CoastersRZ
Cedar Point announced today that they will build maXair. The ride will belocated by the space spiral. It should be interesting to note that maXair is being manufactured by Huss and is in fact a Giant Frisbee, just like Delirium at PKI. The one difference is that maXair will have a minumum height of 52", or 2" shorter than Delirium`s minumum height.
shadow2k3
While I'm suprised that CP took the Huss plunge, they could have at least used a different paint scheme. ~S~
AZ Kinda Guy
I guess Kinzel liked Delirium so much when he visited this past summer that he bought one for himself!
KIBeast
I think this is a great idea for CP. I wonder why the height requirement is different since they are essentially the same ride?
Alien Seed
I think that, even though it has been proven that 52 inches is perfectly safe, PKI doesn't want to have just one ride with a new height requirement. That would mean a whole new set of wristbands that only really mean something on one ride. Plus, I think PKI is a little too obsessed with safety. familyman
Well it is a great ride. Not to mention Cedar Point is landlocked and running out of space in a bad way.
xThexCrewx
who cares...they need a flat and as popular as delerium has been in pki, Cedar Point is going to do good with it...i can't wait, delerium has always been one of my favorites and to be able to ride it at one of my favorite parks..awesome
Ben
Cedar Point is way better than PKI. So now I can enjoy my favorite park with one of my favorite flats.
UncleHenry
Wow, that paint scheme looks IDENTICAL to Deli's one. And for those who care, MaXair's max swing height is just 3 feet taller than Deli, once again they just want the record.
xThexCrewx
and once again..this shows that CP is better than pki...and why do they need to go the distance? we all already know that CP blows pki out of the water with ease...the only records we have are obviously beasts length...and sob's records...the only ride in the world guaranteed to break one of your bones each ride..one record i hope Cp never tries to get
UncleHenry
*cough* Did you forget Drop Zone? Tomb Raider? We still have those records.
Alien Seed
Whose going to want a giant topspin after all the problems we've had with TRTR?
pyrocoasterkid
I"m just curious as to know how they add 3 extra feet to a standard Huss Giant Frisbee? 3 extra feet of concrete or what? Over on coasterbuzz someone says they may have just rounded the number up from 137 to 140. Anybody know?
thejoker8388
"and sob's records...the only ride in the world guaranteed to break one of your bones each ride..one record i hope Cp never tries to get" Well I don't know about that. CP has Mantis and no matter how I try to ride that ride it is always the most painful coaster I've ever been on and its's not that I don't know how to ride stand ups because I never experience that kind of pain on Chang. So while Matis may not break bones it surely causes some major pain, like having a 100,000 pound man sit on your legs. By the way I do have to give CP some major credit for finaly getting a great flat besides power tower.
UncleHenry
Mean Streak - worse than SoB IMO. Of course, it has been 4 years since I've ridden it... MaXair - they probably have it swing up 3 extra feet, thats all. Same amount of concrete, but the computer tells the ride to swing just 3 more feet. Alien Seed
It's just the G's acting on your legs because you're standing...all stand ups have this effect, some more than others.
Alien Seed
Mean Streak? Rough? That thing, I thought, was too smooth for a woodie, you know, aside from the constant brakes; even on the first drop.
UncleHenry
Remember, this was 4 years ago... before they added the brakes.
elitescr3
if i am not mistakin....maXair will spin the opposite way from Delirium
zoomzoom
Isn't anyone else a little ****ed of that they copied us? When have we ever copied them like that? NEVER. Same color scheme and everything. Retro my ass it's the exact same color as Delirium. We expanded our waterpark, they build a waterpark. I hate that park. I'll bet they put in something themed next year. Anyway, anyone know how the platform on maXair is gonna work? Is gonna be like ours with flaps or will raise and lower like Face/Off? Alien Seed
We trying to copy Disney and Universal.
RollerCoasterUSA
it'll likely be just like Deliriums platform as it's the same ride type.. unless 'im mistaken the one in germany or wherever it is also uses our playform style (as i'm sure all in the future will use). Vortex
I bet we will see alot more Delirium copys around in the comming years.
Vortexlover2
Wow, that paint scheme looks IDENTICAL to Deli's one. And for those who care, MaXair's max swing height is just 3 feet taller than Deli, once again they just want the record. Hey CP! Pladgerism (how do you spell it?) is ILLEGAL! Vortexlover2
Whose going to want a giant topspin after all the problems we've had with TRTR? Well, I have to agree on this! TRTR has been a total 90% downtime maniac! (I was using imagry!)
Dane
Just look at it this way, there is now only two HUSS Giant Frisbees in the world. And there both in Ohio. We rock.
teenageninja
I believe that plaigerising (sp?) is only on written work. CP is free to purchase what they want. We have a better name anyways.
matth
I believe there are already more than two giant frisbees, and TRTR's downtime was not quite 90% not even 20%. I'd bet that it will be CP's most complex ride, there is quite a bit more to our giant frisbee than any of our coasters control wise. ..matt
TheKlockster
Yes there are more - Nagashima Frisbee, at Nagashima Spaland Japan is identical in every way to our Delirium - including color scheme. From the CP website - it looks like maXair will have a slightly different color scheme. Plus there is a prototype Giant Frisbee in Bremen Germany, at the Huss factory. BoddaH1994
I do find this move to be quite odd. You'd think that the way to make CP stronger is to draw more and more away from PKI's fan base. You really can't do that by copying their rides, unless you're assuming that the sole reason why people go to PKI is for Delirium.
