I have heard that the King Cobra cars are in PKI's parkiglot, can anyone verify this? What do you think is going on, has it been bought, or are they putting it back up(very highly doubtful).

Well, Paramount Parks still operates two other Togo standups, so the KC trains might be salvaged for spare parts for those rides, since maintenance issues were reportedly one of its downfalls.

As far as I know the King Cobra cars are still in the Flight of Fear building. They won’t put the ride back up because they can’t get parts for it. That’s one of the reasons the tore it down. The entire track is however up for sale as scrap metal. Most of the track is located way out behind Flight of Fear. You may be able to see it from the Eiffel Tower. You can also see other small pieces of track off the right side of Son of Beast's block brakes. (its lift chain is there too) For those who don’t know where the block brakes are they are the brake line you go through rite before the loop. (aka smoothest part of the ride) Son of Beast is an awesom ride tho. They just did a bunch of track work to it so well see if its any better this year. laugh.gif

We can Sure tell your a Newbie ! LOL

The cars probably did go to one of the other parks. King Cobra was a fun ride though. I miss it but it was kind of rough. The cars were actually pretty comfortable but Togo sucks. KC would never be put back up unless completely new track was built (as you read earlier its being sold as scrap metal and im sure by now most of it is rusted crap) and new cars were put on. Youd pretty much need to build just a new stand up and if a new stand up was going to be built it would probably be a B&M. But I dont see KI getting a stand up for awhile.

And what was the thing about some guy being a newbie? Because he said SOB wasnt rough?

Indeed I have been able to for the last three seasons smile.gif

It's all dismantled pieces that I can see from Tower, and FOF used to have the cars sitting in mounds of dust in the bottom of the drum. I don't know about recently though.

darn, that would be cool if it was still intact, KC was a great ride but it was old and like i said.......togo sucks......they are out of business now i think. DId you know their offices for the U.S. were in Cincinnati. Thats what RCDB says. Thanks for the info Diana!

I meant he was a newbie because he keeps telling us stuff that we all have talked about before. Like we don't know all that stuff.

I thought stand ups were like a total "flop" so why would pki get one? I actually like them and don't know people have negative opinions about them. So the trains were like in the drum of FoF! Thats interesting. Could you like see them when you rode it? J/w, why is Togo crap? I never got to ride King Kobra.....crying shame (no sarcasim...I really wanted to ride it). I heard somewhere thought that at least one person fell out of the train. I imagine that is totally bologna but just thought I'd ask for the heck of it.

No one fell out of King Cobra at Kings Island. It was Shockwave, which is an identical coaster at PGA. It was actually fairly easy to get out of the restraints on KC. A week after they were back in operation after the first guy jumped out, another kid jumped off while it was rolling out of the station and hurt his knee. That same year someone fell out of DZ at one of our other parks (A different style from ours) and they shut down all the DZ's for a couple of weeks while they were investigating it.

Wrong, it was at Kings Dominion, it happened twice. Both of them were killed on impact. The first one(1994) jumped and the second was thrown(may be backwards). The Drop Zone accident was at PGA, they didn't fall. The flew out.

That was a young child, and the accident is sometimes mistaken for Carowinds' Drop Zone. It was a freak accident caused by Operator error, and can't happen again.

Wrong...It was never determined.

Well anything can happen again. ABout that DropZone ride. When that kid fell out of the ride it had nothing to do with how the ride was being operated. The mother of the child forced the kid on and he didnt want to go and once it got to the top he tried to get out of his seat and you know the rest (at least that is how I heard the story)

To answer as many of your questions as possible:

Yes, the trains were stored in the FoF drum. It was nearly impossible to see them without the maintainance lights being on in there, but it they more or less lined the outside of the drum.

The reason why TOGO, or at least PKI's TOGO was a piece of crap was because it was the only TOGO owned by PP that used Japanese steel, which is of lesser quality than American steel. No other Paramount Parks have the same problems with their versions.

I thought that the kid was mentally challenged, at least thats what I heard on national news. sad.gif

Can you see the loop at all? Is it still intact or in pieces?

The loop has been taken a part and you can see the pieces if you look hard from the SOB lift hill if the grass is not that high.

Stan ups werent really a flop at all. The Togos were some of the firs stand ups and many people did not like them from discomfort and thought they were rough. I however thought the ride was pretty good and not very rough at all. I remember one time I was at KI and watching KC and the mergency alarm going off and the trains e-stopping and two ride ops running up the hill to make sure someone was secured, they were nto and they tripped the sensor. The togo stand ups may be considered a flop as wella s many other togo coasters like windjammers or whater at KBF. The B&M stand ups however have been very succesful and the last one was built in 1999 at SFOG. Vortex at PC is a B&M stand up and is great. About the kid falling out of drop zone. I dont remember that happeneing at all. When was that? Anyone got a link to an article?

I saw something similar. After Mantis @ CP broke down, the first train that loaded was stopped halfway up the lift hill b/c someone wasn't secured. It made me really nervous b/c it was my first (and only) stand-up.

The kid that jumped or fell out of drop zone is sad. I can't believe the mother made the kid ride (if that really is what happened). And if the kid was mentally disabled or w/e, wtf was he doing on the ride. I didnt think they let menatally disabled ppl on rides.

Enless there is something seriously wrong with the kid, I would give up my seat too(enless I had just waited 4ever). Although, if the ride got stuck, the kid gets scared, and does something that would put his/her life in danger or everybody elses life, might be a reason to not let him/her ride. Really it comes down to the severity of the illness. I don't think the theme parks would want to take a risk like that, and then get sued.(opinion)
