say that the reason KC was dismantled is because parts for the trains were becoming difficult to get? Yes, this was a large reason it was taken out.
