Does anyone know what happened? I know this pic was from awhile go but I would still like to know what happened.

What park was it from? Looks like the brakes failed but if I had some more info, I might be able to help you. Email me with some more details on that pic and I 'll see what I can do biggrin.gif

Yeah I just went to that coaster website -- all it says is that they were working on a stuck train. Must have been before it opened to the public or during a a morning test run. Don't look like there was anyone on it when this occured, so at least there were no injuries. But you know a big operation like PKI hates bad publicity, especially when its a major attraction. Sorry but thats all the info I could 'dig up'.

Yea I know that it got stuck but I just wish I knew what would have caused it cause that spot is pretty high speed.

There could be many things to contribute to that getting stuck. Brakes being too tight, not releasing properly, emergancy brakes kicking in, (which probably what it was because that happens on The Vortex every year at least once LOL), too cold to run it , wheels not being oiled, anything. Sorry that I couldn't be more help.

I don't think it would be an E break because there are no Ebrakes on the ride before that part of the ride if you knwo what i mean.

What part of the ride is it? Is it by the lift hill, or at the "rose bowl" turns?

Also looks like they are more intently looking underneath the train, so it might be the wheels---it was taken in 2000, so the wheels were not really up-to-par and they were having trouble with the speed of the trains, so it might be where the wheels failed, probably broke off, causing it to skid to a stop.

Probably happened during a morning run/first run of the day. Coaster generally run rather slow in the mornings.

I've seen other pictures from 2000 of SOB being valleyed in the helix. It's a coaster, it happens.

That was on the construction of the Lift superstructure. I was there and saw the damage one time.

Right before the ride opened to the public, one of the trains valleyed in the first helix. They had to cancel a preview day they had scheduled for pass holders. Although they said lightning stuck the ride`s electrical system, which led to part of the delayed opening. No, the wheels did not break off, as was mentioned above. Several coasters valley during the early season, because things are not broken in and sometimes the grease on the trains takes a while before it softens up.

That picture of SOB was probably when they are constructing it, I wouldnt be worried about it not being safe now. Interesting find though.

Alls I'm going to say is that PKI PUNK knows what’s he’s talking about.

If you don't know then don't ask

Its fine that he asked, if you dont know something you ask a question, its that simple.

My guess is like any other ride, it broke down for now appreant reason. If it was in 2000, then they had bugs to work out just like TR:TR.

Im just saying that employees are not allowed to disclose information on here without their job being threatened.

Still no excuse to be rude to him. If you're not allowed to answer, just don't answer. It's really just that simple.
