If the Kings Island Theater is up for grabs this would be a great opportunity to put Swingin' Into Christmas or Yuletide Follies into a venue that better suits those productions and audiences that are actually interested in watching the shows.

My vote is Follies. That show was WASTED on the bandstand. Feel like they almost need to bring CoolYule back for a different vibe since follies, amSwingin’ and Mitletobes all have that same 40-50s vibe.

This will make a lot of families with kids sad. Tinkers (in several forms) has been a tradition since Winterfest 1.0 - Six Flags doesn’t like winter events and with budget cuts everywhere this may be the end of Winterfest 3.0 after this season. Wonder where the tombstone will be for Tinkers Toy Factory at Haunt this year?

Yuletide Follies would work great in there if they can find a good way to use the set. I'd accept a lot of show ideas in there if they were able to use the set like Tinker's did.

The outdoor shows that happen during Winterfest should either be kept smaller (in terms of the number of performers, like the Mistletones and Sounds of the Nativity), or should find a way to provide seating with some more heat lamps around them.

A live-band show like Swingin' Into Christmas could also work in the KIT, but they'd need to find a way to fill that stage like they do the stage in the Festhaus.

Do you mean use the stage? Like “fill the stage” I think you could by supplementing the ground units with some draping. Really they could bring over the big center tree as well and possibly add a few minor set pieces for each of the “acts”. Even reusing the large step unit from PTE if it still exists would anchor the space. Totally agree with the “outdoor smaller” idea, but any show outdoor -even small- should really provide seating/heat.

A show like Tinker's has actors, set pieces, and props all over the stage with most of them being used throughout the show. Yuletide Follies used the entire Bandstand stage with each of the tiers having either performers or set pieces that fill it out. I think the entire PTE stage is still there and most of it is used for Tinker's Toy Factory, it just looks different because it's covered in Christmas props. They might have added onto it more than that.

Swingin' Into Christmas has the band on both tiers of the Festhaus stage, but they don't move during the show. There's only the 6 singer/dancers for that show as well who use the remaining open space of the stage. They would have too much space to work with on the KIT stage.

That theater deserves a full production show that showcases the performers full talents. Expanding Yuletide Follies in there with more dynamic choreography and production would be a good use of the theater.   The venue for that show is horrible currently

Tinkers toy factory had its place, but it definitely was not the premier show that belonged in the Premier location in the park

Since the parade used many characters from Tinkers, especially Santa, wonder if that means the Winterfest parade has been cut too? Guess we will have to watch if the floats start appearing out of storage this fall behind The Racer.

Oh they already are showing up ....or are they getting pulled out of storage to scrap them :P

Ive always felt with WF3.0 Tinkers was a second tier show. It was bad in Feshaus (too loud for a show with a plot) and "too important" in KITheatre. It would be ideal for Showplace if there were skateboard ramps all over the stage. That venue needs a revamp with a better roof, heaters and possible more "tiered" seating instead of the steep rake. Even a smaller version of the Peanuts thing would work there since it leads right in to Planet Buggs... I mean SNOOPY.

The sloped floor among the seating is probably why they don’t use it for Winterfest. Busch Gardens Williamsburg has a  couple outdoor amphitheaters that they use for shows at their Christmas town event.

It’s a shame that Kings Island has a sitdown venue that they don’t use at Winterfest considering all the live entertainment at that event.  The temporary, standup venues for the shows at Winterfest. Definitely contribute to lower quality shows. This amphitheater could host a higher quality show for the event.

I think this is  a factor  of  Winterfest starting to fail some parks.   The event has already left Worlds of Fun and Kings Dominion.  The lack of sitdown venues for the shows leads to lower quality shows.   Plus, it’s not pleasant for the audience to stand when they watch a performance.

Plus the lack of new quailtu production entertainment from year to year.   Yuletide Follies was a slight move in the right direction but enough.

Thats why I never understood the major investment in the BandStand over Showplace in the initial build out. Its just not a nice place to watch a show... any season excpept maybe fall, then there still no seating. I've suggested several times to take the two front quarters in front of the tower and pave them. Add seating and some really nice planters, maybe even a few trees toward the back to make a raised seating area for when there are shows there.

Any change to the seating/aisleways of the International Showplace would probably be to replace the ramps with stairs. The ADA seating is already at the top/back of the venue and more could be added if the need arose for it. It could be better suited for use during Winterfest if it had stairs, but then you'd still have to worry about icy steps and the cold metal benches. Wooden or plastic benches may be better for the colder months, but may require higher upkeep while being subject to vandalism.

What Kings Island and the other Winterfest parks need is more indoor venues with HVAC and more areas that can be enclosed/heated during the colder months. It's part of the reason why I think KI should build a Moonlite Gardens look-alike building with a restaurant inside it. Then there are also the ideas on this website to expand the Festhaus just a little more and enclose the two wings of the Chicken Shack like Kings Dominion did for the Jungle Market Eatery.

I'm very against the idea of paving the two front quarter planters of the Eiffel Tower. While it may help with seating, it would remove more landscaping from the park and may turn out looking worse than the new festival pavilion tent. If the park wants to improve the Bandstand viewing experience, they should put removable benches or tables/chairs on the pavers in front of it and leave the asphalt areas for walking. I can't decide if benches or tables/chairs would look better while contributing to the atmosphere, but they would help a ton.

years ago, Dollywood had a 3-D theater and they converted it into a regular indoor theater that all guest could enjoy in any weather condition.

Cedar Fair/Six Flags mismanagement just let these buildings sit empty.

Hey now.. Action theatre gets a few weeks of use as a (now) upcharge haunted maze at HAUNT!
