All avenues are being persued with this park buying thing. Yes, the following names are being considered to buy Paramount Parks: Disney, Universal, Cedar Fair, and Six Flags. While I do not see this happening, it would be the parks in Ohio and two other states that would be sold. Ohio is the flagship park so I am not sure they would want to do that. Hehe, another piece of info, Winterfest is def. coming back this year and FearFest is reverting back to its three day run schedule ( 6-12am Friday, 7-12 or 1am Saturday, and 7-9 on Sunday ) This is a much better schedule and is more organized. I do not know how they are going to handle the switching over from normal park to FearFest, but when they had this schedule 3 years ago, they had everyone leave the park at 6 and let all the stands and everything switch over to "FearFest Mode" and then let everyone who has tickets for FearFest re-enter at 7 til the end of the night. I personally loved that since it gave us Food people a chance to catch up and get everything organized. Welp, thats all for now. Later

Yes, I have heard numerous reports that Winterfest is returning in 2005. Hopefully it will be fun, and a huge success for the park that they will continue for years to come like they have done with Fear Fest. I for one would be excited if they returned FearFest on Friday nights this season. It seems like they could capitalize on being open those extra evenings. Also, I think FearFest will remain free with park admission and to season pass holders like it has been the past two seasons, simply because they have had a good turn out the past two years. (For shorter lines though, paying $18 was some what nice.) But I like unlimited use of FearFest with my season pass better. Now if Winterfest is returning, will the park still be open in the first weekend of November?

People, PKI has been in this mess before, and nothing happened. With the current changes made into the park, both behind scenes and in front, I dont think that PKI can easily be sold off without some major naming rights going out as well.

Thank you. Someone that also thinks what i think.

With the way PKI and the others are going now, theres no way it could be sold without a crapload of naming rights and such. Besides, this whole thing happened a few years ago. Nothing happened.

According to the employee handbook schedule and the one posted on the website, we will be closing at the end of October. However, as in the past years, we may be open that very first week of November. Winterfest will be sometime in December although I am not sure when or how long it will run. More info to come.

There's no way they can sell. Not with IJST and TRTR among other things. You can't just give them non Paramount names like they did with FOF. They have their movies written all over them.

Yes they can. Rides can be removed or re-themed.

How about this for a new name for IJST....The escape!

They decide to open in November at the end of the year.

Well, I distinctly remember looking at the 2005 operating calendar a couple weeks ago and seeing the first weekend in November listed on the schedule. Also, in October they were only open on Saturdays and Sundays. If you check the operating calendar on PKI`s website, they are not currently slated to be open in Novemeber (although they always seem to claim that the park is open for an extra weekend in August when they officially say they will be open the first weekend in November). Also, as mentioned earlier, FearFest will indeed make its triumphant return to Friday nights. The park is open from 6pm to midnight on Fridays in October.

Six Flags? I don`t think Six Flags could get enough loans (they are already around $2 billion in debt) to purchase Paramount Parks. The estimated cost is $1 billion. Definantly beyond the money that Six Flags can spare.

I'll be happy to purchase Paramounts Parks if someone is willing to lend me the $1 billion to do so.

Anyone got a billion dollars to spare?

If you just want PKI, you could probably pick it up for $250,000,000 or so... biggrin.gif

Everyone on PKIC could pitch in about 5 million we could maybe buy PKI.

Yeah, but what do you think the chances would be for all us to reach a consensus about the best way(s) to run the park? wink.gif

Considering the heated discussions that go on with all of us just talking about PKI, that could get pretty interesting... biggrin.gif

Actually, kong fu guy, Cedar Fair (who owns CP) looks good on the books, Six Flags International on the other hand is not doing so well. And, I'm not sure that SF will ever right that ship. They have dug themselves a deep hole with no end in sight.

And, the reason that CF performs so well financially is because they've always taken a slow, conservative strategy when it comes to growing the company and taking on debt.

In other words, leveraging the company to the tune of $1B to buy Paramount Parks would be completely contrary to how they've always managed CF...

I totally agree with your assessment of SF. Jeesh...I thought my credit card debt was bad wink.gif
